Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent stepwise breakdown of a layer to be dyed and occurrence of crack thereat and separation of filter components in a color image pickup element by forming a transparent film to bury the recesses on a light receiving surface and superimposing color filters thereon. CONSTITUTION:A transparent polyimide resin film 10 is rotatably coated on the light receiving surface of a solid image pickup element 4 to sufficiently alleviate the stepwise breakdown thereof. Then, dyeing gelatin layer 5 is selectively formed, is dipped in a green dyeing solution to form a green filter component 6G. Subsequently, a transparent isolation layer 7 is coated thereon, dyeing gelatin layer 5 is selectively formed, and is dipped in a red dyeing solution to form a red filter component 6R. Similarly, a blue filter component 6B is formed through the isolation layer 7, and the surface except the light receiving portion is shielded from light by aluminum or the like. This configuration can eliminate the stepwise breakdown and the the crack of the layer 5 to be dyed to eliminate the separation of the filter components. It does not make direct contact of the device with the layer 5 to avoid the adverse affect thereto. The layer 5 is exactly isolated to produce no mixed color.
