Description

The present invention relates to an applicator container equipped with an applicator for applying the liquid content.

Conventionally, applicator containers equipped with a brush-like or writing-pen-like applicator, as shown in Patent Documents 1 and 2, for example, have been known as containers for holding liquid contents such as nail polish, pedicure, liquid lip balm, and mascara. Such applicator containers include a container that holds the liquid contents inside a mouth that is open at the top, and an applicator cap that has an applicator attached to the tip of a stem that extends inside the mouth. When the applicator cap is attached to the container, the applicator attached to the tip of the stem is located near the bottom of the container. In other words, with such applicator containers, the liquid contents can be applied to the applicator even when the remaining amount of liquid in the container becomes relatively low.

Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2003-175961

As the amount of liquid remaining in the container decreases, the liquid no longer adheres to the tip of the applicator, but even in this case, the liquid remains attached to the bottom of the container. However, in conventional applicator containers, the shaft extends straight through the center of the mouth, and the tip of the applicator is located near the center of the bottom of the container, making it difficult to adhere the liquid remaining around the outer edge of the bottom of the container to the applicator. This poses the problem of not being able to use up all the liquid stored in the container.

There are also known containers in which the bottom is formed in a cone shape so that the liquid contents gather near the center of the bottom of the container. However, this creates a thick section at the bottom of the container, which can lead to sink marks when the container is molded from synthetic resin, and limits the materials that can be used. It is also possible to avoid thick sections by constructing the bottom of the container from multiple components, but this increases the number of parts, which inevitably leads to higher costs.

In light of these issues, the present invention aims to provide an applicator container that can keep costs down and still allow the liquid inside to be applied to an applicator even when the amount of liquid inside is low.

The present invention provides an applicator container comprising a container that stores a liquid content inside a mouth portion that is open at the top, and an applicator-equipped cap that extends inside the mouth portion and has an applicator at its tip,
The applicator cap includes:
a lid body portion having a first engagement portion and attached to the opening portion;
a shaft-shaped portion having a second engaging portion that engages with the first engaging portion and that extends inside the mouth portion when the lid body portion is attached to the mouth portion;
a tilting section that holds the applicator and is attached to the shaft section so as to be tiltable about the axis of the shaft section, and that causes the applicator to come into contact with the bottom of the container and be displaced to a tilted position when the lid section is attached to the opening section,
the lid body portion includes a cylindrical inner peripheral wall centered on the axis line, and an outer peripheral wall positioned outside the inner peripheral wall and held rotatably and undetachably relative to the inner peripheral wall,
the shaft-shaped portion includes a protrusion portion that protrudes radially outward from the inside of the inner circumferential wall and functions as the second engagement portion,
the inner peripheral wall has a lid-side threaded portion that screws into a container-side threaded portion provided in the opening, and a circumferential groove portion through which the protrusion is inserted and that extends in a direction circumferentially around the axis,
the outer peripheral wall has the first engaging portion with which the protrusion inserted through the circumferential groove portion engages,
When the lid body portion is rotated in a direction orbiting the axis, the tilting portion rotates together with the shaft-shaped portion due to the second engaging portion engaging with the first engaging portion, which is an application container.

the outer peripheral wall has a spiral groove portion that functions as the first engagement portion by engaging with the protrusion portion that has passed through the circumferential groove portion,
the spiral groove extends spirally in a direction that causes the protrusion to rise relative to the outer peripheral wall when the outer peripheral wall is rotated in a direction that loosens the engagement between the container-side threaded portion and the lid-side threaded portion,
It is preferable that the inner wall has an ascending groove portion connected to the circumferential groove portion, which allows the protrusion portion to ascend due to the spiral groove portion when the outer wall is rotated in the direction that loosens the threaded engagement between the container side thread portion and the lid side thread portion.

the applicator cap has a cylindrical portion through which the shaft portion is inserted,
It is preferable that the cylindrical portion has a regulating portion that engages with at least one of the applicator and the tilting portion to regulate the tilting of the tilting portion when the outer wall is rotated in the direction in which the lid side threaded portion loosens relative to the container side threaded portion and the shaft-shaped portion rises relative to the outer wall.

