Description

The present invention relates to a cutting tape core that fits onto the core tube of a roll of cutting tape for cutting wallpaper overlaps to hold the cutting tape roll and supports the cutting tape roll in a wallpaper pasting machine so that it can be unwound using an incorporated mounting mechanism. More specifically, the invention relates to a cutting tape core whose core width can be freely changed depending on the width of the cutting tape used.

Generally, the application of wall coverings to interior walls during building interior construction is carried out on-site using a dedicated wallpaper pasting machine, which continuously applies glue to the backside of the sheet-like wall covering. As shown in Figures 8 and 9, this wallpaper pasting machine consists of a main body 110, primarily composed of an upper structure 111 and a lower structure 112, both of which have multiple rollers arranged inside. The main body 110 is placed on a base 120, which is supported at a predetermined height by a pair of left and right legs 121 via left and right hinges 122. The sheet-like wall covering material (hereinafter also referred to as cloth) C sandwiched between the upper structure 111 and lower structure 112 of the gluing machine main body 110 is sent out from the rear to the front of the gluing machine main body 110 by each roller, while the glue lifting roller 114, which is axially supported on the glue tank 113 inside the lower structure 112, scoops up the glue inside the glue tank 113 and transfers it to the gluing roller 115, which then applies the glue to the backside of the cloth.

Wallpaper gluing machines are available in both manual and automatic types. An example of the specific gluing procedure is as follows: First, the leading end of the cloth C unwound from the raw cloth roll R is placed on the lower structure 112, hanging down in front of the gluing machine main body 110. Then, the upper structure 111 is closed, sandwiching the cloth C between the specified rollers of the upper and lower structures, thereby setting the cloth C in a state before gluing begins.

In manual devices, when an operator manually holds the tip of the cloth hanging down from the front of the gluing machine body and pulls it forward, some of the rollers rotate in response, while other rollers rotate in tandem via gears. In automatic devices, a specific roller, whose shaft is connected to a drive source such as an electric motor, is generally rotated by the drive source, causing other rollers to rotate in tandem via gears. The glued cloth C is sent forward along the curved surfaces of the smoothing roller 116 and the claws attached to the claw stay 117.

Such wallpaper gluing machines are used on construction sites, where wall coverings with glue applied to the backside are cut to the appropriate length and then attached to the wall by workers. During this application process, when joining two adjacent pieces of wall covering material on a wall, the edges of the wall coverings are usually overlapped, and the two pieces are simultaneously cut with a blade roughly in the middle of the overlap before the glue dries.

After cutting, the cut-off edge of the upper wall covering is peeled off from the surface of the lower wall covering, and the end of the main body of the upper wall covering is turned up once to peel off the cut-off edge of the lower wall covering from the wall surface, and the edge of the main body of the upper wall covering is attached to the wall surface where the lower edge was located. This leaves the remaining main body portions of the two adjacent wall coverings with the cut edges continuously joined together. This construction method is called "lap cutting" and is commonly used as a wall covering attachment method.

When using this "overlap cutting" construction method, cutting tape is pre-laid along the longitudinal direction of the back edge of the glued wall covering placed on top, so that the separated edges of the upper and lower wall coverings can be easily peeled off after cutting without excess glue adhering to the surface of the edge of the lower wall covering. This cutting tape also helps maintain the adhesive strength of the glue on the edge of the wall covering that is placed on top.

This type of overlapping cutting tape T is commonly sold commercially as a roll product, in which an extremely thin vinyl tape such as polyethylene is wound around a roll core tube (paper tube) P. Typically, the application of the cutting tape to the wall covering is carried out in parallel with the gluing of the wall covering, so the rolled cutting tape (hereinafter also referred to as the tape roll) TR is supported by a tape mounting mechanism so that it can be fed into the wallpaper gluing machine.

As shown in Figure 10, the tape roll TR mounting mechanism first holds the tape roll TR using a cut tape core 200 that fits into the axial core tube P of the tape roll TR, and then rotatably supports the cut tape core 200 below the base portion 120 (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

Specifically, the cutting tape core 200 is a plastic member comprising a cylindrical body 201 having a cylindrical outer shape and a width equal to that of the cutting tape T, and an insertion hole 202 formed concentrically along its central axis. The insertion hole 202 allows for the rotatable insertion of a tape core rod 130, which has a threaded shank 131 at its tip for screwing to the wallpaper pasting machine. In practice, a tubular member 203 constituting the insertion hole 202 is integrally formed with the cylindrical body 201 so as to penetrate a partition wall 204 extending inward from the inner periphery. The tape attachment mechanism is primarily composed of the cutting tape core 200, the tape core rod 130, and a tape core rod attachment piece 125 extending downward from one of the hinge portions 122 on the back surface of the base portion 120 (see, for example, Patent Document 2). The tape core rod mounting piece 125 has a tape core rod mounting hole 126 drilled therein, into which the threaded shaft 131 of the tape core rod 130 is fastened and fixed by a wing nut serving as a fixing screw 132 that threads into the tape core rod mounting piece 125.

