Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the peripheral length of a photosensitive belt, reduce copying cycle and increase the number of copy sheets per unit time by distributively disposing a developing device and transfer device on both sides of the photosensitive belt.
CONSTITUTION: The peripheral length LB of a photosensitive belt 12 is the length adding the lengths L1, L2 of the maximum original O to be copied and the lengths L3, L4 of both side portions of the belt 12. A developing device 21 provided with a sleeve 21a and a charger 22 as a transfer device are distributively disposed on the respective regions of the non-image-forming lengthn L3 and L4. The electrostatic latent images formed in the region of the L1 length are visualized by turning the belt 12 by 1/2LB. At the standby time of said visible images, the next latent images are formed in the region of the L2 length, after which the belt 12 is turned by 1/2LB to visualize the next latent images and the visible images in the standby are transferred to a copying sheet.