The cap with applicator for the applicator container of the present invention comprises the lid, shaft, and tilting portion as described above. When the lid is attached to the mouth, the applicator contacts the bottom of the container and the tilting portion is displaced to a tilted position. That is, the applicator attached to the tilting portion is also displaced to a tilted position, and is pointed toward the outer edge of the bottom of the container. When the lid is rotated around the axis, the tilting portion rotates together with the shaft, and the applicator attached to the tilting portion also rotates. Therefore, even if the amount of liquid contained in the container becomes low, the liquid remaining at the bottom (particularly the outer edge of the bottom) can be applied to the applicator.

The lid portion comprises a cylindrical inner wall centered on the axis, and an outer wall located outside the inner wall and held rotatably relative to the inner wall so as not to be removed. The shaft-shaped portion comprises a protrusion that protrudes radially outward from the inside of the inner wall and functions as the second engagement portion. The inner wall has a lid-side threaded portion that threadably engages with a container-side threaded portion provided in the opening, and a circumferential groove through which the protrusion is inserted and which extends in a direction orbiting the axis. When the outer wall has the first engagement portion into which the protrusion inserted through the circumferential groove engages, rotating the outer wall in the direction that loosens the engagement between the container-side threaded portion and the lid-side threaded portion causes the first engagement portion of the outer wall to rotate the protrusion, which moves along the circumferential groove. As a result, the tilting portion and the applicator rotate together with the shaft-shaped portion with the applicator cap attached to the container. This allows the liquid content remaining at the bottom to be applied to the applicator. When the protrusion has finished moving along the circumferential groove and the inner peripheral wall begins to rotate together with the outer peripheral wall, the threaded portion on the container and the threaded portion on the lid loosen, allowing the applicator cap to be removed from the container. In other words, with this configuration, any liquid remaining at the bottom can be applied to the applicator during the process of removing the applicator cap from the container, making it extremely easy to use.

The outer peripheral wall has a spiral groove that engages with the protrusion inserted through the circumferential groove and functions as the first engagement portion, and the spiral groove extends spirally in a direction that causes the protrusion to rise relative to the outer peripheral wall when the outer peripheral wall is rotated in a direction that loosens the engagement between the container-side threaded portion and the lid-side threaded portion. The inner peripheral wall is connected to the circumferential groove and has an elevation groove that allows the protrusion to rise due to the spiral groove when the outer peripheral wall is rotated in a direction that loosens the engagement between the container-side threaded portion and the lid-side threaded portion. In this case, the shaft can be elevated when the applicator cap is removed from the container. In other words, removing the applicator cap shortens the length of the shaft protruding from the lid, allowing the applicator to be brought closer to the lid. In other words, with this configuration, the distance between the fingers holding the lid and the applicator is shortened, making it easier to apply the content liquid to the target. Additionally, the distance between the lid body and the applicator can be automatically shortened during the process of removing the applicator cap, making it extremely easy to use.

The applicator cap has a cylindrical portion through which the shaft portion passes, and the cylindrical portion has a lower end that engages with at least one of the applicator and the tilting portion to regulate tilting of the tilting portion when the outer wall is rotated in the direction that loosens the lid-side threaded portion relative to the container-side threaded portion, causing the shaft portion to rise relative to the outer wall. In this case, tilting of the tilting portion can be automatically regulated during the action of removing the applicator cap from the container, and the applicator will not tilt when applying the contents to the application surface, making the application of the contents easier.

One embodiment of an applicator container (applicator container 10) according to the present invention will now be described with reference to the drawings. In this specification and elsewhere, the "up-down" direction refers to the direction along the illustrated axis O (the central axis of the shaft-shaped member 5, described below). When the applicator container 10 is held upright as shown in FIG. 1, the side on which the container body 1 is located is the "bottom" and the side on which the outer cap 3 is located is the "top." Furthermore, the "radial" direction refers to the direction perpendicular to the axis O within a plane perpendicular to the axis O, and the "circumferential" direction refers to the direction circumferentially around the axis O within this plane.

