This invention relates to absorbent articles.

Absorbent articles that absorb liquids such as urine and bodily fluids are known (for example, Patent Document 1).

Absorbent articles consist of a sheet forming the outer surface and a sheet material laminated to the wearer's side of the sheet, which are bonded together. In absorbent articles, if adhesive is applied to the entire surface of these sheets in the crotch area, the feel against the wearer's skin becomes poor, reducing comfort in that area. However, no specific bonding method for the sheets that takes comfort into consideration has been proposed.

The present invention aims to provide an absorbent article that can suppress a decrease in wearing comfort in the crotch area.

To solve the above problems, the present invention provides multiple linear adhesive sections for bonding the outer cover sheet and the inner cover sheet.

In detail, the absorbent article according to the present invention has a length along its longitudinal direction and a length along its width direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, and comprises a front body region located on the abdominal side of the wearer when worn, a crotch region located in the crotch area and provided with an absorbent material, and a back body region located on the back side, arranged in this order along the longitudinal direction. The absorbent article includes an outer cover sheet forming an outer surface, and an inner cover sheet laminated on the skin side of the outer cover sheet; and a plurality of linear adhesive portions at the widthwise end of the crotch region, which bond the outer cover sheet and the inner cover sheet, and are intermittently provided along the longitudinal direction.

The absorbent article described above may be positioned on the widthwise end side of the outer sheet, on the front and back body area sides of the linear adhesive portion, and may have a full-surface adhesive portion to which the outer cover sheet and the inner cover sheet are bonded.

In the above-described absorbent article, the full-surface adhesive portion may be located at the end in the width direction.

The absorbent article described above includes a lower limb opening through which the wearer's lower limbs are inserted. The lower limb opening edge forming the lower limb opening is formed including the outer sheet, and the full adhesive portion may be formed along the lower limb opening edge up to the lower limb opening edge.

In the absorbent article described above, the lower limb opening edge is composed of a curve having multiple inflection points, and the full-surface adhesive portion may be provided including the inflection points in the front body region and the crotch region side of the back body region.

In the absorbent article described above, the outer sheet forms a waist opening through which the wearer's waist circumference is inserted, and a pair of lower limb openings through which the wearer's lower limbs are inserted. The absorbent article comprises an expandable member provided on the outer sheet in an extended state, extending along one of the lower limb openings on the front body region side, crossing the crotch region side in the width direction, and extending along the other lower limb opening; and a non-adhesive region in the overlapping region of the crotch area where the expandable member and the absorbent body overlap, where the absorbent body and the outer sheet are not adhered. When viewed in the thickness direction, the linear adhesive portion may be located on the crotch side of the non-adhesive region.

In the above-described absorbent article, the non-adhesive area may be located in the adjacent front portion of the crotch area.

According to the present invention, it is possible to suppress the decrease in wearing comfort in the crotch area.

<Embodiment 1>
A diaper according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. Note that the configurations of the following embodiments are illustrative, and the present invention is not limited to these embodiments.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an adult disposable pant-type diaper (hereinafter simply referred to as "diaper") according to an embodiment. In the diaper, the direction connecting the front panel, which is positioned opposite the wearer's abdomen, and the back panel, which is positioned opposite the wearer's back, is defined as the longitudinal direction. Between these front panel (one side in the longitudinal direction) and back panel (the other side in the longitudinal direction) (in the center in the longitudinal direction) lies the inseam section, which is positioned between the wearer's legs (opposite the crotch). Furthermore, when the diaper is worn by the wearer, the side facing the wearer's skin is defined as the skin side, and the side opposite the skin side is defined as the non-skin side. In addition, the direction connecting the skin side and the non-skin side is defined as the thickness direction, and the direction perpendicular to both the longitudinal direction and the thickness direction is defined as the width direction. Moreover, viewing from the thickness direction is defined as a plan view. The diaper 1 has a length along the longitudinal direction and a width along the width direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, and is worn between the wearer's legs. Furthermore, the terms related to direction used in this application shall mean the directions that correspond to the front, back, left, and right of the wearer when diaper 1 is worn by the wearer. For example, when referring to the left and right direction in this application, it means the directions that correspond to the left and right of the wearer when diaper 1 is worn by the wearer.

In this embodiment, as an example of an absorbent article, a pant-type disposable diaper with a tubular structure having an opening for the wearer's waist circumference and a pair of left and right openings through which the wearer's left and right lower limbs are inserted is given as an example. However, the term "absorbent article" as used in this application is not limited to adult pant-type disposable diapers. The term "absorbent article" as used in this application includes children's pant-type disposable diapers. Furthermore, it includes various forms of absorbent articles that can enclose the waist circumference and crotch, such as tape-type disposable diapers that form a tubular structure by attaching a tape, fixed near one end of a sheet-like member that covers the wearer's crotch (genitals) from the front to the back, to the other end of the sheet-like member.

