Description

The present invention relates to a composite canvas fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet for use in connecting bellows for railway vehicles, and to a connecting bellows for railway vehicles assembled using this composite canvas fabric.

The creaking noises that sometimes occur when trains are running, and the sounds of trains running through tunnels or underpasses, can sometimes be heard from inside the passenger compartment through the connecting gangway. These noises are nothing but noise pollution for passengers.
Furthermore, the intense heat of summer and the cold of winter can enter the passenger compartment through the connecting bellows, hindering the maintenance of a comfortable temperature inside the train. These problems can be resolved by closing the doors leading to the connecting bellows.
However, this door is sometimes left open, and some vehicles do not have this door at all.
The above-mentioned problems can be largely resolved by improving the connecting bellows, and there is a published patent application for this (Patent Document 1).

The railway vehicle coupling hood according to Patent Document 1 uses a composite hood with a two-layer structure in which an outer hood and an inner hood are layered together. Thick outer hood ribs are installed inside the front and rear ends of the composite hood, and inner hood ribs are installed inside at predetermined intervals in the front-to-back direction of the composite hood. Nonwoven fabric sheets are installed in the areas between each inner hood rib, and these nonwoven fabric sheets are intended to solve the aforementioned problems.

However, as shown in Figure 2 of the same patent document, this nonwoven fabric sheet is arranged in a tightly packed state without gaps in the space between the outer and inner canvas layers between each inner frame of the composite canvas. Therefore, when the canvas body is folded in an accordion shape, a tensile force is applied to the inner canvas layer. This tensile force acts strongly on the inner canvas layer because the outer and inner canvas layers and the nonwoven fabric sheet are folded together as a single unit.
This tensile force is likely to occur not only when the canvas top is folded down, but also when the vehicle is traveling on a sharp curve.
When this tensile force is repeated over many years, fatigue can easily occur in the canvas, especially at the points where the inner and outer canvas layers are joined in a straight line, which can lead to cracks or damage to the canvas.

The present invention aims to solve the above-mentioned problems by arranging a sound-insulating nonwoven fabric sheet inside the composite canvas with a gap in front of both ends of the shorter side, and by allowing the left and right surfaces of the nonwoven fabric sheet in the shorter direction to slightly slide against the surface of the outer canvas and the surface of the inner canvas in the direction of the gap, and by allowing the gap to deform.

A composite canvas fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet according to an embodiment corresponding to claim 1 is:
The composite bellows fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet used for connecting bellows for railway vehicles has a two-layer structure consisting of an outer bellows fabric and an inner bellows fabric, and is assembled with a cover fabric and a nonwoven fabric sheet to form a roughly flat sheet, and has a general structure that allows it to be assembled into a rectangular tubular shape.
The flat composite canvas fabric with nonwoven fabric sheet attached, before assembly, is provided with outer canopy frame insertion sections at the front and rear ends for inserting large diameter outer canopy frames, and further, small diameter inner canopy frame insertion sections are provided at predetermined intervals in the front-to-back direction within the two-layer structure, and nonwoven fabric sheet storage sections are provided between adjacent inner canopy frame insertion sections.
Each of the nonwoven fabric sheets having a narrow, elongated shape is housed within the nonwoven fabric sheet housing section with a gap provided in front of the leading edge of the shorter side.
When the composite canvas with the nonwoven fabric sheet is folded in a shortening direction, the nonwoven fabric sheet is able to move in the direction of the gap with some compression, and the surface of the composite canvas with the nonwoven fabric sheet on which the nonwoven fabric sheet is located is configured to bend with a U-shaped or substantially inverted Ω-shaped curved surface.

The composite canvas fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet according to the embodiment of claim 2 further includes the following configuration.
Both the inner and outer canvas fabrics are made of tarpaulin with a thickness of approximately 0.8 mm, in which both sides of a synthetic fiber woven fabric are covered with a soft polyvinyl chloride resin layer.
Each of the aforementioned canopy frame insertion sections and nonwoven fabric sheet storage sections are separated by a joint where the inner canopy fabric and the outer canopy fabric are joined in parallel in a narrow, straight direction.

