Description

The aspects of this invention generally relate to a mounting structure for a bathroom mirror.

A mirror mounting structure is known that improves aesthetics by concealing fasteners and other components so that they are not visible to the user. For example, Patent Document 1 describes a method where a hook is provided on the mounting surface, and a hook receiver is provided on the back of the mirror. The mirror is then attached to the mounting surface by locking the hook and the hook receiver together. This allows the hook and hook receiver to be concealed by the mirror when it is mounted.

However, if a mounting structure that merely locks into place, as described above, is used for a bathroom mirror installed in a washroom, the mirror may move relative to the mounting surface during cleaning, potentially reducing the ease of cleaning. Bathroom mirrors are prone to surface soiling from water splashes during washing, and therefore require relatively frequent cleaning. For this reason, it is necessary to properly secure bathroom mirrors to prevent movement during cleaning and ensure high ease of cleaning.

On the other hand, in order to ensure proper installation of the bathroom mirror while minimizing the decline in aesthetic appeal, simply placing the fasteners in a position that is difficult to see could make it difficult to secure working space for fingers and tools, potentially leading to a decrease in ease of installation.

Therefore, the mounting structure for bathroom mirrors is desired to allow for proper fixing of the mirror while achieving high aesthetic appeal and ease of installation.

This invention was made based on the recognition of the above problems, and aims to provide a mounting structure for a bathroom mirror that allows for proper fixing of the mirror while achieving high design quality and ease of installation.

The first invention is a mounting structure for a bathroom mirror for mounting a bathroom mirror to a mounting surface, comprising: a frame having a pair of side plates; a bathroom mirror provided in front of the frame; a mirror body covering the sides of the space between the bathroom mirror and the mounting surface with the pair of side plates; a first receiver attached to the mounting surface; a second receiver attached to the mounting surface so as to be located below the first receiver; a first mounting device provided on the back of the mirror body and engaging with the first receiver in the vertical direction; and the first mounting device on the back of the mirror body. This is a bathroom mirror mounting structure characterized by comprising: a second mounting bracket positioned lower than the first receiving bracket and placed on the second receiving bracket in a state where the forward tilting of the mirror body is restricted by the engagement of the first receiving bracket and the first mounting bracket; and a fixing member attached from below to the second receiving bracket and the second mounting bracket placed on the second receiving bracket, for fixing the second mounting bracket to the second receiving bracket, wherein, when the second mounting bracket is placed on the second receiving bracket, the front end of the second receiving bracket is positioned behind the bathroom mirror.

This bathroom mirror mounting structure allows for temporary fixing of the mirror body by engaging the first receiver and first mounting bracket while moving the mirror body vertically relative to the mounting surface, thereby restricting the mirror body from tilting forward, and then placing the second mounting bracket on top of the second receiver. By making the mirror body move vertically, proper installation of the mirror body can be achieved even in bathrooms with narrow widths. Furthermore, by attaching the fixing member to the second receiver and second mounting bracket from below, adequate workspace for fingers and tools can be secured below the mirror body while attaching the fixing member. Additionally, when the second mounting bracket is placed on the second receiver, the front end of the second receiver is positioned behind the bathroom mirror, making the second receiver difficult to see for users, thus achieving a high level of aesthetic appeal. Therefore, this mounting structure provides a bathroom mirror that allows for proper fixing of the mirror while achieving high aesthetic appeal and ease of installation.

The second invention is a bathroom mirror mounting structure characterized in that, in the first invention, the second mounting bracket is provided above the lower end of the bathroom mirror, and when the second mounting bracket is placed on the second support, the lower end of the second support is positioned above the lower end of the bathroom mirror.

According to this bathroom mirror mounting structure, when the second mounting bracket is placed on the second support bracket, the lower end of the second support bracket is positioned above the lower end of the bathroom mirror. This makes the second support bracket less visible to the user, resulting in a higher level of aesthetic appeal.

The third invention is a bathroom mirror mounting structure characterized in that, in the first or second invention, the width of one of the first receiver and the first mounting bracket in the left-right direction is wider than the width of the other of the first receiver and the first mounting bracket in the left-right direction.