Diaper 1 has a crotch region 1B, which is the part corresponding to the crotch area that covers the wearer's genitals (crotch) when worn; a front body region 1F, which is the part corresponding to the front of the wearer's waist and covers the wearer's abdominal side; and a back body region 1R, which is the part corresponding to the back of the wearer's waist and covers the wearer's back side. Here, the front body region 1F is located in front of the crotch region 1B, and the back body region 1R is located behind the crotch region 1B. In this embodiment, diaper 1 is a pant-type disposable diaper and is equipped with side seal portions SL and SR that join the widthwise ends of the front body region 1F and the back body region 1R of the outer sheet so as to form a waist portion 2D having a waist opening 2T. The left edge of the front body region 1F and the left edge of the back body region 1R are joined to each other by the side seal portion SL, and the right edge of the front body region 1F and the right edge of the back body region 1R are joined to each other by the side seal portion SR. Therefore, the diaper 1 has a torso opening 2T (an example of a "torso opening" in this disclosure) formed by the upper edge of the front body region 1F and the upper edge of the back body region 1R. Furthermore, the diaper 1 has a left lower limb opening 2L formed on the left side of the crotch region 1B where the above-mentioned joint is not applied, and a right lower limb opening 2R formed on the right side of the crotch region 1B. When the diaper 1 is worn, with the wearer's left lower limb inserted through the left lower limb opening 2L, the wearer's right lower limb inserted through the right lower limb opening 2R, and the wearer's torso inserted through the torso opening 2T, the front body region 1F is positioned on the wearer's abdominal side, the back body region 1R is positioned on the wearer's back side, and the left lower limb opening 2L and the right lower limb opening 2R surround the wearer's thighs, thus fixing the diaper 1 to the wearer's body. Because the diaper 1 is fixed to the wearer's body in this manner, the wearer can move freely while wearing the diaper 1.

Diaper 1 has an absorbent material that can absorb and retain liquid, mainly located around the crotch area 1B. In addition, to prevent the formation of gaps between diaper 1 and the wearer's skin that could become pathways for liquid leakage, diaper 1 is provided with a three-dimensional gather 3BL at the left lower limb opening 2L surrounding the thigh of the wearer's left lower limb, a three-dimensional gather 3BR at the right lower limb opening 2R surrounding the thigh of the wearer's right lower limb, and a waist gather 3R at the torso area 2D surrounding the wearer's waist. In addition, leg gathers 3LL and 3LR are provided around the base of the wearer's legs. The three-dimensional gathers 3BL and 3BR and the waist gather 3R adhere closely to the wearer's skin due to the elastic force of the elastic thread. The leg gathers 3LL and 3LR also prevent gaps from forming between the base of the wearer's legs and diaper 1. Therefore, the waste discharged from the wearer's genitals is absorbed by the absorbent material of diaper 1 with virtually no leakage.

Diaper 1 can be used in combination with an inner pad (not shown). The inner pad is a roughly rectangular absorbent article equipped with an absorbent material that absorbs wastewater. When using diaper 1 and the inner pad together, the inner pad is placed on the skin-facing side of diaper 1, in contact with the wearer's urinary tract. Wastewater is first absorbed by the inner pad, and only the wastewater that could not be absorbed by the inner pad reaches the absorbent material of diaper 1 and is further absorbed. Therefore, even in cases of large amounts of wastewater, leakage from diaper 1 can be prevented. Furthermore, if the amount of wastewater is small and can be fully absorbed by the inner pad, only the inner pad needs to be replaced when wastewater occurs, thus reducing care costs. Additionally, diaper 1 can be used for extended periods.

Figure 2 is an exploded perspective view of a diaper 1 according to Embodiment 1. The diaper 1 has a cover sheet 4 (an example of an "outer cover sheet" as referred to in this application) and an inner cover sheet 5.
The cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 are roughly hourglass-shaped (gourd-shaped) sheets that are bonded together to form the outer surface of the diaper 1, and are identical in shape except for the ends on the front body region 1F side and the back body region 1R side. When worn by a person, the cover sheet 4 is laminated on the side that does not touch the wearer's skin, and the inner cover sheet 5 is laminated on the side that touches the wearer's skin. Between the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5, elastic threads are provided to form the waist gather 3R and the leg gathers 3LL and 3LR. In addition to the elastic threads, an elastic band or other stretchable material can be appropriately selected.

The cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 can be made of a nonwoven fabric made of a liquid-impermeable thermoplastic resin, for example, to suppress leakage of discharged materials. Examples of liquid-impermeable thermoplastic resins include polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP).

The diaper 1 has a back sheet 6, an absorbent body 8, and a top sheet 9, which are sequentially laminated on the wearer-side surfaces of the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5. The back sheet 6 is a substantially rectangular sheet with a length in the longitudinal direction that extends from the wearer's front body through the crotch to the back body, and a predetermined width in the width direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The absorbent body 8 and the top sheet 9 are both sheet-like members that have a substantially rectangular appearance similar to the back sheet 6, and are sequentially laminated on the back sheet 6 with their longitudinal directions coinciding with the longitudinal direction of the back sheet 6. The back sheet 6 is a sheet made of a liquid-impermeable thermoplastic resin to suppress leakage of waste. The top sheet 9 is a sheet-like member that is positioned on the wearer's skin side so as to cover the absorbent surface of the absorbent body 8. This top sheet 9 is liquid-permeable in part or all of its structure. Therefore, when diaper 1 is worn, liquids discharged from the wearer penetrate the absorbent material 8 through the top sheet 9, which may come into contact with the wearer's skin, and are absorbed there. Examples of liquid-permeable sheets include woven fabrics, nonwoven fabrics, and porous films. Furthermore, the top sheet 9 may be hydrophilic.

