Description
The present invention relates to a door renovation structure for renovating existing doors.
When renovating an existing door installed in an opening in a building, a common method is to remove the existing door from the existing door frame, install a new door frame so that it covers the existing door frame, and then attach the new door to this new door frame (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, conventional door renovation structures required the removal of the existing door and the installation of a new door frame and door, which increased the number of renovation steps and lengthened the construction time required.
Furthermore, in recent years, there has been a demand to achieve sustainable development goals such as efficient resource utilization and environmental considerations, which means that waste generated during renovations must also be minimized. However, with conventional door renovation structures, it was difficult to reduce waste because the existing doors had to be discarded.
The present invention aims to provide a door renovation structure that can shorten construction time during renovations and minimize waste generated by renovations.
The door renovation structure of the present invention is characterized by comprising a locking member that is attached to the exterior side of the existing door, and a new door that is locked to the locking member and covers the exterior surface of the existing door.
With the door renovation structure of the present invention, a locking member is attached to the exterior surface of the existing door, and a new door can be locked onto this locking member to renovate the door. This eliminates the need to remove the existing door, shortening the renovation work time and minimizing waste generated by the renovation.
Hereinafter, a door 1 employing a door modification structure according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the door 1 is an existing door that has been renovated by attaching a new door 30 to an existing door that has an existing frame 10 attached to a building and an existing door 20 that is attached to the existing frame 10 so that it can be opened and closed freely.
The existing frame 10 is composed of an upper frame 11, a lower frame 12, and left and right vertical frames 13. Each frame 11-13 is made by bending steel plate and is fixed to the framework of a building such as an office building or condominium. Each frame 11-13 has a recess that opens to the outside of the room, created by bending the steel plate, and airtight material 15 is attached to these recesses. An existing door 20 is attached to one of the vertical frames 13 with hinges 16.
The existing door 20 is comprised of a framework consisting of an upper frame 21, a lower frame 22, and left and right vertical frame 23, an exterior surface material 25 fixed to the exterior side of the framework, an interior surface material 26 fixed to the interior side of the framework, and an insulating core material 27 provided between the exterior surface material 25 and the interior surface material 26. The upper frame 21, lower frame 22, and vertical frame 23 are made of steel material with a U-shaped cross section. The exterior surface material 25 and the interior surface material 26 are made of decorative steel plate. The insulating core material 27 is made of aluminum hydroxide paper honeycomb, glass wool, or the like.
The existing door frame 10 and the existing door 20 described above constitute the existing door that was installed in the building before the renovation. The existing handle and lock that were previously installed on the existing door 20 are removed during the renovation, and new handles and locks (not shown) are installed during the renovation.
A locking member 40 for locking and attaching the new door 30 is attached to the exterior surface of the existing door 20. The locking member 40 is a metal fitting attached to two locations: the middle position in the vertical direction and the upper position at both left and right ends of the exterior surface of the existing door 20, i.e., the left and right positions where the vertical ribs 23 are located.
As shown in Fig. 3, the locking member 40 includes a fixing piece 41 and a locking piece 42. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the fixing piece 41 is fixed to the vertical frame 23 via the exterior surface material 25 with a flat head screw 44. For this reason, screw holes 411 are formed at two locations, above and below, of the fixing piece 41, as shown in Fig. 3. These screw holes 411 are countersunk holes, so that the heads of the flat head screws 44 do not protrude from the fixing piece 41 when the flat head screws 44 are screwed in. Furthermore, the flat head screws 44 are self-drilling screws that do not require pilot holes.
The locking piece 42 includes a connecting piece 421 bent toward the outside of the room from the vertical middle position of the fixed piece 41, and a locking piece 422 formed continuous with the connecting piece 421. The locking piece 422 has a vertical dimension larger than that of the connecting piece 421, and is configured so that the locking member 40 can be used even when turned upside down, allowing it to be used for both the left and right ends of the existing door 20. Note that the locking member 40 may be dedicated to each of the left and right ends, in which case the locking piece 422 only needs to protrude upward.
The locking piece 422 is inclined so that the distance between it and the fixed piece 41 decreases as it descends from the upper end toward the connecting piece 421. For this reason, a groove 43 is formed between the fixed piece 41 and the locking piece 422. The width dimension in the projection direction of the groove 43 is greatest at the upper end and decreases toward the lower end, i.e., the point where it is connected to the connecting piece 421.