A composite canvas fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet according to the embodiment corresponding to claim 3 has the following additional configuration in any of the above configurations.
The aforementioned nonwoven fabric sheet is made of flame-retardant polyester fiber yarn, laminated to a thickness of approximately 3 mm with a weight of approximately 500 g per square meter, and is in the form of a strip with a short width and a long length.

In the composite canvas fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet according to the embodiment of claim 4, in any of the above configurations, the nonwoven fabric sheet is fixed at a point that divides the short width direction in two by a hook provided on the upper part of the composite canvas fabric for attaching a cover, and by a grommet (eyelet fitting) for drainage and waste discharge attached to the bottom surface when used as a connecting bellows for the railway vehicle.

The embodiment corresponding to claim 5 has a configuration that is close to the completed configuration of a connecting bellows for railway vehicles. In this configuration, the outer bellows frame is inserted into both ends of the composite bellows fabric with a nonwoven sheet as described in any of claims 1 to 5, and the inner bellows frame is inserted at predetermined intervals in the front-rear direction of the composite bellows fabric with a nonwoven sheet, and assembled by being deformed into a rectangular shape using a dedicated large bending machine.

According to the composite canvas fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet of the present invention, when the nonwoven fabric sheet is folded in a direction that shortens it in the length direction, the nonwoven fabric sheet moves in the left-right direction where the gap exists with some compression. Therefore, the nonwoven fabric sheet does not become tightly packed within the nonwoven fabric sheet housing, reducing the tensile force applied to the inner fabric. Whether or not the nonwoven fabric sheet is compressible is greatly influenced by the density of the nonwoven fabric sheet. The nonwoven fabric sheet has a density that maintains high sound insulation and sound-dampening effects, high heat insulation effects, etc.
Reducing the tensile force applied to the nonwoven fabric sheet improves the durability of the inner fabric, and consequently the durability of the composite canvas with the nonwoven fabric sheet, significantly reducing the occurrence of damage and tearing.
The composite canvas fabric with a nonwoven fabric sheet according to the present invention does not fold the surface with the nonwoven fabric sheet into a sharp V-shape like conventional connected canvas fabrics, but rather folds into a U-shape or a roughly Omega-shape with a large arc inward. Therefore, damage and tearing of the canvas fabric that occurred due to the sharp folding in conventional methods are greatly reduced.

Preferred embodiments of the composite canvas fabric with nonwoven sheet and the connecting canvas for railway vehicles according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the following drawings.

Figures 1(b), 2(b), and 3 clearly show the combination of each fabric and the assembly structure used in the composite canvas fabric 1 with nonwoven sheet.

-Complex hood 2-
As shown in Figures 1(a)(b) to 3, the composite canvas fabric 2 has a two-layer structure in which an outer canvas fabric 2A and an inner canvas fabric 2B are superimposed.
At both ends of the composite canvas fabric 2, outer canvas insertion frame sections 2a, 2a are provided by folding and joining.
In the interior of the composite canvas fabric 2, sections 2b, 2b, ... are provided at predetermined intervals in the front-to-back direction, where internal frame insertion sections 2b, 2b, ... are located.

The composite canvas fabric 1 with a nonwoven fabric sheet has a double-layered structure, and nonwoven fabric sheet storage sections 2c, 2c... are provided on the inside between the outer frame insertion section 2a and the inner frame insertion section 2b, and on the inside between adjacent inner frame insertion sections 2b, 2b.

In the composite canvas fabric 2 with a nonwoven fabric sheet, nonwoven fabric sheet storage sections 2c, 2c... are provided on the inside between adjacent canvas frame insertion sections 2b, 2b on the inside where the outer canvas fabric 2A and the inner canvas fabric 2B are overlapped.
The nonwoven fabric sheets 4, 4, ... are then housed within the nonwoven fabric sheet housing sections 2c, 2c, ...