The absorbent body 8 comprises an absorbent core 8c made of one mat and a core wrap sheet 7 (an example of the "water-permeable sheet" in this disclosure) that encloses the absorbent core 8c. The absorbent core 8c is roughly hourglass-shaped with a constricted portion. The absorbent core 8c has a structure in which granular absorbent resin (super absorbent polymer), such as SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer), a hydrophilic polymer with a cross-linked structure capable of absorbing and retaining water, is held in the gaps between short fibers of cellulosic fibers such as pulp fibers, rayon fibers, or cotton fibers, or short fibers of synthetic fibers such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or polyethylene terephthalate that have been treated to be hydrophilic. When the absorbent core 8c absorbs liquid discharged from the wearer, it swells the absorbent resin held in the gaps between the short fibers, thereby retaining the liquid within the short fibers. In this embodiment, the absorbent core 8c is roughly hourglass-shaped with a constriction near the center. The absorbent core 8c can take on an appropriate shape depending on the purpose. The shape of the absorption core 8c can include, for example, a rectangular shape, an elliptical shape, or various other shapes.

The core wrap sheet 7 is a thin, liquid-permeable sheet. By wrapping the absorbent core 8c with the core wrap sheet 7, the SAP of the absorbent core 8c is less likely to mix with other structures. Furthermore, deformation of the absorbent core 8c is suppressed. The core wrap sheet 7 can be made of pulp fibers, and tissue paper can be used as an example. The core wrap sheet 7 may be a single sheet, or it may consist of two sheets: an upper sheet placed on the skin side of the wearer, and a lower sheet placed on the non-skin side of the wearer, which wraps around the sides of the absorbent core and the skin side. If the core wrap sheet 7 consists of two sheets, the widthwise end of the upper sheet may be wrapped around the other sheets (for example, the side sheets 10L, 10R, back sheet 6, and top sheet 9 described later). Note that the absorbent body 8 is wrapped around the back sheet 6 and top sheet 9, and deformation can also be suppressed by these sheets, so the core wrap sheet 7 may not be provided.

The back sheet 6, absorbent layer 8, and top sheet 9 all extend from the front body region 1F to the back body region 1R. Therefore, when the back sheet 6, absorbent layer 8, and top sheet 9 are layered to cover the wearer's genital area (crotch), the longitudinal ends of the back sheet 6, absorbent layer 8, and top sheet 9 are positioned on the wearer's ventral and dorsal sides. In other words, the wearer's genital area is covered by the absorbent layer 8 from the ventral to the dorsal side. Therefore, regardless of whether the wearer is lying face down or back down when expelling fluid, the expelled fluid will come into contact with the absorbent layer 8 via the top sheet 9.

Furthermore, the diaper 1 has elongated, strip-shaped side sheets 10L and 10R for forming the three-dimensional gathers 3BL and 3BR described above. The side sheets 10L and 10R are provided on the long sides of the top sheet 9. Elastic threads 10L1 and 10R1 are adhered to the side sheets 10L and 10R along their longitudinal direction. Therefore, when the left edge 4F4 of the front body region 1F and the left edge 4R4 of the back body region 1R of the cover sheet 4 are joined to each other, and when the right edge 4F5 of the front body region 1F and the right edge 4R5 of the back body region 1R of the cover sheet 4 are joined to each other, the diaper 1 is completed as shown in Figure 1. The side sheets 10L and 10R are then pulled longitudinally by the contractile force of the elastic threads 10L1 and 10R1, rising from the top sheet 9 along the fold lines 10L2 and 10R2 (an example of a "standing line"). As a result, three-dimensional gathers 3BL and 3BR are formed to prevent liquid leakage from the left and right lower limb openings 2L and 2R (details will be described later). The method of joining the edges 4F4 and 4R4, and edges 4F5 and 4R5 is not particularly limited, but can be done by heat sealing, high-frequency sealing, ultrasonic sealing, etc.

Furthermore, the diaper 1 has an end sheet 11F that is laminated on the wearer-facing side of the front body region 1F of the cover sheet 4, and an end sheet 11R that is laminated on the wearer-facing side of the back body region 1R of the cover sheet 4, sandwiching the back sheet 6, absorbent material 8, top sheet 9, and side sheets 10L and 10R. The end sheets 11F and 11R are strip-shaped sheets that are layered on the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 at one end in the longitudinal direction of the top sheet 9. The end sheets 11F and 11R are made of non-permeable nonwoven fabric and mainly reinforce the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 in the waist contact area of the diaper 1. In addition, adhesive is applied to the end sheets 11F and 11R, and they are bonded to the inner cover sheet 5 by this adhesive. The end sheets 11F and 11R are positioned on the skin-facing side of the laminate formed by the back sheet 6, absorbent 8, top sheet 9, and side sheets 10L and 10R, preventing the edges of the laminate from directly touching the skin and causing discomfort to the wearer.

Figure 3 is a schematic diagram showing the diaper 1 according to Embodiment 1 in an unfolded and extended state. Figure 3(A) schematically shows the internal structure of the unfolded and extended diaper 1 when viewed from the left side. Figure 3(B) is a plan view of the unfolded and extended diaper 1. Note that in Figure 3(B), the illustration of the side sheets 10L, 10R and the end sheets 11F, 11R is omitted. The cover sheet 4 has one end folded back at the fold lines 4FF, 4RF shown in Figure 2. The waist gather 3R described above is formed by adhering thread elastic (thread-like elastic) 4F1, 4F2 to the front body region of the cover sheet 4 and adhering thread elastic (thread-like elastic) 4R1, 4R2 to the back body region of the cover sheet 4. The elastic threads 4F1 and 4F2 are provided along the fold line 4FF, which forms the upper edge of the front bodice region 1F when folded, in the order of elastic thread 4F1 and elastic thread 4F2 from the fold line 4FF side. Similarly, the elastic threads 4R1 and 4R2 are provided along the fold line 4RF, which forms the upper edge of the back bodice region 1R when folded, in the order of elastic thread 4R1 and elastic thread 4R2 from the fold line 4RF side.