This bathroom mirror mounting structure allows for wider left-right widths of one of the first support brackets and the first mounting bracket than the other, thereby restricting the mirror's forward tilt over a wide range in the left-right direction. Therefore, when temporarily fixing the mirror to the mounting surface, the left-right positioning of the first support bracket and the first mounting bracket can be easily adjusted, further improving ease of installation.

The fourth invention is a bathroom mirror mounting structure characterized in that, in any one of the first to third inventions, the first receiving member opens upward, and the first mounting member engages with the first receiving member from above.

This bathroom mirror mounting structure allows the mirror body to be installed from above relative to the mounting surface, significantly improving ease of installation.

The fifth invention is a bathroom mirror mounting structure characterized in that, in any one of the first to fourth inventions, when the second mounting bracket is placed on the second receiving bracket, a vertical gap is provided between the first mounting bracket and the first receiving bracket.

This bathroom mirror mounting structure prevents the first mounting bracket from contacting the first receiver and suppresses the formation of a gap between the second receiver and the second mounting bracket. Therefore, the bathroom mirror can be more securely fixed. Furthermore, by providing a gap between the first mounting bracket and the first receiver, frictional resistance between the two can be reduced. For example, after placing the second mounting bracket on the second receiver, it becomes easier to adjust the left-right position of the mirror body. Moreover, by providing a gap between the first mounting bracket and the first receiver, for example, if multiple first receivers and first mounting brackets are provided, the gap can absorb positional errors in the height direction of the multiple components.

According to an aspect of the present invention, it is possible to provide a mounting structure for a bathroom mirror that allows for proper fixing of the mirror while achieving high aesthetic appeal and ease of installation.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. In each drawing, similar components are denoted by the same reference numerals, and detailed descriptions are omitted as appropriate.
Figures 1(a) and 1(b) are schematic front and side views of a washbasin vanity according to the embodiment.
As shown in Figures 1(a) and 1(b), the vanity unit 2 comprises a support base 3, a washbasin 4, a faucet device 5, and a mirror device 10. The vanity unit 2 is installed in a washroom or other washroom space and is used while attached to a predetermined mounting surface WS in the washroom space.

In the following specification, the direction in which the mounting surface WS faces will be referred to as "forward," and the opposite direction will be referred to as "rearward." Furthermore, with the forward-facing position as the reference point, the right, left, upper, and lower sides will be referred to as "right side," "left side," "upper," and "downward," respectively.

The support base 3 supports the washbasin 4. The support base 3 is, for example, a floor cabinet. In this example, the support base 3 is a drawer-type cabinet. The support base 3 could also be, for example, a double-door cabinet. The support base 3 can have any configuration capable of supporting the washbasin 4. Furthermore, for example, if the washbasin 4 is directly mounted to the mounting surface WS, the support base 3 may be omitted.

The washbasin 4 is mounted on the support base 3. The washbasin 4 has a concave washbowl 4a that slopes downwards. The washbowl 4a receives water discharged from the faucet device 5.

The faucet device 5 is installed on the washbasin 4. The faucet device 5 may, for example, be installed inside the washbasin 4 or attached to the mounting surface WS. The faucet device 5 has a spout 5a and an operating unit 5b. The spout 5a discharges water toward the washbasin 4a. The operating unit 5b adjusts the flow rate and temperature of the water discharged from the spout 5a. In this example, the operating unit 5b is a lever handle. The operating unit 5b is not limited to this and may be a rotary handle or the like. The operating unit 5b only needs to be able to adjust the flow rate.

The mirror device 10 is installed above the washbasin 4 and the faucet device 5. The mirror device 10 is attached to the mounting surface WS. The mirror device 10 has a washbasin mirror 16. The washbasin mirror 16 is, for example, a single, roughly rectangular flat plate. In other words, the washbasin mirror 16 is a single-sided mirror.