Typically, the tape roll TR held on the cutting tape core 200 is rotatably sandwiched on both the left and right sides by a pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B) on either side of the cutting tape core 200. A through hole 141 is formed in the center of the tape side plates (140A, 140B), and the tape core rod 130 is inserted through these through holes 141 and the insertion hole 202 of the cutting tape core 200, and the tape side plates (140A, 140B) are screwed to the tape core rod 130. As a result, the tape roll TR is rotatably sandwiched on both the left and right sides by the tape side plates (140A, 140B), so that the tape roll TR is stably held on the tape core rod 130 without swaying from side to side when the cutting tape T is unwound. Therefore, wallpaper gluing machines often come with components for mounting mechanisms for these tape rolls TR.

To actually set the cut tape T into the wallpaper gluing machine, first insert and fit the cut tape core 200 into the tape roll's core tube P, and then insert the tape core rod 130 into the insertion hole 202. Next, a pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B) sandwich the cut tape core 200 and tape roll TR, with the tape core rods 130 protruding from both sides of the cut tape core 200 passing through their respective central through holes 141. Then, each tape side plate (140A, 140B) is fastened to the tape core rod 130 by the outer protrusions 142 around the through holes using thumb screws 143 or the like. This allows the tape roll TR to be rotatably held on the tape core rod 130 via the cut tape core 200.

The pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B) typically have the same shape and are compatible with each other. Each through-hole 141 in the tape side plates (140A, 140B) is provided by a cylindrical member 144 that passes through the center of the tape side plate (140A, 140B). An outer protrusion 142 is integrally formed around this cylindrical member 144 on the outside of each tape side plate (140A, 140B). Furthermore, a circular ring 145 that protrudes a few millimeters in height is concentrically formed around the cylindrical member 144 on the inner surface of the tape side plate (140A, 140B), and the inner diameter of both ends of the tubular body 201 of the cut tape core 200 is matched to the outer diameter of this circular ring 145. Therefore, by fitting the end of the cut tape core 200 onto the outer periphery of this annular portion 145, it is possible to easily align the axis when clamping the tape roll TR between the tape side plates (140A, 140B).

On the other hand, the tape core rod mounting hole 126 of the tape core rod mounting piece 125 on the base portion 120 side has a vertically elongated shape, and its bottom end forms a fixed recess 127 with an inner diameter into which the threaded shank 131 of the tape core rod 130 fits. As described above, the tape core rod 130, which rotatably holds the tape roll TR via the cut tape core 200, is oriented parallel to the central axis of each roll in the gluing machine main body 110, and its threaded shank 131 is inserted from the inside into the tape core rod mounting hole 126 of the tape core rod mounting piece 125, and then fitted into the fixed recess 127 at the bottom end. A fixing screw 132, such as a wing nut, is threaded onto the tip of the threaded shank 131 protruding outward from the fixed recess 127 at the bottom end of the tape core rod mounting hole 126 and tightened. This causes the screw shaft 131 to be screwed into the fixing recess 127, and one end of the tape core rod 130 is fixed to the tape core rod mounting piece 125, resulting in the tape roll TR being supported by the wallpaper gluer.

Before actual use, the leading edge of the cut tape T is unwound from the tape roll TR to the front of the gluing machine main body 110, passed rearward from the front of the glue tank through the gap between the glue tank 113 and the claw stay 117, passed along the leveling roller 116, and then pulled forward again onto the claw stay 117. The portion that abuts the front of the glue tank 113 is placed inside the tape guide 118 inserted above the front of the glue tank 113, and the setting is completed when the cut tape T is unwound along this tape guide 118. This tape guide 118 ensures that the cut tape T is unwound at a constant position without swaying left or right.

After the cutting tape T has been set, the cloth C is set in the gluing machine main body 110 as described above, and the back edge of the cloth C overlaps the cutting tape T on the leveling roller 116. Therefore, when gluing operation using the wallpaper gluing machine begins, the cutting tape T is unwound from the tape roll RT, following the cloth C as it is discharged from the front of the gluing machine main body 110. As the gluing operation of the wallpaper gluing machine progresses, the cutting tape T is automatically adhered to the back surface of the glued cloth on the leveling roller 116, and is discharged to the front of the gluing machine main body 110 together with the cloth C. In other words, the glued cloth C is discharged from the front of the gluing machine main body 110 with the cutting tape T automatically laminated to the back edge along its length.

Commercially available cutting tape is generally standardized and has a fixed width, and until now, widths of 35mm to 45mm have been the norm for overlap cutting. Therefore, since the cutting tape used is a product with a more or less fixed width, it was only necessary to prepare a cutting tape core that corresponded to this width for the wallpaper glue applicator.

However, in recent years, the mainstream widths of cutting tape have shifted to 25mm, 30mm, 35mm, and widths of 35mm or less. This is because the cross ends that are cut off from the wallpaper body during overlap cutting have become thinner to reduce waste, and as a result, there is a demand to reduce the width of the cutting tape that is cut off along with the cross ends.

However, if the cutting tape cores attached to existing wallpaper gluers are only the conventional 45mm wide, and cutting tape widths of 35mm or less are to be used to apply wallpaper, cutting tape cores of the corresponding width must be prepared separately. Therefore, it is possible to attach the corresponding cutting tape cores to the cutting tape product, but if cutting tape of the same width is used each time overlapping cutting is performed on-site, only one cutting tape core of that width would be required, resulting in a huge amount of waste.

In consideration of the above problems, the object of the present invention is to provide a cutting tape core for attachment to wallpaper pasting machines, the core width of which can be freely changed depending on the width of the cutting tape used, and which can be used even when cutting tape of a smaller width than conventional ones is used.