Therefore, the elastic threads 4F1 and 4F2 are provided on the cover sheet 4 with their longitudinal direction, which is the direction of stretching, oriented in the left-right direction of the diaper 1. Similarly, the elastic threads 4R1 and 4R2 are provided on the cover sheet 4 with their longitudinal direction, which is the direction of stretching, oriented in the left-right direction of the diaper 1. Thus, when the edges 4F4 and 4R4 are joined to each other, and the edges 4F5 and 4R5 are joined to each other, the elastic threads 4F1, 4F2 and 4R1, 4R2 form a substantially annular stretchable member that circumfers along the waist opening 2T, exhibiting the function of contracting the waist opening 2T in the waist direction. In other words, the elastic threads 4F1, 4F2 and 4R1, 4R2 exert contractile force to make the diaper 1 adhere closely to the wearer, preventing the formation of a gap between the diaper 1 and the wearer's waist circumference. A portion of the multiple elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 on the crotch area 1B side overlaps with the absorbent material 8.

The elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are provided to extend horizontally along the upper edges of the front and back body regions 1F and 1R, respectively, as shown in Figure 1. The elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are provided parallel to each other at a predetermined interval. When the diaper 1 is worn, the elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 tighten relatively strongly around the wearer's waist above the elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2. The elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 function to ensure the diaper 1 fits snugly to the wearer, preventing shifting and preventing leakage of waste from the abdomen and back. The elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 alleviate the pressure on the wearer caused by the contractile force of the elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1. Furthermore, when an inner pad is used, they suppress the shifting of the inner pad.

Furthermore, elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 are bonded to the cover sheet 4. Elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 are stretchable members provided in the area of the cover sheet 4 that is closer to the crotch area 1B than elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2. Elastic thread 4F3 is provided so as to cross in the left-right direction on the front body area 1F side. In the area where elastic thread 4F3 is provided so as to cross in the left-right direction, elastic thread 4F3 and the absorbent material 8 overlap in the thickness direction of the diaper 1. Also, the center of this crossing area in the width direction corresponds to the urethral opening of a female wearer when the diaper 1 is worn. Note that in the area where the absorbent material 8 overlaps when viewed in the thickness direction, the arrangement of elastic thread 4F3 is not limited to crossing as shown in Figure 3. The extending direction of elastic thread 4F3 only needs to have a widthwise component, and preferably the widthwise component of the extending direction of elastic thread 4F3 should be larger than the longitudinal component. Unlike the other elastic threads that are bonded seamlessly from the left to the right edge of the cover sheet 4, the elastic thread 4R3 is curved and positioned in the direction of the crotch area 1B, overlapping with a portion of the hourglass-shaped absorbent core 8c at its constricted portion. This configuration allows the areas where the elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 are positioned to function as leg gathers.

The cover sheet 4 is folded back along the fold lines 4FF and 4RF, extending to the area where the elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are placed, reinforcing that area with the folded portion. The end sheets 11F and 11R are provided in the area where the cover sheet 4, folded back along the fold lines 4FF and 4RF, does not extend, reinforcing the area where the elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are placed.

In this application, the term "overlapping sheets" is not limited to a state in which the overlapping sheets are in full contact with each other, but also includes a concept that includes a state in which only parts of the sheets overlap. For example, the end sheet 11F is overlapped such that a part of one end of the back sheet 6 in the longitudinal direction touches a part of the cover sheet 4. The diaper 1 is formed by stacking the back sheet 6 and top sheet 9 with the absorbent material 8 in between, as well as the cover sheet 4, end sheets 11F, 11R, inner cover sheet 5, and side sheets 10L, 10R. Therefore, it can be said that the diaper has a laminate made up of these multiple sheets stacked on top of each other.

Next, the bonding configuration of the outer sheet of the diaper 1 according to the embodiment will be described using Figure 4. Figure 4 is a schematic diagram showing the diaper 1 according to Embodiment 1 in an unfolded and extended state. The diaper 1 has an outer sheet consisting of a cover sheet 4 that forms the outer surface and an inner cover sheet 5 laminated on the skin-facing side of the cover sheet 4. The cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 are bonded together by multiple adhesive points.

Specifically, in the crotch area 1B, multiple linear adhesive sections 5L are provided to bond the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5. These multiple linear adhesive sections L5 are intermittently arranged along the longitudinal direction of the diaper 1. In other words, each of the multiple linear adhesive sections L5 is spaced apart from the others in the longitudinal direction. The multiple linear adhesive sections L5 extend to the ends in the width direction. The linear adhesive sections L5 are formed by applying hot-melt adhesive.

Furthermore, the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 are bonded together by a plurality of adhesive portions 40F, 40R, 41F, 41R, 42F, and 42R that extend along the width direction of the diaper 1. These adhesive portions are formed with hot melt adhesive. Multiple adhesive portions 40F are formed spaced apart from each other. The plurality of adhesive portions 40F are formed along each of the plurality of elastic threads 4F1, and the elastic threads 4F1 are bonded to the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 by the adhesive portions 40F. Multiple adhesive portions 40R are formed spaced apart from each other. The plurality of adhesive portions 40R are formed along each of the plurality of elastic threads 4R1, and the elastic threads 4R1 are bonded to the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 by the adhesive portions 40R. Multiple adhesive portions 40F are formed spaced apart from each other. The elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are bonded to the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 in their stretched state, forming an annular stretchable portion that extends along the width direction of the diaper 1 in the waist area 2D.

