PURPOSE:A white cosmetic having improved storage stability, absorbing capacity of the skin, whitening and anti-sunburn effects free from side effects undesirable to the human body, comprising quercetin as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A white cosmetic comprising 0.01-10wt% of a quercetin shown by the formula as an active ingredient. Exhibiting extremely controlling action of melanin formation, antioxidant action, ultraviolet light absorbing capacity, etc., quencetin has improved whitening and anti-sunburn effects. Because of the stability to pH, light, heat, etc. the cosmetic has improved keeping quality, and its oil solubility enables it to dissoble easily in an oil loyer, e.g., cream and to exhibit absorbing capacity of the skin. Quercetin is quite harmless to the human body and all the cosmetic raw materials have been available conventionally can be used directly.