The cutting tape core of the present invention forms a single cutting tape core by engaging the first annular member and the second annular member at at least two different intervals, which has the advantage that the width of the cutting tape core can be freely changed to suit the width of the cutting tape being used. Therefore, by adjusting the adjustable width setting of the cutting tape core of the present invention to correspond to the cutting tape widths that have become mainstream in recent years, it can hold rolls of cutting tape of different widths than conventional ones, and can be incorporated into existing mounting mechanisms and attached to wallpaper pasting machines so that they can be easily unwound.

The cutting tape core for attachment to a wallpaper pasting machine according to the present invention comprises a first annular member and a second annular member having the same outer diameter, and an engagement means for releasably engaging the first annular member and the second annular member while they face each other along the same central axis to form the single, substantially cylindrical outer shape. The first annular member and the second annular member each comprise a tubular body, a partition wall extending inward from the inner circumference of the tubular body, and an insertion hole portion in the partition wall coaxial with the central axis of the tubular body, which forms the insertion hole through which the tape core rod is inserted. The engagement means variably engages the first annular member and the second annular member at at least two different intervals along the same central axis.

With the above configuration, the cutting tape core of the present invention allows the first and second annular members to be engaged at different intervals using the engagement means, and the length in the central axis direction of the single, approximately cylindrical outer shape formed by the first and second annular members, which is the width of the cutting tape core, can be changed. Therefore, by appropriately setting the adjustable interval between the first and second annular members, at least two different core widths corresponding to at least two different cutting tape widths, including the cutting tape width that has become mainstream in recent years, can be freely changed. Therefore, the first and second annular members can be engaged at an interval that results in a cutting tape core with a core width corresponding to the width of the cutting tape used on site.

Specific examples of the mechanism of the engagement means of the present invention include the following: At least one of the first annular member and the second annular member is provided with a plurality of engagement posts around the insertion hole, the engagement posts extending from the partition wall in a direction substantially parallel to the central axis of the tubular body and having protrusions protruding from the side surfaces of their distal ends; and at least the other of the first annular member and the second annular member is provided with a plurality of engagement hole groups, each consisting of two or more engagement holes formed around the insertion hole of the partition wall, for receiving and engaging the opposing engagement posts, the same number as the engagement posts; and the plurality of engagement hole groups are of the same type and number, arranged in the same order, among each other. The engagement holes are arranged at equal angular intervals, and each group of engagement holes can simultaneously receive each of the multiple engagement posts on the side facing one of the same type of engagement hole. The first and second annular members are arranged so that the engagement holes to receive the engagement posts can be selected arbitrarily by rotating relative to each other in opposite directions around the same central axis. Each of the engagement holes that make up the group of engagement holes has a locking portion at a different position along the direction in which the engagement posts are received, which locks onto the protrusion when the opposing engagement post is received, thereby forming an engagement state between the first and second annular members.

With the engagement means configured as described above, the distance between the first and second annular members that can be engaged varies depending on which of the engagement holes receives each engagement post, and the length of the central axis of the single, approximately cylindrical outer shape formed by the first and second annular members, which corresponds to the width of the cutting tape core, varies. Therefore, by arbitrarily selecting the engagement hole into which the engagement post is inserted that provides the desired core width and engaging the first and second annular members, a cutting tape core with a core width corresponding to the width of the cutting tape used on-site can be obtained. Therefore, by simply appropriately adjusting the tubular bodies of the first and second annular members, the engagement posts, and the positions of the hooks of each engagement hole, at least two different core widths corresponding to at least two cutting tape widths, including the cutting tape widths that have become mainstream in recent years, can be freely adjusted.

The engagement of the post into the hole is achieved by the engagement of each protrusion with the latching portion. However, by using a material with some elasticity, such as a molded plastic component, this elasticity can be utilized to insert and remove the post from the hole, and to latch and release the protrusion from the latching portion. For example, the inner diameter of each hole can be made to match the outer diameter of the post from the front to the rear along the insertion direction of the post, and the inner diameter can be expanded from the latching portion toward the rear. As a result, when the post is inserted into the hole and pushed in, the protrusion at its tip pushes the inner wall of the hole wider as it moves deeper. Then, when the protrusion overcomes the latching portion and reaches the expanded diameter region of the latching portion, the inner wall of the hole returns inward from its expanded state, holding the outer periphery of the post, and the protrusion is latched and held in place by the latching portion, restricting movement in the removal direction, achieving the engaged state. Furthermore, if the protrusion is pulled slightly harder in the direction of removal while it is still engaged with the latch, the elasticity of the member will cause the protrusion to disengage from the latch and return to the front while pushing against the inner wall of the engagement hole. Finally, the engagement post is removed from the engagement hole, and the engagement between the first and second annular members is released.

Furthermore, because each group of engagement holes has the same type arranged in the same order and at the same angular intervals, the first and second annular members can be rotated relative to each other around the same central axis, one clockwise and the other counterclockwise, by a predetermined angle, to select an engagement hole that will result in the desired engagement interval, i.e., the desired core width, and then the engagement posts can be inserted to achieve the desired engagement state. Furthermore, to change the core width of the cutting tape core, simply disengage the first and second annular members, rotate them relative to each other, and insert and engage the engagement posts in the different engagement holes to achieve a different core width.

