Description
The present invention relates to a metal coil end surface protection material that protects the end surfaces of a metal coil.
The wire rod coils produced at steelworks are wound into coils at a hot rolling mill, transported on pallets to a warehouse for temporary storage, and then supplied to consumers by transportation means such as trailers or ships.
When the wire rod coils are placed on a pallet or stacked on a transport means such as a trailer or a ship, they are handled by a crane, but during this handling, the end faces of the wire rod coils may come into contact with each other and be damaged.Furthermore, when transporting a plurality of wire rod coils by a transport means such as a trailer or a ship, the end faces of the wire rod coils may come into contact with each other and be damaged.
Therefore, in the past, in order to protect the end faces of the wire rod coil, after the wire rod is wound into a coil in a hot rolling factory, an end face protection material is attached to the end faces of the wire rod coil.
On the other hand, as a packaging device for protecting a metal coil such as a steel sheet coil, for example, the one shown in Patent Document 1 has been proposed.
The method of packaging metal coils shown in Patent Document 1 involves attaching a protector that protects the corners between the outer edge and end face of a steel sheet coil directly to the surface of the steel sheet coil with adhesive tape, and then packaging the steel sheet coil together with the protector in inner and outer packing papers.
According to the metal coil packaging method disclosed in Patent Document 1, when packaging the metal coil, damage to the metal coil and packaging paper during transportation can be prevented.
Furthermore, as a coil packaging material used for coil packaging, for example, the material shown in Patent Document 2 has been proposed.
The coil packaging material shown in Patent Document 2 comprises a hard plate-like member having a central annular protrusion with an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the coil and a through hole drilled in the axial direction of the protrusion, and a bendable soft plate-like member surrounding the outer edge of the hard plate-like member.
According to the coil packaging material disclosed in Patent Document 2, an annular protrusion of a hard plate member is inserted into the inner diameter of the side surface of the coil to be packaged (the end surface of the coil), and a bendable soft plate member arranged on the outer edge of the hard plate member can cover the coil end including the side surface and edge of the coil, regardless of the outer diameter of the coil.
However, the conventional metal coil packaging method disclosed in Patent Document 1 and the coil packaging material disclosed in Patent Document 2 have the following problems.
That is, in the case of the metal coil packaging method shown in Patent Document 1, only the corners between the outer edge and the end face of the steel sheet coil are protected with a protector, and the entire end face of the coil cannot be protected.
On the other hand, in the case of the coil packaging material disclosed in Patent Document 2, the entire end face (side face) of the coil can be protected by a soft plate-like member. However, it is necessary to manufacture an annular, one-piece soft plate-like member that covers the entire end face of the coil. In Patent Document 2, the soft plate-like member is manufactured from a soft plastic material, but the amount of raw material discarded during the manufacture of the annular, one-piece soft plate-like member is large, which increases the manufacturing cost of the soft plate-like member and poses significant environmental problems.
Therefore, the present invention has been made to solve these conventional problems, and its purpose is to provide a metal coil end protection material that can protect the entire end surface of a metal coil while reducing the amount of raw material waste.
In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, one embodiment of the present invention provides a metal coil end surface protection material that protects the end surface of a cylindrical metal coil, and is characterized by comprising a plurality of segmented pieces formed by dividing an annular member that covers the entire end surface of the metal coil into a plurality of pieces along the circumferential direction, and a plurality of connecting members that connect adjacent segmented pieces together in the circumferential direction.
The metal coil end surface protection material of the present invention provides a metal coil end surface protection material that can protect the entire end surface of a metal coil while reducing the amount of raw material waste.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. The embodiments shown below are examples of devices and methods for embodying the technical concept of the present invention, and the technical concept of the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments in terms of the materials, shapes, structures, arrangements, etc. of the components.
In addition, the drawings are schematic, and therefore it should be noted that the relationship between thickness and planar dimensions, ratios, etc. may differ from the actual relationship, and the drawings may also contain parts where the relationship and ratio of dimensions differ from each other.