Furthermore, multiple adhesive portions 41F are formed spaced apart from each other. These multiple adhesive portions 41F are formed along each of the multiple elastic threads 4F2, and the elastic threads 4F2 are bonded to the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 by the adhesive portions 41F. Multiple adhesive portions 41R are formed spaced apart from each other. These multiple adhesive portions 41R are formed along each of the multiple elastic threads 4R2, and the elastic threads 4R2 are bonded to the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 by the adhesive portions 41R. The elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are bonded to the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 in their stretched state, forming an annular stretchable portion that extends along the width direction of the diaper 1 in the waist portion 2D. In the waist portion 2D of the diaper 1, the waist gather 3R shown in Figure 1 is formed by the bonding of the elastic threads 4F1, 4R1, 4F2, and 4R2 to the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 in their stretched state.

Multiple adhesive portions 42F are formed spaced apart from each other. The adhesive portions 42F bond the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 on the crotch area 1B side of the elastic thread 4F2. Multiple adhesive portions 42R are formed spaced apart from each other. The adhesive portions 42R bond the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 on the crotch area 1B side of the elastic thread 4FR. The adhesive portions 42F are positioned on the front body area 1F side of the linear adhesive portion 5L, and the adhesive portions 42R are positioned on the back body area 1R side of the linear adhesive portion 5L. The adhesive portions 42F and 42R bond the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 in areas where no elastic thread is placed between the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5.

In this embodiment, the absorbent core 8c has a shape that is constricted in the width direction at the center of the longitudinal direction of the diaper 1. The area in which the absorbent core 8c is constricted in the width direction corresponds to the crotch area of the wearer and is the crotch area 1B. The widthwise end of the diaper 1 in the crotch area 1B extends along the longitudinal direction.

In this embodiment, since multiple linear adhesive portions L5 are provided in the crotch area 1B, the amount of hot-melt adhesive applied in the crotch area 1B can be relatively reduced, making the outer sheets of the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 more flexible. The diaper 1 softens the widthwise edges of the outer body, which are most likely to dig into the wearer's skin when worn, by providing multiple linear adhesive portions L5 at these widthwise edges, thereby suppressing a decrease in wearing comfort in the crotch area 1B.

Furthermore, the adhesive portions 40F, 40R, 41F, 41R, 42F, and 42R extend linearly and parallel to each other along the width direction of the diaper 1. Hereafter, the adhesive portions 40F, 40R, 41F, 41R, 42F, and 42R may be collectively referred to as the second linear adhesive portion 40F, etc. For bonding the elastic threads 4F1, 4F2, 4R1, and 4R2, it is preferable that the adhesive portions extend along the width direction. Also, in order to ensure a uniform feel between the waist portion 2D and other parts, the second linear adhesive portion 40F, etc., extending in the width direction is provided throughout the entire outer sheet.

If the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 are fully bonded together, a hot-melt adhesive is used for bonding, resulting in a rough feel against the wearer's skin. The diaper 1 according to this embodiment includes second linear bonding sections 40F, etc., for bonding the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5. This prevents the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 from being bonded between each of the second linear bonding sections 40F, thus suppressing a rough feel against the wearer's skin. As a result, the diaper 1 according to this embodiment can suppress a decrease in wearing comfort.

Furthermore, if the shape and extension direction of the adhesive portion differ in each region of the diaper 1, for example, in the areas where the elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are placed, or in the areas where the elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are placed, the way the outer sheet wrinkles will differ in each region, resulting in a poor appearance of the diaper. In contrast, in the diaper 1 according to this embodiment, since the extension direction of the second linear adhesive portion 40F, etc., is the same throughout all regions, the way the outer sheet wrinkles is uniform in each region, and the appearance is not compromised.

Furthermore, when the diaper 1 is divided into multiple regions in the longitudinal direction, the spacing between the second linear adhesive portions 40F, etc., is the same in each region. For example, the diaper 1 can be divided into regions where elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are located (for example, an example of the "first region"), regions where elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are located (for example, an example of the "second region"), and regions closer to the crotch than the regions where elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are located (for example, an example of the "third region"). The first region is the region adjacent to the edge of the torso opening that forms the torso opening 2T shown in Figure 1, and is the region where elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are located. The second region is adjacent to the first region on the crotch region 1B side, and is the region where elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are located. The third region is adjacent to the second region on the crotch region 1B side, and, excluding the crotch region 1B, is the region where no elastic material such as elastic threads is placed between the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5.

In the region where the elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are arranged, the spacing between the multiple adhesive parts 40F and 40R is the same. In other words, the multiple elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are arranged with the same spacing. Also, in the region where the elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are arranged, the spacing between the multiple adhesive parts 41F and 41R is the same. In other words, the multiple elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are arranged with the same spacing. Furthermore, in the region closer to the crotch than the region where the elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are arranged, the spacing between the multiple adhesive parts 42F and 42R is the same. In diaper 1, since the adhesive strength required by design differs in each region, by making the distance between the second linear adhesive parts 40F etc. uniform in each region, the overall texture and appearance change are made uniform.
Furthermore, it prevents excessive or insufficient adhesive strength in each region.