The applicator container 10 of this embodiment includes a container 11 and an applicator-equipped cap 12. The container 11 is composed of a container body 1 and a wiping member 2. The applicator-equipped cap 12 is composed of an outer cap 3, an inner cap 4, an axis-shaped member 5, a cylindrical member 6, a tilting member 7, and an applicator 8. The outer cap 3 and the inner cap 4 are members that make up the "lid body portion" in this specification. The axis-shaped member 5 is a member that corresponds to the "axis-shaped portion" in this specification, the cylindrical member 6 is a member that corresponds to the "cylindrical portion" in this specification, and the tilting member 7 is a member that corresponds to the "tilting portion" in this specification. In this embodiment, each of the above-mentioned members is basically shaped with the axis O as its center.

The container body 1 is shaped like a cylinder with a bottom, and includes a disk-shaped bottom 1a, a cylindrical body 1b that rises upward from the edge of the bottom 1a, a cylindrical mouth 1c that is open at the top and connected to the body 1b at the bottom, and has a smaller outer diameter than the body 1b, and a male-threaded container-side thread 1d provided on the outer surface of the mouth 1c. Inside the mouth 1c, a storage space S is defined in which the contents, such as nail polish, are stored.

The squeezing member 2 comprises a flange portion 2a extending horizontally and a tubular portion 2b extending downward from the inner edge of the flange portion 2a, with its lower end extending radially inward. A through hole is provided in the center of the tubular portion 2b. The area surrounding the through hole in the tubular portion 2b is referred to as the inner edge portion 2c. The squeezing member 2 is formed from a relatively soft material such as rubber, elastomer, or polyethylene (PE), and the tubular portion 2b is flexible. The squeezing member 2 is inserted inside the mouth portion 1c and is held in the container body 1 so that the flange portion 2a abuts against the upper end of the mouth portion 1c and the tubular portion 2b abuts against the inner surface of the mouth portion 1c.

The outer cap 3 has a disk-shaped top wall 3a and a cylindrical outer wall 3b extending downward from the outer edge of the top wall 3a, forming a closed-cap shape. In this embodiment, the outer cap 3 has a helical groove 3c on the inner surface of the outer wall 3b, which extends spirally around the axis O. In this embodiment, the helical groove 3c extends upward when moving clockwise in a plan view. The helical groove 3c shown by the imaginary line in Figure 1 is viewed from the radially outer side relative to the axis O. The helical groove 3c corresponds to the "first engagement portion" in this specification. Beneath the helical groove 3c, an annular recess 3d is provided, recessing the inner surface of the outer wall 3b radially outward.

The inner cap 4 has a cylindrical inner wall 4a that is open at the top. As shown in FIG. 2, the upper part of the inner wall 4a is provided with a circumferential groove 4b and an ascending groove 4c that penetrate the inner wall 4a. Note that FIG. 2 shows the circumferential groove 4b and the ascending groove 4c in a flattened view of the cylindrical inner wall 4a. Also, FIG. 2 shows the spiral groove 3c and the protrusion 5e (described later) in phantom lines. In this embodiment, the circumferential groove 4b and the ascending groove 4c are provided as a pair on either side of the axis O. The circumferential groove 4b extends in a direction orbiting the axis O, and in this embodiment, the length of the ascending groove 4c is approximately halfway around the entire circumference of the inner wall 4a. As shown in FIG. 2, the ascending groove 4c is connected to the right end of the inner wall 4a in a side view and extends from there, sloping upward toward the right. In other words, the ascending groove portion 4c extends spirally upward when moving counterclockwise in a plan view.

Furthermore, the inner cap 4 has an annular protrusion 4d that protrudes radially outward from the outer surface of the inner peripheral wall 4a below the circumferential groove 4b and the rising groove 4c and engages with the annular recess 3d. The engagement between the annular recess 3d and the annular protrusion 4d holds the outer cap 3 rotatably and securely relative to the inner cap 4. The inner peripheral surface of the inner peripheral wall 4a is provided with an inward flange 4e that protrudes radially inward, and a lid-side threaded portion 4f that is formed as an internal thread and threads into the container-side threaded portion 1d. In this embodiment, the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f have a right-handed thread relationship (in a plan view, when the inner cap 4 is rotated clockwise relative to the container body 1, the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f thread together).

