Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible measurement of various phenomena in breakdown process with high accuracy and in a short time by providing plural counter electrodes in breakdown testing of insulation materials.
CONSTITUTION: The tester is provided with an electrode support part 20 of cylindrical shape which is disposed with a plurality of counter electrodes 2A thru 2F by leaving an equal spacing in the circumferential direction, a rotating machine 18 which drives the support part 20 in the fixed direction at a rotating speed of one turn per 30 seconds, a brush 24 which supplies constant power condition in parallel and continuously between a plurality of the counter electrodes 2 and current breakers 21 whose breaking current ratings for stepwise detecting the track currents flowing between a plurality of the counter electrodes 2 differ stepwise and which are counted respectively in series to the counter electrodes 2 in a fixed order. In the tracking resistance testing of samples 1, various phenomena accompanied with the track breakdown are separated and measured while parallel tests of a number of the same samples are being carried out.