Furthermore, because the cutting tape core of the present invention is composed of two separate components, the first and second annular members, each can be easily manufactured as a molded product using a mold. By making the first and second annular members identical in shape, they can be mass-produced efficiently and at low cost using a single mold. Because the first and second annular members have identical shapes, they can be easily replaced with each other, making them easy to deal with when a component is lost, for example, when used as an accessory for a wallpaper pasting machine. For example, if a set of two components is used as an accessory and one is lost, the cutting tape core can be re-formed simply by replacing one of the same components. Alternatively, if three of the same components are prepared in advance, even if one is lost, the same type of cutting tape core can be formed without any problems using the remaining two.

In the engagement means configured as described above, when the first and second annular members have the same shape, each of the first and second annular members has multiple engagement posts and multiple engagement hole groups, and the engagement posts face each other in the butting direction to form an engagement state. In this case, each of the engagement posts on one side is received into one engagement hole in each of the other's engagement hole groups, with the protrusion of the engagement post engaging the engagement portion, and simultaneously, each of the other engagement posts is received into one engagement hole of the same type as the other in each of the one engagement hole groups, with the protrusion of the engagement post engaging the engagement portion. This results in a more reliable and stable engagement state than an engagement state in which one of the first and second annular members is simply engaged with the engagement hole of the other.

The cut tape core, consisting of the first and second annular members equipped with the above-mentioned engagement means, is formed with multiple concave and convex portions necessary for engagement, but can be easily manufactured as separate components from thermoplastic resin as a single molded product using a mold. In this case, the thermoplastic resin can be made from a versatile material that has mechanical strength and moderate elasticity, such as ABS resin or polypropylene, allowing for lower manufacturing costs.

Note that if each engagement hole group contains two or more holes, at least two different core widths can be obtained. However, currently, it is practical to accommodate the three mainstream tape widths. Therefore, if each engagement hole group has three engagement holes (first, second, and third) with different positions of the engagement portion in the engagement post receiving direction, the engagement gap between the first annular member and the second annular member when the engagement posts engage with each engagement hole can be set to three levels: maximum, intermediate, and minimum. Therefore, depending on the engagement gap at each level, the width of the cut tape core formed by the first and second annular members can be set to three levels: maximum, intermediate, and minimum. Therefore, by setting these to 35 mm, 30 mm, and 25 mm, respectively, a core width can be freely selected to match the mainstream cut tape widths of recent years.

Therefore, if only one cutting tape core consisting of a pair of first and second annular members is provided as an accessory for a wallpaper pasting machine, it can accommodate multiple types of narrow cutting tape, which have become mainstream in recent years, eliminating the waste of having to prepare cutting tape cores for each cutting tape of a different width. With this cutting tape core of the present invention, when setting up the wallpaper pasting machine to glue wallpaper at the wallpaper installation site, all that's required is to engage the first and second annular members to form a single cutting tape core so that the core width corresponds to the width of the cutting tape being used. This allows the tape roll to be attached to the wallpaper pasting machine in a reelable manner using the same attachment mechanism consisting of the same accessories as conventional methods, using the same procedure as conventional methods.

Furthermore, the cutting tape core of the present invention, consisting of separate first and second annular members, can accommodate cutting tape in a disengaged state that is wider than the maximum width when the first and second annular members are engaged. In other words, even when the disengaged first and second annular members are simply fitted into the cutting tape shaft tube from both sides, a tape core rod can be inserted through the insertion holes of both annular members. Therefore, by sandwiching a tape roll between a pair of tape side plates and screwing each tape side plate to the tape core rod, the tape roll can be rotatably attached to the cutting tape core. Therefore, even when the maximum core width when the first and second annular members are engaged is set to 35 mm, the disengaged first and second annular members can accommodate conventional 45 mm-wide cutting tape rolls.

As mentioned above, when rotating the first and second annular members relative to one another to change the core width of the cutting tape core, or when engaging or disengaging the two annular members, it is likely that the worker will handle the first and second annular members by grasping the outer surfaces of the tubular bodies with the fingers of each hand. Therefore, forming multiple grooves along the central axis of the tubular bodies around the entire outer surface of each tubular body will prevent the fingers from slipping, making them easier to handle.

Furthermore, it is desirable that the partition wall between the first annular member and the second annular member, where at least the engagement hole groups are formed, has a thickness greater in the inner peripheral region where the engagement hole groups around the insertion holes are formed, than in the outer peripheral region. This thickness ensures that each engagement hole has a sufficient length to form hook portions at different positions along the insertion direction of the engagement post.

However, if the first and second annular members are identical in shape and have a thick inner circumferential region in which a group of engagement holes is formed in the partition wall between them, the height of this inner circumferential region toward the engagement side should be such that, even if the tip surfaces of the inner circumferential regions butt against each other, the engagement between the first and second annular members is not hindered at the shortest distance.

Furthermore, when the first and second annular members are engaged at the shortest possible distance, if the tip surfaces of their inner circumferential regions butt against each other, the engagement posts are prevented from penetrating deeper into the inserted engagement holes than in this engaged state, and the thick inner circumferential regions that butt against each other function as ribs that increase the axial mechanical strength of the cutting tape core.