The shaft-shaped member 5 has an annular wall 5a having a circular cylindrical shape. A disk-shaped wall 5b is connected to the lower end of the annular wall 5a, and a cylindrical shaft 5c extending downward is provided in the center of the disk-shaped wall 5b. A support portion 5d formed into a concave spherical surface is provided at the lower end of the cylindrical shaft 5c. Furthermore, a cylindrical protrusion 5e protruding radially outward is provided on the outer circumferential surface of the annular wall 5a. In this embodiment, a pair of protrusions 5e are provided on either side of the axis O, and each protrusion 5e passes through the circumferential groove portion 4b or the ascending groove portion 4c and engages with the spiral groove portion 3c. The protrusion 5e corresponds to the "second engagement portion" in this specification.

The tubular member 6 has a cylindrical tubular main body 6a. As shown in the figure, a cylindrical shaft 5c is inserted into the inside of the tubular main body 6a. The tubular member 6 is also inserted into the squeezing member 2 as shown in the figure, and when inserted into the squeezing member 2, the inner edge 2c contacts the outer peripheral surface of the tubular member 6. The lower end 6b of the tubular main body 6a corresponds to the "regulating portion" in this specification and has the function of engaging with the applicator 8 to regulate the tilting of the tilting member 7, as described below. The upper end of the tubular main body 6a is provided with an outward flange 6c that protrudes radially outward, and the upper surface of the outward flange 6c is provided with a retaining portion 6d that has a claw-like cross-section in side view. The retaining portion 6d engages with the inward flange 4e when the outward flange 6c is positioned below the inward flange 4e, thereby retaining the tubular member 6 in the inner cap 4.

The tilting member 7 is cylindrical and includes a holding tube portion 7a that holds the applicator 8. A spherical connecting portion 7b is provided at the upper end of the holding tube portion 7a. The spherical connecting portion 7b is configured to be slidably held relative to the support portion 5d, which has a concave spherical surface. In other words, the tilting member 7, which is attached to the shaft-shaped member 5 so that the spherical connecting portion 7b is held by the support portion 5d, can tilt relative to the axis O of the cylindrical shaft 5c.

The applicator 8 comprises an applicator section 8a for applying the liquid content, a cylindrical fitting section 8b provided at the top of the applicator section 8a, and a cylindrical applicator holder section 8c that is inserted into the holding tube section 7a to hold the applicator 8 on the tilting member 7. The applicator section 8a may be, for example, brush-shaped, sponge-shaped, or pencil-shaped, with the most suitable shape selected depending on the type of liquid content and the area to which the liquid content is to be applied.

As shown in Figure 1, in the application container 10 configured as described above, when the lid-side threaded portion 4f of the inner cap 4 is threadedly engaged with the container-side threaded portion 1d of the container body 1, the flange portion 2a of the squeezing member 2 is sandwiched between the mouth portion 1c and the outward flange 6c. This seals the storage space S, thereby preventing evaporation of the contents. In this state, the protrusion 5e is located near the left end of the circumferential groove 4b shown in Figure 2, and the shaft-shaped member 5 is at its lowest position relative to the inner cap 4. In this state, the protrusion 5e is engaged with the spiral groove 3c as shown in Figure 2. In this state, the support portion 5d and the spherical connecting portion 7b are located below the lower end 6b. The tip of the application portion 8a is in contact with the bottom portion 1a, causing the tilting member 7 to be tilted relative to the axis O, and the application portion 8a is oriented toward the outer edge of the bottom portion 1a (the connecting portion between the bottom portion 1a and the body portion 1b). In the state shown in Figure 1, the amount of liquid contained in the storage space S has decreased, with only a small amount remaining adhering to the bottom 1a.

To apply the liquid content with the applicator 8, as shown in Figure 3, the outer cap 3 is rotated counterclockwise in plan view. This causes the spiral groove 3c to move to the right in the state shown in Figure 2. Note that the protrusion 5e is engaged with the circumferential groove 4b as well as the spiral groove 3c. Therefore, although the protrusion 5e receives a force directed diagonally upward to the right in the state shown in Figure 2 from the spiral groove 3c, its movement in the vertical direction is restricted by the circumferential groove 4b, so it moves to the right in the state shown in Figure 2. In other words, the shaft-shaped member 5 rotates counterclockwise in plan view around the axis O without moving vertically. As a result, the tilting member 7 and applicator 8 rotate together with the shaft-shaped member 5 without moving vertically, allowing the liquid content remaining on the bottom 1a to be applied to the applicator 8.