Thus, the mirror device 10 positions the bathroom mirror 16 above the washbasin 4 and the faucet device 5. This allows the user to check their face and hair while performing washing activities such as handwashing or facewashing. The bathroom mirror 16 is attached to the mounting surface WS by the mirror device 10. In other words, the mirror device 10 provides a mounting structure for attaching the bathroom mirror 16 to the mounting surface WS.

As shown in Figures 2 to 4, the mirror device 10 (bathroom mirror mounting structure) comprises a mirror body 12, a first support 21, a second support 22, a first mounting fixture 31, a second mounting fixture 32, and a fixing member 35.

The mirror body 12 comprises a frame 14 and a bathroom mirror 16. The frame 14 has a pair of side panels 40. The bathroom mirror 16 is mounted in front of the frame 14. In other words, the bathroom mirror 16 is mounted at the front end of each side panel 40. The frame 14 is mounted on the mounting surface WS with the rear ends of each side panel 40 close to the mounting surface WS. Therefore, the bathroom mirror 16 is mounted on the mounting surface WS with a distance equal to the width of each side panel 40. The mirror body 12 covers the sides of the space SP between the bathroom mirror 16 and the mounting surface WS with the pair of side panels 40. This prevents the back of the bathroom mirror 16 and the space SP from being visible from the side when mounted on the mounting surface WS.

The frame 14 further includes, for example, reinforcing members 42 and 43. The reinforcing members 42 and 43 extend in the left-right direction and connect each side plate 40. Reinforcing member 42 is provided near the upper end of each side plate 40. Reinforcing member 43 is provided near the lower end of each side plate 40. Thus, together with each side plate 40, the reinforcing members 42 and 43 form a rectangular frame, reinforcing the frame 14. However, the reinforcing members 42 and 43 are provided as needed and can be omitted. Furthermore, each reinforcing member 42 and 43 is provided near the front end of each side plate 40. In other words, each reinforcing member 42 and 43 is provided close to the back of the bathroom mirror 16.

The mirror body 12 further includes, for example, mirror support parts 44 and 45. Mirror support part 44 engages with the upper end of the bathroom mirror 16. Mirror support part 44 is attached to the reinforcing member 42, for example, by screwing it in. Mirror support part 45 engages with the lower end of the bathroom mirror 16. Mirror support part 45 is attached to the reinforcing member 43, for example, by screwing it in. In this way, the bathroom mirror 16 is mounted to the front of the frame 14 via the mirror support parts 44 and 45, with its upper and lower ends supported by them. This allows the bathroom mirror 16 to be mounted to the front of the frame 14 while minimizing the exposure of fasteners such as screws. However, the method of attaching the bathroom mirror 16 to the frame 14 is not limited to the above and may be any method.

The mirror body 12 further includes, for example, a lighting unit 50, a reflector 52, and a cover 54. The frame 14 has an opening at the top. The lighting unit 50 is installed in the space SP between the bathroom mirror 16 and the mounting surface WS. In other words, the lighting unit 50 is installed inside the frame 14. The lighting unit 50 irradiates light (visible light) toward the opening at the top of the frame 14.

The reflector 52 is provided on the upper part of the frame 14. The reflector 52 extends upward from, for example, the upper rear end of the frame 14, and also extends forward. The reflector 52 reflects the light emitted upward from the lighting unit 50 toward the forward and downward direction. This allows the light emitted from the lighting unit 50 and reflected by the reflector 52 to illuminate the surface of the bathroom mirror 16 and the user's face.

The cover 54 is provided on the upper part of the frame 14 and closes the opening at the top of the frame 14. The cover 54 is light-transmitting to light emitted from the illumination unit 50. The cover 54 is, for example, a transparent flat plate. This allows the light emitted from the illumination unit 50 to be directed towards the reflector 52 while preventing dust and other particles from entering the frame 14 through the opening at the top.

The configuration of the lighting unit 50 and other components is not limited to the above. For example, the lighting unit 50 may be mounted on the frame 14 and directed to illuminate the front of the bathroom mirror 16. The configuration of the lighting unit 50 can be any configuration that enables it to illuminate the front of the bathroom mirror 16. Furthermore, the lighting unit 50, reflector 52, and cover 54 can be provided as needed and are optional.