—Non-woven fabric sheet 4—
The nonwoven fabric sheet 4 is made of a material that has sound-insulating and heat-insulating properties. Specifically, for example, it is made of flame-retardant polyester fiber with a weight of approximately 500 g per square meter and a thickness of approximately 3 mm, and is cut into a long, narrow shape.
The nonwoven fabric sheets 4, 4... are arranged in parallel with a predetermined interval in the front-to-back direction (which is the lateral direction in Figure 3), as shown in Figure 3. The predetermined interval here is the interval between the internal bone insertion sections 2b, 2b.

As shown in Figures 1(a), 2(a), and 4(a), the nonwoven fabric sheet 4 is fixed at the center, which divides the short width direction in two, by a hook 5 that attaches the cover fabric 3 to the canvas.
Furthermore, as shown in Figures 1(a), 2(a), and 4(b), the nonwoven fabric sheet 4 is fixed in the middle, which divides the short width direction in two, by eyelets (grommets) 6 that are attached to the bottom of the canopy during canopy formation.
The nonwoven fabric sheets 4, 4... are housed within the nonwoven fabric sheet housing sections 2c, 2c... so that no lateral displacement occurs due to the aforementioned fixing methods.

-Railway vehicle coupling bellows 10-
Figures 6 to 9 show a railway vehicle connecting bellows 10 using a composite bellows fabric 2 with a nonwoven fabric sheet.
The railway vehicle coupling bellows 10 has a cover fabric attached to the wide central surface of the outer bellows fabric 2A by fastening with hooks.
The railway vehicle connecting bellows 10 have outer bellows frames 7, 7 inserted at the front and rear ends, and inner bellows frames 8, 8... inserted at predetermined intervals in the front-to-back length direction. After this, they are folded into the rectangular shape shown in Figure 6 using a dedicated large bending machine.
The railway vehicle connecting bellows 10 can be folded from the extended state shown in Figures 7 and 10(a) to the shortened shape shown in Figures 9 and 10(b).

Referring to Figures 1(a) and 1(b), as shown in Figure 10(a), a nonwoven fabric sheet storage section 2c is provided between the two layers of outer fabric 2A and inner fabric 2B. The nonwoven fabric sheet 4 is stored in the nonwoven fabric sheet storage section 2c in a state where displacement in the short-width direction is prevented. This prevention of displacement is achieved by fastening with the aforementioned hook 5 and by fastening with eyelets (eyelet fittings 6).

The nonwoven fabric sheet 4 is housed in the nonwoven fabric sheet housing section 2c with gaps 2d, 2d on both sides. The nonwoven fabric sheet 4 has two sides, one on the left and one on the right, which divide the short width direction in half, and these sides are slightly movable relative to the outer fabric 2A and the inner fabric 2B in the direction where the gaps 2d, 2d are located.
This movement occurs when the railway vehicle connecting bellows 10 is folded in the shortening direction, as shown in Figures 9 and 10(b), and the inner bellows fabric 2B is pulled, slightly compressing the nonwoven fabric sheet 4, and bending into a U-shape.

More specifically, the nonwoven fabric sheet 4 bends from the shape shown in Figure 11(a) to the shape shown in Figure 11(b). This bending compresses the nonwoven fabric sheet 4 slightly, pushing it in the direction of the gaps 2d, 2d. As a result, the tensile force applied to the inner canvas fabric 4B is reduced, and the portion of the canvas fabric where the nonwoven fabric sheet 4 is located bends into a U-shaped curved surface. In other words, the bending is achieved without applying excessive tension to the inner canvas fabric 4B.
Furthermore, when this bending occurs, a portion of the outer fabric 2A lifts up. This lifting is possible because the nonwoven sheet 4 and the outer fabric 2A are in a movable state and are not joined to each other. The nonwoven sheet 4 and the inner fabric 2B are similarly in a movable state. When the nonwoven sheet 4 is strongly pulled by the inner fabric 2B, the nonwoven sheet 4 is elastically pushed out (extended) in the direction where the gaps 2d, 2d are located. As a result, the risk of the inner fabric 2B being damaged or torn is greatly reduced.