Furthermore, the spacing between adhesive portions 42F and 42R in the area below the crotch where elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are placed is wider than and less than twice the spacing between adhesive portions 40F and 40R in the area where elastic threads 4F1 and 4R1 are placed. Similarly, the spacing between adhesive portions 42F and 42R in the area below the crotch where elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are placed is wider than and less than twice the spacing between adhesive portions 41F and 41R in the area where elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are placed. In summary, the spacing between adhesive portions 42L and 42R in areas where elastic threads are not placed is wider than and less than twice the spacing between adhesive portions 40F and 40R and adhesive portions 41F and 41R in the areas where elastic threads 4F1, 4R1 and elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are placed. The area where the elastic threads 4F1, 4R1 and 4F2, 4R2 are located is the waist area 2D, where waist gathers are formed. The feel and appearance of the waist area 2D are due to the waist gathers, while the feel and appearance of the areas without gathers are due to the adhesive sections 42F, 42R. Therefore, by keeping the difference between the adhesive sections 42F, 42R in the areas without gathers and the adhesive sections 40F, 40R, 41F, 41R in the areas with waist gathers to less than twice the distance between them, the diaper 1 can minimize the differences in feel and appearance between different areas.

As mentioned above, the spacing between the adhesive portions 42F and 42R in the area below the crotch, beyond the area where the elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are located, is wider than, and at least twice, the spacing between the adhesive portions 41F and 41R in the area where the elastic threads 4F2 and 4R2 are located. The crotch area, in particular, requires breathability. By reducing the area of the adhesive portions 41F and 41R, diaper 1 can reduce the non-breathable adhesive area and achieve the necessary breathability.

Furthermore, since the crotch area 1B of diaper 1 is held between the wearer's thighs, the edges of the outer sheet dig into the thighs in the crotch area 1B. On the other hand, the front area 1F of diaper 1 conforms to the wearer's abdomen, and the back area 1R conforms to the wearer's buttocks and back. In the front area 1F and back area 1R, the outer sheet does not dig into the wearer's skin. Therefore, if the entire widthwise edge of the outer sheet is bonded in the crotch area 1B, that edge becomes hard and uncomfortable against the skin. However, by spacing the linear bonding portions 5L apart in the longitudinal direction in this area, the skin contact can be softened.

Furthermore, the diaper 1 is provided with full-surface adhesive sections 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR, which are located adjacent to the adhesive sections 42L and 42R on the widthwise end sides of the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5, and on the widthwise extension line between the adhesive sections 42L and 42R, where the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 are also bonded. The full-surface adhesive sections 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR are formed by applying hot melt adhesive to the entire surface of their formation areas. The full-surface adhesive sections 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR are located adjacent to the front body area 1F and back body area 1R sides of the linear adhesive section 5L on the widthwise end sides of the outer sheet, and are areas where the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 are fully bonded. On the left side of diaper 1, the crotch area 1B is located between the full-surface adhesive sections 43FL and 43RL, and on the right side of diaper 1, the crotch area 1B is located between the full-surface adhesive sections 43FR and 43RR. The full-surface adhesive sections 43FL and 43FR are connected at the center in the width direction and formed integrally. In this configuration, with the crotch area 1B sandwiched between the full-surface adhesive sections when viewed in the longitudinal direction of diaper 1, the full-surface adhesive sections 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR function as beams in the longitudinal direction of diaper 1.
This makes it possible to make the crotch area 1B less prone to shrinking.

Furthermore, the full-surface adhesive sections 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR are located at the ends of the diaper 1 in the width direction. When viewing the diaper 1 in the width direction, a linear adhesive section 42F is located between the full-surface adhesive section 43FL and the full-surface adhesive section 43FR, and a linear adhesive section 42R is located between the full-surface adhesive section 43RL and the full-surface adhesive section 43RR. By providing full-surface adhesive sections at both ends of the diaper 1 in the width direction in this way, the central part in the width direction, which is between the full-surface adhesive sections, can be made less prone to shrinkage.

Furthermore, as shown in Figure 1, the diaper 1 includes a left lower limb opening 2L and a right lower limb opening 2R through which the wearer's lower limbs are inserted. The lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR that form the lower limb openings 2L and 2R are formed including a cover sheet 4 and an inner cover sheet 5. Also, as shown in Figure 4, the full-surface adhesive portions 43FL and 43RL are formed along the lower limb opening edge 2KL up to the lower limb opening edge 2KL. Similarly, the full-surface adhesive portions 43FR and 43RR are formed along the lower limb opening edge 2KR up to the lower limb opening edge 2KR. As a result, in the lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR that extend diagonally with respect to the longitudinal direction of the diaper 1, i.e., the lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR other than the crotch area 1B, a full-surface adhesive portion can be provided over the entire area without any areas being formed where the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5 are not adhered. This allows for a uniform texture across the entire widthwise edge of the exterior sheet.

The elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 are bonded to the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 by the full-surface adhesive portions 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR. The elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 extend from the crotch region 1B side of the side seal portions SL and SR along the lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR. The elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 form leg gathers that contract the lower limb openings 2L and 2R. In this embodiment, by bonding the elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 at each full-surface adhesive portion, it is possible to prevent the elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 used for forming the leg gathers from falling off.

Furthermore, the diaper 1 includes another expandable member that extends in a direction perpendicular to the linear adhesive portion 5L and the second linear adhesive portion 40F when viewed from above. This other expandable member may be, for example, the elastic threads 10L1 and 10R1 for the three-dimensional gathers 3BL and 3BR shown in Figure 2, or an elastic thread separately provided between the cover sheet 4 and the inner cover sheet 5. When the linear adhesive portion 5L and the second linear adhesive portion 40F, which extend in the width direction of the diaper 1, are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction, the outer sheet shrinks in the longitudinal direction due to the other expandable member, and wrinkles extending in the width direction can be formed in the outer sheet located in the non-adhesive area between the linear adhesive portion 5L and the second linear adhesive portion 40F. Because these wrinkles are aligned throughout the entire surface, the diaper 1 exhibits a uniform appearance. Furthermore, if the above-mentioned additional stretchable member is not provided, it becomes difficult to control the direction of wrinkles in the outer sheet. This wrinkle direction can cause the absorbent material to shift, potentially reducing the comfort of wearing the diaper 1. The diaper 1 in this embodiment, by providing the above-mentioned additional stretchable member, can suppress this reduction in comfort.