Furthermore, to prevent even slight bending or flexing of each engaging post, a rib post may be provided adjacent to the engaging post and protrude from the outer periphery of the partition wall, providing mechanical strength in the protruding direction at the rear of the outer periphery of each engaging post. This rib post is also designed to be of a height that will not interfere with the engagement between the first and second annular members at the shortest distance, even if it butts against the outer periphery of the opposing partition wall.

The engagement means for the cutting tape core of the present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned latching mechanism between the engagement post and engagement hole, but other mechanisms are also possible. For example, a mechanism could be considered in which the first and second annular members have overlapping portions that allow them to slide toward and away from each other along the central axis, and the two annular members are fixed together with an engagement member at a sliding position where the distance between the first and second annular members corresponds to a predetermined core width, thereby achieving an engaged state.

Specific configurations of this engagement means include a first annular member and a second annular member having the same shape that can be molded using the same mold, each of which has two or more inner wall portions extending from the partition wall on a concentric circle inside the tubular body, the tubular body consisting of two or more body wall portions having the same arc length arranged intermittently at equal angular intervals, the inner wall portions being arranged alternately with the body wall portions so as to fill the inner regions of each missing arc region between the body wall portions, and each of the body wall portions of the first annular member being overlapped on the outside of each of the inner wall portions of the opposing second annular member, and at the same time, each of the body wall portions of the second annular member being overlapped on the outside of each of the inner wall portions of the first annular member, allowing the members to slide toward and away from each other along the central axis. The outer surfaces of the main body walls of the first and second annular members are formed with two or more parallel engagement grooves of the same width around the entire circumference of the tubular member at different positions in the central axis direction, and the engagement grooves of the first and second annular members are arranged at two predetermined different intervals in the central axis direction between the first and second annular members, with at least one groove of one annular member and at least one groove of the other annular member aligned on the same circumference, and the device further includes an elastic ring that fits into the aligned engagement grooves of the first and second annular members to secure the engagement between the first and second annular members.

In a cutting tape core with the above configuration, the engagement between the identically shaped first cylindrical member and second annular member, which determines the core width of the cutting tape core, depends on which of the two or more engagement grooves formed on the outer surface of each main body wall are aligned to align on the same circumference. In other words, the spacing between the two cylindrical members varies depending on the combination of engagement grooves selected. Therefore, by appropriately setting the number and spacing of the engagement grooves, different types of cutting tape core widths can be obtained by varying the spacing between the first and second annular members, and desired core widths can be freely changed, for example, three types of core widths corresponding to the three cutting tape widths mentioned above that have become mainstream in recent years. The first and second annular members with this configuration can also be manufactured integrally using the same mold, allowing for mass production at low cost, and they are interchangeable as accessories. Additionally, a standard O-ring can be used as the elastic ring that fits into the aligned engagement grooves on the same circumference to secure the engagement between the first and second annular members, as long as it matches the diameter and width of the circumference made up of all the engagement grooves that fit into it.

As one embodiment of the present invention, a cutting tape core consisting of a first annular member and a second annular member made of identical plastic shapes is shown in Figures 1 to 4. Figure 1 is a schematic diagram, where (a) is an exploded view showing the components of the attachment mechanism including the cutting tape core, and (b) is an enlarged view showing the cutting tape core in (a) in a disengaged state. Figure 2 is a schematic side view of the cutting tape core 1. Figure 3 is a schematic diagram of the first and second annular members, where (a) is a front view, (b) is a rear view, (c) is a side view, (d) is a side cross-sectional view, and (e) is a perspective view. Note that the tape attachment mechanism using the cutting tape core 1 of this embodiment can share the conventional components attached to the wallpaper gluing machine shown in Figure 8.

The cutting tape core 1 according to this embodiment is composed of two components, a first annular member 10A and a second annular member 10B, which are releasably engaged with each other, and the engagement state of the two components forms a single, approximately cylindrical outer shape. In this embodiment, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B have the same shape and face each other, forming an engaged state at three different intervals as shown in Figure 4. In other words, as described below, three different core widths are provided: a first core width W1, a second core width W2, and a third core width W3.

The first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B each include a tubular body 11, a partition wall 12 extending inward from the inner periphery of the tubular body 11, and an insertion hole portion 13 that is arranged in the partition wall 12 coaxially with the central axis S of the tubular body 11 and forms an insertion hole through which a tape core rod 130 is inserted.

The partition wall 12 has an inner circumferential region 14 around the insertion hole 13 that is thicker than its outer circumferential region 15. Three engagement posts 40 are provided in the thick inner circumferential region 14 at equal angular intervals of 120 degrees, extending in a direction generally parallel to the central axis S of the tubular body 11. Each engagement post 40 has a protrusion 41 protruding from the side of its tip facing the central axis S. The inner circumferential region 14 between the engagement posts 40 is formed with three engagement hole groups (20X, 20Y, 20Z), each consisting of multiple engagement holes for receiving the opposing engagement post. Each engagement group (20X, 20Y, 20Z) is composed of three types of engagement holes: first engagement holes 21, second engagement holes 22, and third engagement holes 23, arranged at equal angular intervals.

The first, second, and third engagement holes (21, 22, 23) each have a locking portion (31, 32, 33) formed at a different position inside along the direction in which the engagement post 40 is received, for locking the protrusion 41 of the engagement post 40. As shown in the cross-sectional views of Figure 4, the inner diameter of each engagement hole (21, 22, 23) is approximately the same as the outer diameter of the engagement post 40 except for the tip where the protrusion 41 is located, from the front to the back along the insertion direction of the engagement post 40 to the locking portion (31, 32, 33), and the diameter expands from the locking portion (31, 32, 33) to the back so that the tip where the protrusion 41 is located can fit.