When the outer cap 3 is further rotated counterclockwise, the protrusion 5e moves to the point where the circumferential groove 4b and the ascending groove 4c connect. As described above, the protrusion 5e receives a force directed diagonally upward to the right by the spiral groove 3c in the state shown in Figure 2, and therefore moves from the circumferential groove 4b to the ascending groove 4c. In other words, the shaft-shaped member 5 moves upward while rotating counterclockwise in a plan view around the axis O. When the upper end of the annular wall 5a of the ascending shaft-shaped member 5 contacts the outer cap 3, the inner cap 4, together with the shaft-shaped member 5, also rotates counterclockwise in a plan view around the axis O. Therefore, the threaded engagement between the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f loosens, and the applicator cap 12 can be removed from the container 11 as shown in Figure 4. Furthermore, when the applicator cap 12 is attached to the container 11, the inner edge 2c of the wiping member 2 is in contact with the outer surface of the cylindrical main body 6a. Therefore, even if the liquid contents are attached to the cylindrical main body 6a, the liquid contents can be scraped off with the wiping member 2 when the applicator cap 12 is removed from the container 11.

Furthermore, as shown in Figure 4, when the shaft-shaped member 5 is raised, the support portion 5d and the spherical connecting portion 7b move toward the inside of the cylindrical main body portion 6a, and the fitting portion 8b is inserted into the lower end portion 6b, engaging the lower end portion 6b and the fitting portion 8b. In other words, in this state, the tilting of the tilting member 7 is restricted, and the applicator 8 is held in the cylindrical member 6 with the applicator portion 8a pointing toward the axis O. Furthermore, in this state, the applicator 8 is closer to the outer cap 3 than when the applicator cap 12 is attached to the container 11. Therefore, with the applicator container 10 of this embodiment, the applicator 8 does not tilt when applying the content liquid to the application target, and the distance between the applicator 8 and the fingers holding the outer cap 3 is shortened, making the application of the content liquid easier. Furthermore, the tilting of the applicator 8 is automatically restricted during the operation of removing the applicator cap 12 from the container 11, and the applicator 8 is automatically brought closer to the outer cap 3, providing excellent usability.

To attach the removed applicator cap 12 to the container 11, insert the applicator 8 into the squeezing member 2, move the applicator cap 12 downward, and then rotate the outer cap 3 clockwise in plan view, as shown in Figure 5. This allows the container-side threaded portion 1d to thread into the lid-side threaded portion 4f, as shown in Figure 6. Continuing to rotate the outer cap 3 causes it to rotate clockwise relative to the inner cap 4. Specifically, as the outer cap 3 rotates relative to the inner cap 4, the protrusion 5e, which had moved toward the upward groove 4c in Figure 2, receives a downward force toward the left by the spiral groove 3c and moves toward the circumferential groove 4b. The shaft-shaped member 5 descends relative to the tubular member 6, causing the tip of the applicator 8 to contact the bottom 1a. In this state, the support portion 5d and the spherical connecting portion 7b have moved downward relative to the lower end 6b. Therefore, when the shaft-shaped member 5 moves further downward, the applicator 8 comes into contact with the bottom 1a, causing the tilting member 7 to tilt relative to the axis O, so that the applicator 8 can be directed toward the outer edge of the bottom 1a, as shown in Figure 1.

In the above explanation, when the outer cap 3 is rotated clockwise in a plan view, the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f first thread together, and then the outer cap 3 rotates relative to the inner cap 4, causing the shaft-shaped member 5 to descend. However, depending on the relationship between the sliding resistance of the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f and the sliding resistance of the protrusion 5e, the ascending groove 4c, the circumferential groove 4b, and the spiral groove 3c, the order may be reversed or these actions may occur simultaneously. Even if the outer cap 3 rotates relative to the inner cap 4 and the shaft-shaped member 5 descends before the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f thread together, when the protrusion 5e moves to the left end of the circumferential groove 4b as shown in Figure 2, the inner cap 4 rotates together with the outer cap 3, allowing the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f to thread together. Therefore, even if the outer cap 3 rotates relative to the inner cap 4 and the shaft-shaped member 5 descends before the container-side threaded portion 1d and the lid-side threaded portion 4f are threaded together, the applicator cap 12 can be securely attached to the container 11.