(First embodiment)
Fig. 1 shows a state in which a metal coil end surface protection material according to a first embodiment of the present invention is disposed on both end surfaces of a wire rod coil as a metal coil, and Fig. 2 shows a state in which the end surface protection material shown in Fig. 1 is disposed on both end surfaces of the wire rod coil and the wire rod coil are bound together with the end surface protection material using binding hoops.
1 is wound into a coil shape at a hot rolling mill, transported to a warehouse on a pallet for temporary storage, and then supplied to consumers by transportation means such as a trailer or ship. The wire coil 10 is wound into a cylindrical shape and has an end face 11 at one end in the longitudinal direction and an end face 12 at the other end in the longitudinal direction.
Here, when the wire rod coils 10 are placed on a pallet or stacked on transportation means such as a trailer or a ship, they are handled by a crane, but during this handling, the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coils 10 may come into contact with each other, resulting in damage to the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coils 10. Furthermore, when transporting a plurality of wire rod coils 10 by transportation means such as a trailer or a ship, the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coils 10 may come into contact with each other, resulting in damage to the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coils 10.
Therefore, in this embodiment, in order to protect both end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10, after the wire rod is wound into a coil shape in a hot rolling factory, end face protection materials 1 are attached to both end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10.
1 to 3 , the end face protection material 1 includes a plurality of (four in this embodiment) segmented pieces 21, 22 , 23, 24 obtained by dividing an annular member 2 that covers the entire end faces 11, 12 of a rod/wire coil 10 as a metal coil into a plurality of ( four in this embodiment) segmented pieces along the circumferential direction. The end face protection material 1 also includes a plurality of (four in this embodiment) connecting members 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 that connect the segmented pieces 21 , 22 ; 22, 23; 23, 24; 24 , 21 that are adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction.
The material of each of the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 may be any material as long as it is softer as a metal coil than the steel material of the wire rod coil 10 and can protect the wire rod coil 10, but in this embodiment, each of the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 is made of cardboard. The outer diameter of the annular member 2 formed by joining the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 along the circumferential direction is the same as or slightly larger than the outer diameter of the wire rod coil 10, and the inner diameter of the annular member 2 is the same as or slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the wire rod coil 10. Each of the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 is divided into equal sizes along the circumferential direction. The thickness of each of the divided pieces 2 1 , 2 2 , 2 3 , 2 4 is determined appropriately depending on the material, but when each of the divided pieces 2 1 , 2 2 , 2 3 , 2 4 is made of cardboard as in this embodiment, the thickness is about 5 mm.
4, when manufacturing the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , each divided piece 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 is cut out from a rectangular raw material S1 that is slightly larger than each divided piece 21 , 22 , 23 , 24. At this time, discarded portions S11 , S12 contacting the outer periphery of each divided piece 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , discarded portions S13 , S14 contacting both end faces of each divided piece 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , and discarded portion S15 contacting the inner periphery of each divided piece 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 are discarded.
The amount of raw material discarded when manufacturing each of the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , and 24 is the sum of the discarded portions S11 to S15 multiplied by the number of divisions (4). In contrast, when the end face protection material 100 is formed of an annular member 101, as in the case of the end face protection material 100 according to the reference example shown in Figure 5, the amount of raw material discarded is as shown in Figure 6.
That is, when manufacturing the annular member 101, the annular member 101 is cut out from a square raw material S100 that is slightly larger than the annular member 101. At this time, waste portions S101 , S102 , S103 , and S104 that contact the outer periphery of the annular member 101 and waste portion S105 that contacts the inner periphery of the annular member 101 are discarded. The amount of raw material discarded when manufacturing the annular member 101 is the total amount of the waste portions S101 to S105 .
The total amount of waste portions S11 to S15 , which are the amount of raw material discarded when manufacturing each divided piece 21 , 22 , 23 , and 24 , multiplied by the number of divisions (four) is less than the total amount of waste portions S101 to S105 , which are the amount of raw material discarded when manufacturing the annular member 101, and the amount of raw material discarded can be reduced.