The first engagement hole 21 has a hook portion 31 at the frontmost position in the insertion direction of the engagement post 40 (Figure 4(a)), the second engagement hole 22 has a hook portion 32 at the middle position in the insertion direction of the engagement post 40 (Figure 4(b)), and the third engagement hole 23 has a hook portion 33 at the backmost position in the insertion direction of the engagement post 40 (Figure 4(c)).

The three engaging posts 40 on each of the first and second annular members 10A and 10B are inserted into one of the engaging holes in the opposing annular members, and the protrusions 41 are engaged with the latches formed in each engaging hole, thereby engaging the first and second annular members 10A and 10B and forming a single cutting tape core 1.

Therefore, when the three engaging posts 40 of each annular member (10A, 10B) are inserted into the first engaging holes 21 of the corresponding engaging hole group of the opposing annular member (10A, 10B) and the protrusions 41 are engaged with the hooking portions 31, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B are engaged with each other at the maximum distance, providing the cutting tape core 1 with the maximum first core width W1 shown in Figure 2(a). When the protrusions 41 are inserted into the second engaging holes 22 and engaged with the hooking portions 31, When hooked onto the third engagement hole 23, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B engage with each other at an intermediate distance, providing the cutting tape core 1 with the intermediate second core width W2 shown in FIG. 2(b). When inserted into the third engagement hole 23 and its protrusion 41 engages with the hooking portion 33, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B engage with each other at a minimum distance, providing the cutting tape core 1 with the minimum third core width W3 shown in FIG. 2(c).

In this embodiment, the three core widths (first core width W1, second core width W2, and third core width W3) are designed to be 35 mm, 30 mm, and 25 mm, respectively, allowing the engagement state to be freely selected and changed to accommodate the cutting tape widths that have become mainstream in recent years.

In this embodiment, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B are made of plastic, and their elasticity is utilized to insert and remove the engaging posts 40 from the engaging holes, and to engage and release the protrusions from the engaging portions.

First, when the engagement post 40 is inserted and pushed into the engagement hole, the protrusion 41 at its tip pushes against the inner wall of the engagement hole, advancing to the back. When the protrusion 41 overcomes the latch portion and reaches the enlarged diameter area of the latch portion, the inner wall of the engagement hole returns from the expanded state to an inward position, holding the outer periphery of the engagement post 40. At the same time, the protrusion 41 is latched and held in place by the latch portion so that movement in the removal direction is restricted, and an engagement state is achieved between the engagement post 40 and the engagement hole, i.e., an engagement state between the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B. Furthermore, if the projection 41 is pulled slightly harder in the direction of pulling out the engagement post 40 while it is still engaged with the engagement portion, the elasticity of the member will cause the projection 41 to disengage from the engagement portion and return to the front while pushing against the inner wall of the engagement hole, eventually removing the engagement post 40 from the engagement hole and releasing the engagement between the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B.

Therefore, when changing the core width of the cutting tape core 1, since the constituent engagement holes of each engagement hole group (20X, 20Y, 20Z) are of the same type and arranged in the same order at equal angles, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B are rotated relative to each other around the same central axis S by a predetermined angle, one clockwise and the other counterclockwise, to position the engagement posts facing the engagement holes that will result in the desired core width, and then the engagement posts 40 are inserted into the engagement holes to establish an engaged state.

To prevent even the slightest bending or flexing of each engaging post 40, a rib post 42 is provided on the rear outer periphery of each engaging post 40 to provide mechanical strength in the direction of protrusion of the engaging post. The rib posts 42 are connected to the engaging post 40 and protrude into the outer periphery region 15 of the partition wall 12. The height of these rib posts 42 is set to be equal to or less than the height at which they abut against the outer periphery region of the opposing partition wall when the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B are engaged at the shortest possible interval.

As described above, when setting up the wallpaper gluer at a wallpaper installation site to glue the wallpaper onto the cloth C using the wallpaper gluer, the cutting tape core 1 of this embodiment can be attached to the wallpaper gluer via the attachment mechanism in the same manner as conventional cutting tape cores by engaging the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B so that the core width corresponds to the width of the cutting tape T being used.

As shown in Figure 9, a circular ring 145 protruding to a height of several millimeters is concentrically formed on the inner surface of the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B) of the attachment mechanism around the cylindrical member 144 that provides the through-hole 141. In contrast, in the conventional cutting tape core 200, the inner diameter of both ends of the cylindrical body 201 is matched to the outer diameter of this circular ring 145, and when the tape roll TR is attached, the ends of the cutting tape core 200 are fitted onto the outer periphery of this circular ring 145, at which time both ends of the cutting tape core 200 abut against the inner surfaces of the tape side plates (140A, 140B).

Therefore, when the tape roll TR is sandwiched between the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B) and screwed onto the tape core rod 130, if the side of the tape roll TR comes into contact with and presses against the inner surfaces of the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B), the tape roll TR is prevented from rotating freely, hindering the unwinding of the cut tape T. Therefore, in the past, it was necessary to fine-tune the screw-fixing positions of the tape side plates (140A, 140B) relative to the tape core rod 130 so that the tape roll TR could rotate freely without its side being pressed against the inner surfaces of the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B). This fine adjustment requires a time-consuming process of incorporating the tape roll TR into the mounting mechanism via the cut tape core 200 and attaching it to the wallpaper gluing machine.