The first mounting bracket 21 is attached to the mounting surface WS. The first mounting bracket 21 is attached to the mounting surface WS, for example, by screw fastening. The method of attaching the first mounting bracket 21 to the mounting surface WS is not limited to screw fastening; any method that allows the first mounting bracket 21 to be properly attached is acceptable.

The first support member 21 has, for example, a fixing portion 21a fixed to the mounting surface WS by screws or the like, a first extending portion 21b extending forward from the upper end of the fixing portion 21a, and a second extending portion 21c extending upward from the front end of the first extending portion 21b. The first support member 21 is, for example, a flat plate bent in a crank shape.

Thus, the first receiving member 21 opens upward, allowing engagement from above. The configuration of the first receiving member 21 is not limited to the above; it may be any configuration that opens upward and allows engagement from above. Conversely, the first receiving member 21 may also be configured to open downward, allowing engagement from below.

The mirror device 10 includes, for example, a plurality of first support members 21 arranged side by side in the left-right direction. In this example, the mirror device 10 includes two first support members 21. However, the number of first support members 21 is not limited to two; it may be one, three or more, or any number.

The second support bracket 22 is mounted on the mounting surface WS so as to be positioned below the first support bracket 21. The second support bracket 22 is mounted on the mounting surface WS, for example, by screw fastening. The method of mounting the second support bracket 22 to the mounting surface WS is not limited to screw fastening; any mounting method that allows the second support bracket 22 to be properly attached is acceptable.

The mirror device 10 includes, for example, a plurality of second support members 22 arranged side by side in the left-right direction. In this example, the mirror device 10 includes two second support members 22. However, the number of second support members 22 is not limited to two; it may be one, three or more, or any number.

The first mounting bracket 31 is provided on the back of the mirror body 12. The first mounting bracket 31 may also be provided on the back of the frame 14 or on the back of the bathroom mirror 16. The first mounting bracket 31 engages with the first receiving bracket 21 in the vertical direction. In this example, the first receiving bracket 21 opens upward. Therefore, the first mounting bracket 31 engages with the first receiving bracket 21 from above. For example, if the first receiving bracket 21 opens downward, the first mounting bracket 31 engages with the first receiving bracket 21 from below.

The first mounting bracket 31 extends, for example, in the left-right direction and connects a pair of side plates 40. The first mounting bracket 31 is, for example, a horizontal bar. This allows the first mounting bracket 31 to increase the strength of the frame 14. In other words, the first mounting bracket 31 can also function as a reinforcing material.

The front-to-back width of the first mounting bracket 31 is, for example, narrower than the front-to-back width of the first extending portion 21b of the first receiving bracket 21. This allows the first mounting bracket 31 to be engaged with the first receiving bracket 21 from above.

Furthermore, the width W2 of the first mounting bracket 31 in the left-right direction is wider than the width W1 of the first receiving bracket 21 in the left-right direction. The first mounting bracket 31 engages with each of the two first receiving brackets 21, which are arranged side by side in the left-right direction.

The configuration of the first receiver 21 and the first mounting bracket 31 is not limited to the above, and may be any configuration that allows them to engage with each other. For example, conversely to the above, the width W1 in the left-right direction of the first receiver 21 may be wider than the width W2 in the left-right direction of the first mounting bracket 31.

The second mounting bracket 32 is provided on the back of the mirror body 12, below the first mounting bracket 31, and is placed on the second support bracket 22, with the engagement of the first support bracket 21 and the first mounting bracket 31 restricting the mirror body 12 from tilting forward. In this example, the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on each of the two second support brackets 22, which are arranged side by side in the left-right direction. The second mounting bracket 32 may be provided on the back of the frame 14 or on the back of the bathroom mirror 16.

When the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on the second receiving bracket 22, a vertical gap GP (see Figure 3) is provided between the first mounting bracket 31 and the first receiving bracket 21. In this example, the first mounting bracket 31 engages with the first receiving bracket 21 from above. Therefore, in this example, the gap GP is provided between the first mounting bracket 31 and the first receiving bracket 21 when the first mounting bracket 31 is positioned above the first receiving bracket 21. Conversely, when the first mounting bracket 31 engages with the first receiving bracket 21 from below, the gap GP is provided between the first mounting bracket 31 and the first receiving bracket 21 when the first mounting bracket 31 is positioned below the first receiving bracket 21.