As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the new door 30 is configured with a framework consisting of an upper frame 31, a lower frame 32, and left and right vertical frame 33, an exterior surface material 35 fixed to the exterior side of the framework, and a core material 36 provided on the interior side of the exterior surface material 35. As shown in Figure 4, the vertical frame 33 is configured of a steel material with a U-shaped cross section and including a recessed piece 331, an exterior facing piece 332, and an interior facing piece 333. The upper frame 31 and lower frame 32 are also configured of steel material with a U-shaped cross section.
A side plate 37 having an L-shaped cross section is fixed to each vertical frame 33. The side plate 37 is made of steel like the vertical frame 33, and includes a projection piece 371 fixed to the projection piece 331 of the vertical frame 33 and a sight piece 372 extending outward from the projection piece 371. The sight piece 372 of one side plate 37 is positioned on the exterior side of the hinge 16 so that the hinge 16 is not exposed to the exterior side.
The exterior surface material 35 is made of decorative steel plate. The upper and lower ends of the exterior surface material 35 are arranged to cover and fixed to the recessed pieces of the upper ribs 31 and lower ribs 32. The left and right ends of the exterior surface material 35 are bent from the exterior surface of the recessed pieces 372 of the side panel material 37 to the interior surface and fixed.
The upper frame 31 and lower frame 32 of the new door 30 are arranged on the exterior side of the upper frame 21 and lower frame 22 of the existing door 20, and are arranged side by side in the direction of the door 1. Therefore, the height dimension of the new door 30 is set to be the same as the height dimension of the existing door 20.
The left and right vertical frames 33 of the new door 30 are arranged on the exterior side of the left and right vertical frames 23 of the existing door 20, and are arranged side by side in the direction of the door 1. The width dimension of the exterior surface of the new door 30 is made larger than the width dimension of the existing door 20 by the amount of the side panel material 37 provided.
The new door 30 does not have an interior surface material. This is because the interior surface of the new door 30 is disposed opposite the existing door 20 and is not exposed to the outside.
A stainless steel base material 352 is attached to the exterior surface material 35 with screws 351, and an aluminum molding 353 is fitted and fixed to this base material 352. The molding 353 is a long member that continues in the vertical direction, and in the new door 30 of this embodiment, it is provided in two locations, one on the left and one on the right of the exterior surface material 35. The presence or absence of the molding 353 and its design are determined according to the exterior design of the new door 30.
The core material 36 is arranged by being adhered to the indoor side of the exterior surface material 35. The core material 36 is made of a heat insulating material such as a bead method polystyrene foam insulation board.
Resin members 38, which serve as heat insulating material, are attached to the interior facing pieces of the upper ribs 31, lower ribs 32, and vertical ribs 33. Specifically, the resin members 38 include grooves into which the inner peripheral edges of the interior facing pieces of each rib 31-33 are inserted, covering portions that cover the interior surfaces of the interior facing pieces of each rib 31-33, and abutting portions that abut against the interior facing pieces of each rib 31-33. The edges of the interior facing pieces are inserted into the grooves of the resin members 38, and the interior facing pieces are sandwiched between the grooves and the abutting portions, thereby securing the resin members 38 to the interior facing pieces of each rib 31-33. An adhesive may also be used to secure the resin members 38 to the ribs 31-33.
Therefore, when the new door 30 is attached to the exterior side of the existing door 20, the resin member 38 is interposed between the metal upper ribs 31, lower ribs 32, and vertical ribs 33 and the metal exterior surface material 25, preventing direct contact between the ribs 31 to 33 and the exterior surface material 25. This resin member 38 can suppress heat conduction between the new door 30 and the existing door 20, improving the insulating performance of the door 1.
As described above, the new door 30 functions as a decorative cover that improves the design by covering the exterior surface of the existing door 20, and also functions as an insulating member that improves the insulating performance of the door 1 by including an insulating core material 36 and a resin member 38.