A1=d2-π(d/2)2+π(d/2-w)2 …(1)
7(a) and (b), the amount of raw material wasted when cutting out the integral annular member 101 constituting the end face protection material 100 from the raw material S100 will be compared with the amount of raw material wasted when cutting out multiple (n) divided pieces 2 1 to 2 n of the annular member 2 constituting the end face protection material 1 from the raw material.
As shown in Figure 7(a), when an integrated annular member 101 is cut out from a raw material S100 , the amount of raw material discarded (total amount of discarded portions S101 to S105 ) A1 is expressed by the following formula (1), where d is the outer diameter of the annular member 101 and w is the width of the annular member 101, since the annular member 101 is cut out from a square material with a side length of d.
A1=d 2 -π(d/2) 2 +π(d/2-w) 2 ...(1)
A2=[{d・sin(360/n)°×(d/2-(2/d-w)・cos(360/n)°)}-{(π(d/2)2×1/n)-(π(d/2-w)2×1/n)}]×n …(2)
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 7(b), when multiple (n) divided pieces 2 1 to 2 n are cut out from the raw material, the waste amount A2 (the amount obtained by multiplying the sum of the waste portions S 11 to S 15 by n) is expressed by the following equation (2):
A2 = [{d・sin(360/n)°×(d/2−(2/d−w)・cos(360/n)°)}−{(π(d/2) 2 ×1/n)−(π(d/2−w) 2 ×1/n)}]×n…(2)
The purpose of dividing the annular member 2 into multiple pieces is to reduce the amount of unnecessary parts that are discarded. Therefore, the outer diameter d and width w of the annular member 2, as well as the number of divisions n, are set so that the discard amount A1 expressed by equation (1) is greater than the discard amount A2 expressed by equation (2).
Here, the number n of divisions of the annular member is set in the range of 3≦n≦8, taking into consideration the workload involved in bonding the divided pieces 2 1 to 2 n together.
Furthermore, the respective joining members 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 join the circumferentially adjacent segments 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21 , and are made of adhesive tape in this embodiment. By adhering the adhesive tape constituting each joining member 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 to the surfaces near the divided end faces of the circumferentially adjacent segments 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21 , as shown in Figure 3, the circumferentially adjacent segments 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21 can be joined together.
When attaching the end face protection material 1 to each of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10, first, as shown in FIG. 1 , the end face protection material 1 assembled as described above is placed on each of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10, which is formed by winding wire rods into a coil shape in a hot rolling factory.
2, the wire coil 10 is bound together with the end protection materials 1 arranged on both end faces 11, 12 by a plurality of (four in this embodiment) binding hoops 20. Each binding hoop 20 binds the end protection materials 1 arranged on the inner circumferential surface, outer circumferential surface and both end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10 so as to tighten, thereby binding the wire coil 10 together with the end protection materials 1.
This restrains the wire rod coil 10, which tends to expand outward due to elastic force, and prevents the wire rod coil 10 from coming apart. In addition, by restraining the wire rod coil 10 and the end face protection member 1 at the same time, the end face protection member 1 is attached in a state where it is pressed against both end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10.
The circumferential binding position of each binding hoop 20 is the same as the affixing position of each joining member 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 affixed to the surface near the divided end face of the circumferentially adjacent divided pieces 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21. However, the circumferential binding position of each binding hoop 20 is not limited to the same as the affixing position of each joining member 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , and may be any position in the circumferential direction of the wire coil 10.
By attaching the end face protection material 1 to both end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10 in this way, the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10 can be prevented from coming into contact with each other when the wire coil 10 is handled by a crane, thereby avoiding the risk of damage to the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10. Furthermore, when transporting multiple wire coils 10 by transportation means such as a trailer or ship, the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coils 10 can be prevented from coming into contact with each other, thereby avoiding the risk of damage to the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coils 10.
According to the end surface protection material 1 of the first embodiment, the end surface protection material 1 includes a plurality of divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 formed by dividing an annular member 2 that covers the entire end surfaces 11, 12 of a rod/wire coil 10 as a metal coil into a plurality of pieces along the circumferential direction, and a plurality of connecting members 31 , 32 , 33, 34 that connect adjacent divided pieces 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24; 24 , 21 to each other in the circumferential direction.