In contrast, in the cutting tape core 1 of this embodiment, the outer end of the thick inner peripheral region 14 protrudes by only a few millimeters from the outer end of the tubular body 11 of the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B. As a result, the outer end of the protruding inner peripheral region 14 of the first and second annular members (10A, 10B) of the cutting tape core 1 fitted into the axle tube of the tape roll TR abuts against the end of the tubular member 144 that forms the through hole 141 of the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B), and both ends of the tubular body 11 of the first and second annular members (10A, 10B) face each other with a small gap, without abutting against the inner surfaces of the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B) around the annular portion 145.

As a result, due to this slight gap, the side of the tape roll TR sandwiched between the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B) is not pressed against the inner surfaces of the pair of tape side plates (140A, 140B), eliminating the need for fine adjustments as described above, simplifying the process of incorporating the tape roll TR into the mounting mechanism via the cut tape core 1 and attaching it to the wallpaper pasting machine.

As mentioned above, to change the core width of the cutting tape core 1 according to this embodiment, first, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B are pulled toward each other, disengaging them using the elasticity of the members. Then, the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B are rotated relative to each other a predetermined angle, one clockwise and the other counterclockwise, about the same central axis S, until the engaging posts are positioned facing the engaging holes that will result in the desired core width, and the engaging posts 40 are then pushed into the engaging holes to achieve the engaged state. Therefore, the actual engagement or disengagement is performed by the operator by grasping the tubular bodies 11 of the first annular member 10A and the second annular member 10B with their fingertips.

Therefore, measures may be taken to make the first and second annular members easier to handle. For example, in the cutting tape core 50 shown in Figure 5, which is made up of a first annular member 50A and a second annular member 50B, multiple grooves 56 are formed at equal intervals along the central axis of the cutting tape core around the entire outer surface of each tubular body 51 to prevent slippage.

In the thick inner peripheral region 54 around the insertion hole 53 of the partition wall 52, the inner end 57 primarily forms the peripheral wall edge of each engagement hole. If this inner end 57 has a height that causes the first annular member 50A and the second annular member 50B to butt against each other when engaged at the minimum distance, friction may occur between the abutting surfaces. Therefore, the peripheral wall edge of the inner end 57 is chamfered to reduce the abutting surface itself. Other than the grooves 56 and the chamfered inner end 57, the basic configuration of this cut tape core 5, including the engagement posts and engagement holes, is the same as that shown in Figure 1, and this does not affect the effect of being able to freely change the core width.

In the above example, the first and second annular members are provided with three engaging posts, and the corresponding three engaging hole groups are also shown as a three-group configuration. However, the cutting tape core of the present invention is not limited to this. For example, as long as a sufficient engagement state can be achieved, a two-group configuration with two engaging posts and two engaging hole groups, or a four-group configuration with four engaging posts and four engaging hole groups, are also possible.

Furthermore, in the above embodiment, one engagement hole group is formed from three types of engagement holes with different engagement positions per engagement post, allowing for three different core widths to be selected. However, the present invention is not limited to this configuration. In some cases, the engagement hole group may be formed from two types of engagement holes that allow for two different core widths to be selected, or four types of engagement holes that allow for four different core widths to be selected. However, for cut tape core diameters that depend on the axle tube diameter of current cut tape rolls, the most efficient and desirable configuration is one with three sets of three engagement posts and three engagement hole groups, with each engagement hole group consisting of three types of engagement holes, due to the ease of manufacturing based on the dimensions of each part and the ease of ensuring the strength to maintain the engagement when engaged.

Next, Figures 6 and 7 show examples of cut tape cores equipped with engagement means of a different mechanism than the cut tape cores shown in Figures 1 to 5 above. Figure 6 is a schematic diagram of the cut tape core of this cut tape core 60, with (a) being a perspective view showing the engaged state and (b) being an exploded view showing the disengaged state. Figure 7 is a perspective view, with the elastic ring omitted, showing the engagement state at core widths different from the core width of the cut tape core in Figure 6(a), with (a) showing the engagement state at the first core width, which is the smallest width; (b) showing the engagement state at the second core width, which is the next smallest width; (c) showing the engagement state at the fourth core width, which is wider than Figure 6(a); and (d) showing the engagement state at the fifth core width, which is the largest width.

This cutting tape core 60 is composed of a first annular member 60A and a second annular member 60B of the same shape that can be releasably engaged with each other. Each member has a tubular body 61, a partition wall 62 that extends inward from the inner circumference of the tubular body 61, and an insertion hole portion 63 that is coaxial with the central axis of the tubular body 61 in the partition wall 62 and forms an insertion hole through which the tape core rod 130 is inserted. In this respect, it shares a basic configuration with the cutting tape core shown in Figures 1 to 5 described above.

The first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B slide in opposite directions and, as described below, are configured to engage at three different intervals to provide three different core widths, as well as two wider core widths equivalent to the width of conventional cutting tape.