As shown in Figure 4, locking holes 335 into which the locking pieces 42 of the locking members 40 are inserted are formed at the top and middle of the interior facing pieces 333 of the vertical frame 33. By inserting and locking the locking pieces 42 of the locking members 40 into these locking holes 335, the top and middle of the vertical frame 33 of the new door 30 are fixed to the existing door 20. For this reason, the vertical dimension of the locking holes 335 is made larger than the vertical dimension of the locking pieces 42 of the locking members 40, and the left-right width of the locking holes 335 is made larger than the width of the locking pieces 42. Furthermore, when the locking pieces 42 are inserted into the locking holes 335 and locked, the upper surfaces of the locking holes 335 rest on the connecting piece portions 421 of the locking pieces 42. For this reason, the vertical position of the locking hole 335 is set to a position where the top surface of the new door 30 is substantially aligned with the top surface of the existing door 20 when the top surface of the locking hole 335 is placed on the connecting piece portion 421. The resin member 38 attached to the vertical frame 33 has an opening in a portion corresponding to the locking hole 335, and is formed so as not to block the locking hole 335. The resin member 38 attached to the vertical frame 33 also has a notch cut out in a portion that overlaps with the fixing piece 41 of the locking member 40, so that when the new door 30 is attached, the resin member 38 and the fixing piece 41 do not interfere with each other and hinder the attachment of the new door 30.
The lower end of the vertical frame 33 is fixed to the vertical frame 23 of the existing door 20 by a screw 45. That is, the screw 45 is threaded into the vertical frame 23 via the exterior surface material 35, the vertical frame 33, and the exterior surface material 25, and the vertical frame 33 of the new door 30 is fixed to the vertical frame 23 of the existing door 20 by this screw 45.
An upper cover member 51 and a vertical cover member 53 are fixed to the exterior surfaces of the upper frame 11 and the vertical frame 13, facing the top and side surfaces of the new door 30.
The upper cover member 51 is composed of a first upper cover material 511 fixed to the upper frame 11 with screws 513 and a second upper cover material 512 fixed to the first upper cover material 511 with screws 514 .
The vertical cover member 53 is composed of a first vertical cover material 531 fixed to the vertical frame 13 with screws 533, and a second vertical cover material 532 fixed to the first vertical cover material 531 with screws 534. As shown in Figure 2, the cross-sectional shapes of the second vertical cover materials 532 differ between the left and right vertical cover members 53, but second vertical cover materials 532 with the same cross-sectional shape may also be used.
[How to repair the door]
Next, a procedure for repairing the existing door 20 of the door 1 will be described.
First, remove the handle and lock from the existing door 20.
Next, as shown in Figures 5 and 6, the locking member 40 is screwed to the exterior surface of the existing door 20.
Next, the locking member 40 is inserted into the locking hole 335 of the vertical frame 33 of the new door 30 to lock it. At this time, as shown in Figure 5, the new door 30 is placed at a higher position than the existing door 20, and the height positions of the locking member 40 and the locking hole 335 are aligned, and the new door 30 is moved toward the existing door 20, and with the locking member 40 inserted into the locking hole 335, the new door 30 is moved downward, and the locking member 40 is locked into the locking hole 335. At this time, since the width dimension of the groove portion 43 of the locking member 40 decreases downward, the new door 30 is pulled toward the existing door 20 as it moves downward.
Thereafter, the lower end of the vertical frame 33 of the new door 30 is fixed to the vertical frame 23 of the existing door 20 with the screw 45. Then, a new handle and lock are attached.
Furthermore, the upper cover member 51 and the vertical cover member 53 are fixed to the upper frame 11 and the vertical frame 13. The upper cover member 51 and the vertical cover member 53 may be fixed in such a manner that the first upper cover member 511 and the first vertical cover member 531 are fixed to the upper frame 11 and the vertical frame 13, and then the second upper cover member 512 and the second vertical cover member 532 are fixed to the first upper cover member 511 and the first vertical cover member 531, or the second upper cover member 512 and the second vertical cover member 532 are fixed to the first upper cover member 511 and the first vertical cover member 531, and then the first upper cover member 511 and the first vertical cover member 531 are fixed to the upper frame 11 and the vertical frame 13.
By the above procedure, the new door 30 is attached to the existing door 20, and the upper cover member 51 and the vertical cover member 53 are attached to the existing frame 10, thereby renovating the door 1.
[Effects of the embodiment]
According to this embodiment, the door 1 is renovated by attaching the new door 30 to the exterior surface of the existing door 20, so there is no need to remove and discard the existing door 20 from the existing frame 10. Therefore, the new door 30 can be attached while the existing door 20 is still attached to the existing frame 10, which reduces the amount of renovation work and shortens the construction time during renovation.
Furthermore, waste can be minimized because there is no need to discard the existing door 20. This contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals such as the effective use of resources, a longer lifespan, and environmental considerations, and also reduces the amount of materials required for renovation, thereby reducing renovation costs.