Furthermore, the lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR have curves with multiple inflection points. At the inflection points of the lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR, the cutting direction of the cutting device's blade changes when forming the lower limb openings 2L and 2R, potentially making it difficult to cut the cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5 of the diaper 1. In this embodiment, the full-surface adhesive portions 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR are provided including the inflection points of the lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR. This makes it easier to cut the sheet along the lower limb opening edges 2KL and 2KR even at these inflection points, allowing for high-precision cutting of the lower limb opening 2L and 2R formation areas.

<Embodiment 2>
Next, we will describe the diaper 1 according to Embodiment 2. Figure 5 is an example of an exploded perspective view of the diaper 1 according to Embodiment 2. Note that components identical to those of Embodiment 1 described above are denoted by the same reference numerals, and their descriptions are omitted.

In this embodiment, the absorbent body 8 has multiple mats. The absorbent body 8 comprises an absorbent core 8c consisting of multiple mats and a core wrap sheet 7 enclosing the absorbent core 8c. In this embodiment, as shown in Figure 5, the absorbent core 8c has an upper absorbent mat 8a and a lower absorbent mat 8b. The upper absorbent mat 8a is roughly hourglass-shaped with a constricted portion, and the lower absorbent mat 8b is rectangular. Furthermore, the width of the lower absorbent mat 8b is approximately the same as the width of the constricted portion of the upper absorbent mat 8a. Thus, the absorbent core 8c may be formed by laminating two layers of absorbent mats. The elastic threads 4F3 and 4R3 may be arranged on both the left and right sides, and each may be cut in the center in the width direction.

<Embodiment 3>
Next, the diaper 1 according to Embodiment 3 will be described. Figure 6 is an example of a schematic plan view showing the diaper according to Embodiment 3 in an unfolded and extended state. Note that components identical to those of Embodiment 1 described above are denoted by the same reference numerals and their descriptions are omitted.

The elastic thread 4F3 (an example of the "stretchable member" in this disclosure) is provided so as to traverse the crotch area 1B on the front body side in the left-right direction. More specifically, the elastic thread 4F3 is provided along the lower limb opening 2L on the front body area 1F side, traversing the crotch area 1B side in the width direction, extending along the lower limb opening 2R, and is provided on the outer sheet in an extended state.

In the region where the elastic thread 4F3 crosses, the inner cover sheet 5 and the absorbent material 8 are not adhered (referred to as the non-adhered region 15). In practice, within the non-adhered region 15, the inner cover sheet 5 and the back sheet 6 are not adhered. In this embodiment, the non-adhered region 15 is provided across the entire overlapping region of the crotch area 1B where the elastic thread 4F3 and the absorbent material 8 overlap. Note that in Figure 6, the non-adhered region 15 is shown as a filled-in area. The non-adhered region 15 extends across the entire width of the back sheet 6.

In this embodiment, as shown in Figure 6, the non-adhesive region 15 extends towards the front body region 1F and the back body region 1R beyond the portion where the elastic thread 4F3 crosses the crotch region 1B (hereinafter, this portion may be referred to as the "transverse portion of the elastic thread 4F3"). Furthermore, as shown in Figure 6, the elastic thread 4F3 has a longitudinal component of the diaper 1 outside the width direction of the diaper 1, relative to the absorbent material 8. Here, the longitudinal component refers to the component that extends and stretches along the longitudinal direction of the diaper 1; even if the elastic thread 4F3 extends diagonally to the longitudinal direction, the elastic thread 4F3 still has a longitudinal component.

The non-adhesive region 15 is formed to include the front body region 1F side of the extended region of the elastic thread 4F3, and furthermore, the outer widthwise portion of the elastic thread 4F3 where it crosses the absorbent material 8 has a component that stretches in the longitudinal direction of the diaper 1. Therefore, the outer sheet (cover sheet 4 and inner cover sheet 5) in the non-adhesive region 15 is pulled towards the front body region 1F by the elastic thread 4F3, and this outer sheet also pulls the inner body containing the absorbent material 8 towards the front body region 1F. A diaper 1 with this configuration can prevent the absorbent material 8 from separating from the wearer's skin by pulling the skin-facing side of the non-adhesive region 15 towards the front body region 1F. Note that if the non-adhesive region 15 is formed to include the front body region 1F side beyond the extended region of the elastic thread 4F3, it can also be pulled towards the front body region 1F by the elastic thread 4F3, and the inner body containing the absorbent material 8 can also be pulled towards the front body region 1F.

The non-adhesive area 15 is located adjacent to the front of the crotch. More specifically, the non-adhesive area 15 is provided at the location corresponding to the urethral opening of a female wearer and at the location corresponding to the wearer's groin.

Here, we will explain the case where the wearer of diaper 1 is female. When a woman wears diaper 1, the urethral opening is designed to be approximately located at the transverse portion of the elastic thread 4F3, i.e., the non-adhesive region 15. Therefore, the non-adhesive region 15 includes the area corresponding to the urethral opening of a female wearer. As described above, the elastic thread 4F3 pulls the inner lining, including the outer sheet and absorbent material 8, on the non-adhesive region 15 towards the front body region 1F, bringing the absorbent material 8 closer to the woman's urethral opening, making it easier for urine excreted from the urethra to penetrate the absorbent material 8. This allows diaper 1 to suppress urine leakage.