The first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B each have a tubular body 61 made up of three body wall portions 64, each having the same arc length of 60 degrees, arranged at equal angular intervals of 120 degrees, and three inner wall portions 65 extending from the partition wall 62 on concentric circles inside the tubular body 61. These inner wall portions 65 are arranged alternately with the body wall portions 64 so as to fill the inner areas of each missing arc area between the body wall portions 64. Therefore, the three inner wall portions 65 are arranged at equal angular intervals of 120 degrees, and each have the same arc length of 60 degrees.

Each of the main body wall portions 64 of the first annular member 60A is overlapped on the outside of each of the inner wall portions 65 of the opposing second annular member 60B, and at the same time, each of the main body wall portions 64 of the second annular member 60B is overlapped on the outside of each of the inner wall portions 65 of the first annular member 60A, allowing them to slide toward and away from each other along the central axis s.

On each outer surface of the main body wall portion 64 of the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B, three parallel engagement grooves (66Ax, 66Bx), second engagement grooves (66Ay, 66By), and third engagement grooves (66Az, 66Bz) are formed around the entire circumference of the tubular main body 61 at three different positions in the direction of the central axis s, in order from the outside to the inside of the cutting tape core 60, with the same groove width. The first to third engagement grooves (66Ax, 66Ay, 66Az) of the first annular member 60A and the first to third engagement grooves (66Bx, 66By, 66Bz) of the second annular member 60B are arranged at three different predetermined intervals in the direction of the central axis s of the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B, with at least one groove from one annular member and at least one groove from the other annular member lined up on the same circumference.

For example, as shown in FIG. 6(a), when the third engagement groove 66Az of the first annular member 60A and the third engagement groove 66Bz of the second annular member 60B are aligned on the same circumference, the distance between the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B is the largest of the three, and the cutting tape core 60 has the third core width, which is the largest of the three basic core widths. By fitting a single elastic O-ring OR into all of the third engagement grooves (66Az, 66Bz) with these third engagement grooves (66Az, 66Bz) aligned on the same circumference, the engagement between the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B is fixed at the third core width.

7(a), when the second engagement groove 66Ay of the first annular member 60A and the second engagement groove 66By of the second annular member 60B are aligned on the same circumference, the distance between the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B is the smallest of the three, and the cutting tape core 60 has the first core width, which is the smallest of the three basic core widths. By fitting one elastic ring (O-ring) OR into all second engagement grooves (66Ay, 66By) with these second engagement grooves (66Ay, 66By) aligned on the same circumference, the engagement between the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B is fixed at the first core width. The first to third engagement grooves (66Ax, 66Ay, 66Az), (66Bx, 66By, 66Bz) are arranged at equal intervals from one another, and when forming this first core width, the first engagement groove 66Ax of the first annular member 60A and the third engagement groove 66Bz of the second annular member 60B are aligned on the same circumference, while the third engagement groove 66Az of the first annular member 60A and the first engagement groove 66Bx of the second annular member 60B are aligned on another parallel circumference.

Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 7(b), when the second engagement groove 66Ay of the first annular member 60A and the third engagement groove 66Bz of the second annular member 60B are aligned on the same circumference, and the third engagement groove 66Az of the first annular member 60A and the second engagement groove 66By of the second annular member 60B are aligned on the same circumference, the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B are positioned at an intermediate spacing among the three, and the cutting tape core 60 has a second core width, which is intermediate among the three basic core widths. Therefore, by fitting an elastic ring OR into the engagement grooves aligned on one of the two concentric circles, the engagement state between the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B can be fixed at the second core width.

In the above configuration, by appropriately setting the positions and spacing of the first engagement grooves (66Ax, 66Bx), second engagement grooves (66Ay, 66By), and third engagement grooves (66Az, 66Bz), the three resulting core widths (first core width, second core width, and third core width) can be made to correspond to the cutting tape widths of 25mm, 30mm, and 35mm that are mainstream in recent years. Furthermore, because the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B have the same shape and can be molded using the same mold, they can be attached to a wallpaper gluing machine as interchangeable components.

In addition, an even larger core width can be achieved by adding additional engagement grooves to the outer surfaces of the main body wall portions 64 of the first annular member 60A and the second annular member 60B. For example, by providing fourth engagement grooves (67A, 67B) on the open end side of the main body wall portion 64, as shown in Figure 7(c), one fourth engagement groove (67A, 67B) is aligned with the other second engagement groove (66Ay, 66By) on the same circumference, and the engagement state is fixed with an elastic ring OR, thereby obtaining a fourth core width larger than the third core width, which is the largest of the three basic core widths.

Furthermore, if the fourth engagement grooves (67A, 67B) on one side are aligned with the third engagement grooves (66Az, 66Bz) on the other side so that they are aligned on the same circumference, and the engagement state is fixed with an elastic ring OR, an even larger fifth core width can be obtained. Therefore, these fourth and fifth core widths can be made equivalent to the widths of conventional wide cutting tapes, 40 mm and 45 mm. This means that a single cutting tape core 60 consisting of a pair of first annular member 60A and second annular member 60B can be used with a variety of cutting tapes, from recent narrow types to conventional wide types.

The cutting tape core of the present invention can be applied not only to rolls of cutting tape, but also to various rolls of tape that are expected to be reeled out and attached to wallpaper gluing machines, such as underlayment tape and masking tape, which are used to prevent cutting into the wall surface of the lower wall covering when cutting overlapping.