When the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on the second support bracket 22, the front end 22f of the second support bracket 22 is positioned behind the bathroom mirror 16.

The second mounting bracket 32 is positioned above the lower end 16b of the bathroom mirror 16. When the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on the second support bracket 22, the lower end 22b of the second support bracket 22 is positioned above the lower end 16b of the bathroom mirror 16.

The second support bracket 22 and the second mounting bracket 32 are, for example, flat plates bent into a roughly L-shape in cross-section. The second mounting bracket 32 is attached to the reinforcing member 43, for example, by screwing it in. Furthermore, the second mounting bracket 32 extends in the left-right direction, covering the lower part of the space SP between the bathroom mirror 16 and the mounting surface WS. In other words, the second mounting bracket 32 also functions as the bottom plate of the frame 14. This prevents the back of the bathroom mirror 16 and the space SP from being visible from below when mounted on the mounting surface WS. The configuration of the second support bracket 22 and the second mounting bracket 32 is not limited to the above; any configuration is acceptable in which the second mounting bracket 32 can be placed on top of the second support bracket 22.

The mirror body 12 further includes a switch 56 for, for example, switching the lighting unit 50 on and off. The switch 56 is attached to the bottom surface of a second mounting bracket 32, which is positioned above the lower end 16b of the bathroom mirror 16. The lower end of the switch 56 is positioned above the lower end of the frame 14. This prevents the switch 56 from being exposed forward. This further improves the aesthetic design of the mirror device 10. Furthermore, even if the switch 56 is positioned on the bottom side of the frame 14, it is possible to prevent the switch 56 from being subjected to impacts during transportation or installation of the mirror device 10.

The fixing member 35 is attached from below to the second receiver 22 and the second mounting bracket 32 placed on the second receiver 22, thereby fixing the second mounting bracket 32 to the second receiver 22. The fixing member 35 is, for example, a male screw. The second receiver 22 is provided with, for example, a through hole for inserting the fixing member 35. The second mounting bracket 32 is provided with, for example, a female screw that engages with the fixing member 35. This allows the fixing member 35 to secure the second mounting bracket 32 to the second receiver 22. For example, the second mounting bracket 32 can be completely restrained relative to the second receiver 22. The fixing member 35 is not limited to a male screw; it may be any member capable of fixing the second mounting bracket 32 to the second receiver 22.

Figures 5(a) to 5(c) are schematic cross-sectional views illustrating the installation process according to the embodiment.
As shown in Figure 5(a), when installing the mirror device 10, first the first support 21 and the second support 22 are attached to predetermined positions on the mounting surface WS.

Next, as shown in Figures 5(a) to 5(c), the mirror body 12 is moved vertically to engage the first receiver 21 and the first mounting bracket 31, and the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on top of the second receiver 22, thereby temporarily fixing the mirror body 12 in a state where forward tilting is restricted. In this example, the mirror body 12 is moved from top to bottom to engage the first receiver 21 and the first mounting bracket 31, and the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on top of the second receiver 22.

By making the mirror body 12 move in the vertical direction, the mirror body 12 can be properly installed even in narrow bathroom spaces where walls are close to both sides of the mirror body 12.

As shown in Figure 5(c), after temporarily fixing the mirror body 12, the fixing member 35 is attached to the second receiver 22 and the second mounting bracket 32 from below, thereby fixing the second mounting bracket 32 to the second receiver 22. In other words, the mirror body 12 is permanently fixed. This attaches the mirror body 12 to the mounting surface WS. In other words, the bathroom mirror 16 is attached to the mounting surface WS.