Furthermore, since the new door 30 is locked to the locking member 40 fixed to the existing door 20, the new door 30 can be easily installed and, if the new door 30 is thermally expanded, the thermal expansion can be prevented from affecting the existing door 20.
Because the resin member 38 is interposed between the new door 30 and the existing door 20, the new door 30 and the existing door 20 are insulated from each other, improving the insulating performance of the renovated door 1. This contributes to energy savings in heating and cooling the building, is environmentally friendly, and contributes to carbon neutrality. Furthermore, because the new door 30 does not have a face material on the interior side, the resin member 38 can be attached by engaging with the interior facing pieces of each rib 31-33. This improves the attachment strength of the resin member 38 compared to, for example, when a flat resin member is fixed to the interior surface of each rib 31-33 with an adhesive.
The new door 30 does not have a surface material on the interior side, so the cost of the new door 30 can be reduced.
The new door 30 has a core material 36 inside that acts as a heat insulator, which can further improve the heat insulating performance of the door 1 after renovation.
The locking member 40 is fixed to the metal vertical frame 23 of the existing door 20 with a flat head screw 44, which is a drill screw, so that the locking member 40 can be easily and firmly fixed to the existing door 20 by screwing in the flat head screw 44 with an electric screwdriver, and the workability of construction can also be improved.
The upper and middle parts of the vertical frame 33 of the newly installed door 30 are locked by the locking member 40, and the lower part is fixed with the screw 45 which is a fastening member, so that the newly installed door 30 can be fixed more firmly to the existing door 20 than when the newly installed door 30 is attached to the existing door 20 only with the locking member 40.
Only the lower part of the new door 30 is fixed with the screws 45, and the rest is simply locked to the locking member 40, so even if the new door 30 expands due to heat, the position of the locking hole 335 is displaced, which can absorb the thermal expansion and prevent thermal warping of the new door 30. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the new door 30 from thermally warping and the thermal warping from being transmitted to the existing door 20 and causing deformation.
The new door 30 can be supported by being locked with the locking member 40, so that the worker does not need to support the new door 30 when screwing in the screws 45, and the work required to fix the screws 45 can be reduced.
The height dimension of the new door 30 is the same as the height dimension of the existing door 20, and the width dimension of the exterior surface of the new door 30 is larger than the width dimension of the existing door 20 by the amount of the side panel material 37, so the new door 30 can cover the entire exterior surface of the existing door 20. As a result, when the door 1 is viewed from outside the room, the existing door 20 is not exposed, improving the design. In addition, because the width dimension of the exterior surface of the new door 30 is larger than the width dimension of the existing door 20, the hinges 16 can be hidden by the new door 30, further improving the exterior design.
The upper cover member 51 and vertical cover member 53 are attached to the upper frame 11 and vertical frame 13 of the existing frame 10. Therefore, even if the new door 30 is positioned on the outside of the existing frame 10, the top and sides of the new door 30 can be hidden by the cover members 51 and 53, improving the design.
[Modification]
The structure for attaching the new door 30 to the existing door 20 is not limited to the structure using the locking member 40 and the screw 45 as in the above embodiment. For example, the new door 30 may be attached to the existing door 20 using only the locking member 40. In this case, the upper cover member 51 may restrict the upward movement of the new door 30 so that the new door 30 does not move upward relative to the existing door 20 and become unlocked by the locking member 40.
Furthermore, the fixing positions and number of the locking members 40 are not limited to those in the above embodiment, and may be any as long as the new door 30 can be attached to the exterior surface of the existing door 20.
The fastening members for fixing the new door 30 to the existing door 20 are not limited to the screws 45, but may also be rivets, etc. For example, a fixing piece may be formed on the lower frame 32 of the new door 30, which is positioned along the exterior appearance piece of the lower frame 22, and this fixing piece and the exterior appearance piece of the lower frame 22 may be fixed with a rivet.
In the above embodiment, the upper cover member 51 and the vertical cover member 53 are attached to the existing frame 10, but these cover members 51, 53 do not have to be provided.
The new door 30 is not limited to one that includes a resin member 38 and a core material 36 that is an insulating material, but it is preferable to include a resin member 38 and a core material 36 in that it can improve the insulating properties of the new door 30, i.e., the door 1, and reduce the energy required for heating and cooling.
