Abstract
PURPOSE: A plurality of specific metal compounds and a phosphorus compound are added to an esterification product from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol and the polycondensation reaction is effected, thus producing said polyester with good electrostatic pinning.
CONSTITUTION: Dicarboxylic acids mainly containing terephthalic acid and glycols mainly containing ethylene glycol are fed to bis (β-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate and its oligomers and the esterification reaction is effected. Then, (a) compounds of magnesium or manganess soluble in ethylene glycol, (b) sodium or potassium hydrogenphosphite or hydrogenphosphate or hydrogenpyrophosphate and (c) phosphoric and phosphorous acids and/or their esters are added to the product and the polycondensation reaction is effected. The amounts of the components satisfy the equations of IWIII (M, A, and P are the gram-atom numbers of metals consisting of components a, b, and c).