As a result, the amount of raw material wasted when manufacturing each of the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , and 24 is less than the amount of raw material wasted when manufacturing the annular member 101, and the amount of raw material wasted is reduced, thereby making it possible to protect the entire end faces 11 and 12 of the wire coil 10 as a metal coil.
Second Embodiment
Next, a metal coil end surface protection material according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Fig. 8 and Fig. 9. Fig. 8 is a perspective view showing a state in which the metal coil end surface protection material according to the second embodiment of the present invention is placed on both end surfaces of a wire rod coil as a metal coil, and the wire rod coil is then bound together with the end surface protection material using binding hoops. Fig. 9 is a plan view of the end surface protection material shown in Fig. 8 before being placed on both end surfaces of the wire rod coil.
8 and 9, similar to the metal coil end surface protection material 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention shown in Figures 1 to 3, comprises a plurality of (four in this embodiment) segment pieces 21, 22, 23, 24 obtained by dividing an annular member 2 that covers the entire end surfaces 11, 12 of a rod/wire coil 10 as a metal coil into a plurality of (four in this embodiment) segment pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 along the circumferential direction. The end surface protection material 1 also comprises a plurality of (four in this embodiment) connecting members 31 , 32 , 33, 34 that connect the segment pieces 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24; 24, 21 that are adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction.
Furthermore, each of the joining members 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 joins the circumferentially adjacent segments 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21 together, and in this embodiment, is made of adhesive tape. Examples of adhesive tape include gum tape and cellophane tape. As shown in Figure 9, the adhesive tape constituting each of the joining members 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 is attached to the surfaces near the divided end faces of the circumferentially adjacent segments 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21 , thereby joining the circumferentially adjacent segments 21, 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21 together.
1 to 3, the end face protection material 1 includes ear members 41, 42, 43, and 44 that cover the outer and inner corners of the end faces 11 and 12 of the wire rod coil 10, which come into contact with the binding hoops 20 that bind the wire rod coil 10 as a metal coil. In this embodiment, as shown in Fig. 8 , the wire rod coil 10 is restrained together with the end face protection materials 1 arranged on both end faces 11 and 12 by a plurality of binding hoops 20 (four in this embodiment), and therefore the end face protection material 1 includes a plurality of (four) ear members 41 , 42 , 43 , and 44 .
The material of each of the ear members 41 , 42 , 43 , and 44 may be any material that is softer than the steel material that is the material of the wire rod coil 10 as a metal coil and that can protect the outer and inner corners of the end faces 11 and 12 of the wire rod coil 10, but in this embodiment, each of the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , and 24 is made of cardboard.
In this manner, the wire rod coil 10 is provided with the ear members 41 , 42 , 43, 44 that cover the outer peripheral corners and inner peripheral corners of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10 with which the binding hoop 20 that binds the wire rod coil 10 comes into contact. As a result, the ear members 41, 42 , 43 , 44 prevent the binding hoop 20 from contacting the outer peripheral corners and inner peripheral corners of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10 when binding the wire rod coil 10 with the binding hoop 20. Therefore, damage to the outer peripheral corners and inner peripheral corners of the end faces 11 , 12 of the wire rod coil 10 due to contact with the binding hoop 20 can be avoided.
In particular, when the metal coil is a wire rod coil 10 as in this embodiment, the elastic force of the wire rods tending to expand outward is large, and it is necessary to increase the restraining force of the binding hoops 20. If the restraining force of the wire rod coil 10 by the binding hoops 20 is increased, the pressing force on the outer peripheral corners and inner peripheral corners of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10 that come into contact with the binding hoops 20 when binding the wire rod coil 10 with the binding hoops 20 increases, making the outer peripheral corners and inner peripheral corners more likely to be damaged. Therefore, when the metal coil is a wire rod coil 10, the ear members 4-1 , 4-2 , 4-3 , 4-4 have a great advantage in preventing the binding hoops 20 from coming into contact with the outer peripheral corners and inner peripheral corners of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10.