As described above, according to the mounting structure of the mirror device 10 and its bathroom mirror 16 according to this embodiment, the mirror body 12 can be temporarily fixed by engaging the first receiver 21 and the first mounting bracket 31 while moving the mirror body 12 in the vertical direction relative to the mounting surface WS, thereby restricting the mirror body 12 from tilting forward, and then placing the second mounting bracket 32 on the second receiver 22. In this case, by setting the direction of movement of the mirror body 12 to the vertical direction, the mirror body 12 can be properly installed even in bathrooms with narrow widths in the horizontal direction. Furthermore, by attaching the fixing member 35 to the second receiver 22 and the second mounting bracket 32 from below, the fixing member 35 can be attached while appropriately securing working space for fingers and tools below the mirror body 12. Furthermore, when the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on the second support bracket 22, the front end 22f of the second support bracket 22 is positioned behind the bathroom mirror 16, making the second support bracket 22 difficult to see for the user, thus achieving a high level of aesthetic appeal. Therefore, it is possible to provide a mounting structure for the bathroom mirror 16 that allows for proper fixing of the bathroom mirror 16 while achieving high aesthetic appeal and ease of installation.

Furthermore, in the mirror device 10, when the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on the second support bracket 22, the lower end 22b of the second support bracket 22 is positioned above the lower end 16b of the washbasin mirror 16. This makes the second support bracket 22 less visible to the user, thus achieving a higher level of aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the visibility of fixing members 35 and other components attached to the second support bracket 22 from below can be more effectively suppressed.

Furthermore, in the mirror device 10, by making the width of one of the first support brackets 21 and the first mounting bracket 31 in the left-right direction wider than the width of the other in the left-right direction, the forward tilting of the mirror body 12 can be restricted over a wide range in the left-right direction. Therefore, when temporarily fixing the mirror body 12 to the mounting surface WS, the left-right position adjustment of the first support bracket 21 and the first mounting bracket 31 can be easily adjusted, further improving ease of installation.

Furthermore, in the mirror device 10, the first receiving bracket 21 opens upward, and the first mounting bracket 31 engages with the first receiving bracket 21 from above. This allows the mirror body 12 to be mounted to the mounting surface WS from above, further improving ease of installation.

Furthermore, in the mirror device 10, when the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on the second support bracket 22, a vertical gap GP is provided between the first mounting bracket 31 and the first support bracket 21. This prevents the first mounting bracket 31 from coming into contact with the first support bracket 21 and prevents a gap from forming between the second support bracket 22 and the second mounting bracket 32. Therefore, the bathroom mirror 16 can be fixed more appropriately. In addition, by providing a gap GP between the first mounting bracket 31 and the first support bracket 21, the frictional resistance between the first mounting bracket 31 and the first support bracket 21 can be reduced. For example, after placing the second mounting bracket 32 on the second support bracket 22, it becomes easier to adjust the left-right position of the mirror body 12. Furthermore, by providing a gap GP between the first mounting bracket 31 and the first receiving bracket 21, for example, when multiple instances of at least one of the first receiving bracket 21 and the first mounting bracket 31 are provided, the gap GP can absorb positional errors in the height direction of the multiple members.

Figure 6 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing a modified example of the mirror device according to the embodiment.
For components that are substantially the same in function and configuration as those in the above embodiments, the same reference numerals are used, and detailed explanations are omitted.
As shown in Figure 6, the second mounting bracket 32 may be attached to the frame 14 such that the bottom surface of the second mounting bracket 32 is substantially flush with the lower end of the frame 14 (side plate 40). The lower end 22b of the second support bracket 22 may be located slightly below the lower end 16b of the washbasin mirror 16. The lower end 22b of the second support bracket 22 may be located slightly below the lower end of the frame 14. For example, the lower end 22b may be positioned below the lower end 16b of the washbasin mirror 16 by about the thickness of the plate-shaped second support bracket 22.

Even in such cases, by positioning the front end 22f of the second support 22 behind the bathroom mirror 16 when the second mounting bracket 32 is placed on the second support 22, the second support 22 and the fixing member 35 can be made difficult for the user to see. This allows for a high level of aesthetic appeal in the mirror device 10.

Embodiments of the present invention have been described above. However, the present invention is not limited to these descriptions.