Next, we will explain the case where the wearer of diaper 1 is male. When a male wears diaper 1, the transverse portion of the elastic thread 4F3, i.e., the non-adhesive area 15, is designed to be on the crotch area 1B side of the position of the male penis (male genitalia). In other words, the male penis is located on the front body area 1F side of the non-adhesive area 15. Thus, the non-adhesive area 15 is on the crotch area 1B side of the area corresponding to the penis. By using the elastic thread 4F3 to pull the inner body, including the outer sheet and absorbent material 8, on the non-adhesive area 15 towards the front body area 1F, diaper 1 can press the absorbent material 8 against the back of the testicles and create a space to hold the penis in the area corresponding to the penis. Since male wearers urinate from the urethral opening of the penis, diaper 1 can control the direction of urination and suppress urine leakage by holding the penis.

Furthermore, when a man wears diaper 1, the design ensures that the testicles are generally positioned where the elastic thread 4F3 crosses the crotch area 1B. Therefore, the area where the elastic thread 4F3 crosses the crotch area 1B includes the area corresponding to the male wearer's testicles. While the absorbent material 8 expands along with the bulge of the testicles, the elastic thread 4F3 lifts the absorbent material 8, thus holding the testicles in place. Additionally, even if the position of the testicles shifts or differs between wearers, the non-adhesive area 15 allows for adjustment of the relative position of the elastic thread 4F3's crossing portion to the testicles, enabling the elastic thread 4F3 to lift the absorbent material 8 in the area where the testicles are located, thereby holding the testicles in place.

Furthermore, by providing a non-adhesive area 15, diaper 1 can suppress the contraction of the absorbent material 8 at the crossing portion of the elastic thread 4F3. If the absorbent material contracts and comes into contact with the wearer's skin, it can cause discomfort and reduce wearing comfort. Diaper 1 according to this embodiment can suppress this reduction in wearing comfort by suppressing the contraction of the absorbent material 8. Also, if the absorbent material contracts after absorbing urine, the pulp may break down. Diaper 1 according to this embodiment can suppress deformation of the absorbent material 8 by suppressing its contraction.

Furthermore, the diaper 1 is provided with elastic threads 4R3 on the outer sheet in an extended state, along the left and right lower limb openings 2L and 2R on the wearer's back. The area between the left and right elastic threads 4R3 facing each other in the crotch area 1B becomes the anal area 45, which corresponds to the wearer's anus. In Figure 6, the anal area 45 is shown enclosed by a dotted line. Since the elastic threads 4R3 on both sides are not connected in the center of the width direction of the diaper 1, they do not have elastic force in that center of the width direction. In other words, the elastic threads 4R3 do not extend to the anal area 45, and the anal area 45 is pulled outward by the contractile force of the elastic threads 4R3, so that the anal area 45 can be moved further away from the skin surface. As a result, the diaper 1 can form a stool-retaining space for accumulating stool in the anal area 45. Diaper 1, by creating a space to contain feces, can suppress the decrease in wearing comfort caused by feces sticking to the wearer's skin or getting trapped in the gluteal cleft.

Here, the arrangement relationship between the non-adhesive area 15 and the linear adhesive portion 5L will be explained. Note that Figure 6 shows the non-adhesive area 15 between the inner cover sheet 5 (outer sheet) and the back sheet 6 (inner body). Similar to Figure 4, in this embodiment, the second linear adhesive portion 40F and the full-surface adhesive portions 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR are also formed. Thread elastic 4F3
, 4R3 is entirely bonded to the exterior sheet by the full-surface adhesive sections 43FL, 43FR, 43RL, and 43RR.

The non-adhesive area 15 generally overlaps with the widthwise inner side (crotch side) of the full-surface adhesive sections 43FL and 43FR shown in Figure 4, and the multiple linear adhesive sections 5L are located on the crotch side of the non-adhesive area 15. On the non-skin side of the non-adhesive area 15, the elastic thread 4F3 contracts, pulling the outer sheet inward in the widthwise direction. On the crotch side (back side) of the non-adhesive area 15, the outer sheet and the inner body including the back sheet 6 and absorbent material 8 are bonded by the linear adhesive sections 5L from the widthwise center of the back sheet 6 at a predetermined width, so the outer sheet folds downward (towards the non-skin side) starting from the frontmost linear adhesive section 5L. When the diaper 1 is worn in this state, the widthwise end of the crotch area follows the inner thigh of the wearer. In diaper 1, the linear adhesive portions 5L in the crotch area are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction, making it softer against the skin. Furthermore, the widthwise ends of the crotch area are aligned with the inner thighs, preventing the outer sheet from digging into the skin. As a result, diaper 1 can suppress a decrease in wearing comfort in the crotch area 1B. In addition, after forming the linear adhesive portions 5L, the outer sheet is cut along the lower limb opening edges 2KL, 2KR (see Figure 4) to form the left and right lower limb openings 2L, 2R. At the widthwise ends of the linear adhesive portions 5L, the outer sheet becomes fuzzy and bulky due to the cutting. As a result, when the widthwise ends of the crotch area are aligned with the inner thighs, diaper 1 can soften the feel of the outer sheet against the skin.

<Other Embodiments>
Next, other embodiments will be described. In embodiments 1 and 3 described above, the linear adhesive portion 5L and the second linear adhesive portion 40F are formed as continuous lines in the width direction, but they may also be formed as discontinuous dotted lines in the width direction.
