Abstract
PURPOSE:To lessen erroneous reads of a character segmenting device by segmenting a character according to the angle of its calligraphic style through detecting said angle. CONSTITUTION:Character patterns entered on the surface of forms are converted photoelectrically by a photoelectric conversion part 1 to store the same in the 1st line buffer 2 as one line. One line of those stored character patterns is supplied to an angle converting circuit 3, which executes the angle converting of character patterns quantized into a lattice shape by a slanting straight line. Those converted character pattern are stored in the 2nd line buffer 4, and projection images of projections in the vertical direction are stored in a projection register 5. The number of unit block of this projection images is detected by a blank detecting circuit 6, and from the number of the block, an average blank-length calculating circuit 7 calculates the average blank-length, which is supplied to a control circuit 8. The average blank- length of a projection angle at this time is compared with that stored in a maximum value register 9 to control a segmenting circuit 10 according to the angle of the calligraphic style, thereby reducing erroneous reads of the character segmenting device.