In this embodiment, the circumferential arrangement positions of the ear members 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 are on the respective connecting members 31 , 32, 33 , 34 attached to the surfaces near the divided end faces of the circumferentially adjacent divided pieces 21, 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24 ; 24 , 21 , as shown in Figures 8 and 9. The circumferential binding positions of the respective binding hoops 20 are the same as the affixing positions of the respective connecting members 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , as will be described later, and the binding hoops 20 come into contact with the outer peripheral corners and inner peripheral corners of the end faces 11 , 12 of the wire rod coil 10 at those circumferential binding positions.
8, the wire coil 10 is bound together with the end protection materials 1 arranged on both end faces 11, 12 by a plurality of (four in this embodiment) binding hoops 20. Each binding hoop 20 binds the end protection materials 1 arranged on the inner circumferential surface, outer circumferential surface and both end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10 so as to fasten them together, thereby binding the wire coil 10 together with the end protection materials 1.
This restrains the wire rod coil 10, which tends to expand outward due to elastic force, and prevents the wire rod coil 10 from coming apart. Furthermore, by restraining the wire rod coil 10 with the binding hoops 20 and at the same time restraining the end face protection material 1, the end face protection material 1 is attached in a state where it is pressed against both end faces 11 , 12 of the wire rod coil 10. At this time, the ear members 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 arranged on the connecting members 31 , 32, 33 , 34 are held in a state where they are pressed against the connecting members 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 and the divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 by the binding hoops 20. The ear members 4 1 , 4 2 , 4 3 , and 4 4 may be attached in advance to the connecting members 3 1 , 3 2 , 3 3 , and 3 4 and the divided pieces 2 1 , 2 2 , 2 3 , and 2 4 with adhesive tape (not shown).
By attaching the end face protection material 1 to both end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10 in this manner, it is possible to prevent the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10 from coming into contact with each other when handling the wire coil 10 with a crane, thereby avoiding the risk of damaging the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10. Furthermore, it is also possible to prevent the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10 from coming into contact with each other when transporting a plurality of wire coils 10 by transportation means such as a trailer or a ship, thereby avoiding the risk of damaging the end faces 11, 12 of the wire coil 10.
According to the end surface protection material 1 for a metal coil of the second embodiment, the end surface protection material 1 includes a plurality of divided pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 formed by dividing an annular member 2 that covers the entire end surfaces 11, 12 of a rod/wire coil 10 as a metal coil into a plurality of pieces along the circumferential direction, and a plurality of connecting members 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 that connect adjacent divided pieces 21 , 22 ; 22 , 23 ; 23 , 24; 24 , 21 to each other in the circumferential direction.
Furthermore, according to the end surface protection material 1 for a metal coil of the second embodiment, the end surface protection material 1 is provided with ear members 41 , 42, 43 , 44 that cover the outer and inner corners of the end surfaces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10 that come into contact with the binding hoop 20 that binds the wire rod coil 10 as a metal coil.
This makes it possible to avoid damage to the outer and inner corners of the end faces 11 and 12 of the wire rod coil 10 due to contact with the bundling hoop 20 .
(Third embodiment)
Next, an end surface protection material for a metal coil according to a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Fig. 10. Fig. 10 is a plan view of an end surface protection material according to the third embodiment of the present invention before it is placed on both end surfaces of a rod/wire coil.
The metal coil end surface protection material 1 according to the third embodiment of the present invention shown in Figure 10 has the same basic configuration as the metal coil end surface protection material 1 shown in Figures 8 and 9, but differs from the metal coil end surface protection material 1 shown in Figures 8 and 9 in that each of the multiple segment pieces 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 has a pair of slits 51 , 51 , 52 , 52 , 53 , 53 , 54 , 54 formed at a predetermined interval W from each other and extending radially outward from the inner peripheral edge of each segment piece 21, 22 , 23, 24. Bendable pieces 511 , 521 , 531 , 541 are formed between the pairs of slits 51, 51 , 52 , 52 , 53 , 53 , 54, 54. The predetermined interval W between the pairs of notches 5 1 , 5 1 , 5 2 , 5 2 , 5 3 , 5 3 , 5 4 , 5 4 is slightly larger than the width of the hook F described below.
