Even in a linear-acting movable sinker, the moving arm and other portions move linearly as a first overall locus, and when the pressure receiving portion is pressed, the acting portion and the like move to a second locus. If the bottom of the sinker groove is made a cam surface with smooth irregularities rather than a flat surface, the movable sinker can be moved by adding a component in another direction to the linear motion. Furthermore, the knitting needle 15 is not limited to a latch needle that opens and closes the hook 15a with a latch 15b, but a compound needle that opens and closes the hook with a slider may also be used.