The width W1 (see FIG. 12) of the end face protection material 1 formed by the annular member 2 is wider than the width W10 of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10 to reliably protect these end faces 11, 12 (only the end face 11 is shown in FIG. 12). However, the outer diameter of the end face protection material 1 formed by the annular member 2 is equal to the outer diameter of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10. The height (length) H of each of the slits 51 to 54 is approximately equal to the difference between the width W1 of the end face protection material 1 and the width W10 of the end faces 11, 12 of the wire rod coil 10.
FIG. 11 shows how, when the wire rod coil 10 is placed on a C-shaped hook F and transported, and an end face protection member 102 made of an integrated annular member 103 formed wider than the width W10 of the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 is attached to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 to bind it, the hook F interferes with the end face protection member 102, causing the end face protection member 102 to shift upward relative to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10.
11 , when the wire rod coil 10 is transported on a C-shaped hook F and an end face protection material 102 made of an integrated annular member 103 formed wider than the width W10 of the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 is attached to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 to bind it, the hook F interferes with the end face protection material 102. This is because, although the outer diameter of the end face protection material 102 made of the annular member 103 is equal to the outer diameter of the wire rod coil 10, the width W102 of the end face protection material 102 is formed wider than the width W10 of the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10, and the hook F enters the inner peripheral side of the wire rod coil 10. As a result, the end face protection material 102 is shifted upward relative to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10, exposing part of the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 and failing to protect the entire end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10.
In the case of the coil packaging materials shown in Patent Documents 1 and 2, as in the case shown in FIG. 11 , when the coil is placed on a C-shaped hook for transport, and then the packaging material is attached and bound, the hook interferes with the packaging material, causing a misalignment between the coil end face to be protected and the packaging material, which runs the risk of exposing part of the coil end face after binding.
In contrast to this, FIG. 12 shows how, when the wire rod coil 10 is placed on a C-shaped hook F and transported, and the end face protection member 1 shown in FIG. 10 is attached to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 for binding, the hook F comes into contact with the bendable piece 511 formed between the slits 5-1 , 5-1 of the end face protection member 1, causing the bendable piece 511 to bend, and the end face protection member 1 protects the entire end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 without shifting upward relative to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10.
As shown in Fig. 12 , when the wire rod coil 10 is placed on a C-shaped hook F and transported, and the end face protection member 1 shown in Fig. 10 is attached to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 for binding, the hook F enters the inner circumferential side of the wire rod coil 10. Then, as shown in Figs. 12 and 13 , the hook F comes into contact with the bendable piece 511 formed between the slits 5-1 , 5-1 of the end face protection member 1, and the bendable piece 511 bends inward in the extending direction of the wire rod coil 10. As a result, even if the width W1 of the end face protection member 1 is wider than the width W10 of the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10, the end face protection member 1 does not shift upward relative to the end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10, and the entire end face 11 of the wire rod coil 10 is protected.
12 and 13 show how the hook F comes into contact with the bendable piece 511 formed between the slits 51 , 51 of the end face protection material 1, causing the bendable piece 511 to bend inwardly in the extending direction of the wire rod coil 10. However, when the hook F enters the inner circumferential side of the wire rod coil 10, the hook F also comes into contact with the bendable pieces 521 , 531 , 541 formed between the slits 52 , 52 , 53 , 53 , 54 , 54 of the end face protection material 1, causing the bendable pieces 521 , 531 , 541 to bend in the same manner.
Thus, according to the end surface protection material 1 for a metal coil of the third embodiment shown in Figure 10, by using the end surface protection material 1 having a pair of notches 51 , 51 to 54 , 54 formed therein while the rod/wire coil 10 is placed on the hook F, it is possible to cover the entire end surfaces 11, 12 of the rod/wire coil 10 with the end surface protection material 1 after binding with the binding hoop 20 (see Figure 9).
