Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、フッ化物ゲルやその他の歯科用薬物を歯へ局
処的に適用するためのトレーであって、上下いずれかの
歯列とその近くの歯根膜組織を取り囲むマウスピースと
して日中に挿入し、１回限りで廃棄しうるアプリケータ
トレーに関するものである。
このトレーの形態は、患者の日中に快適且つ自然に嵌合
することに加えて、薬物をよりよく保持し歯の表面へ十
分に適用できるように、また薬物が唾液により汚染され
たり希釈されたりしないようにするため、近接の歯ぐき
組織と比較的密な密封状態を生じるものである。
従来のやり方は、フッ化物ゲルその他の歯科用薬物を歯
へ局処的に適用するためには、再使用可能なトレーを使
用していたが、これはビニルプラスチック材料から形成
された平面アーチ形で断面Ｕ字形のマウスピースであっ
て、上下いずれかの歯列にゆるく嵌合するような両端の
開いた内凹部を形成されている。
使用されるビニル材料は比較的可撓性がないので、アプ
リケータトレーとしては剛性の高いものとなり、近接す
る歯根膜組織へぴったり密封状態になることを妨げる。
さらに、従来のビニル製トレーは規則的断面形状を有し
、滑らかな表面仕上げであるから、マウスピース内に歯
をしつかり坐らせるのを妨げる。
その結果トレーは患者の日中でグラグラして滑りやすく
、薬物を消失させたり唾液で汚染したりし、また歯の表
面と薬物の接触を弱めたりする。
さらに、従来のアプリケータトレーの製作に利用された
ビニル材料は比較的高価であるから、１回使用限りで廃
棄するのは勿体ない。
価格に見合うようにするためには、トレーを何回も使用
しなければならず、そのためには消毒液に漬け、ついで
乾燥することにより冷間殺菌工程を必要とした。
さらに、使用されるビニル材料が硬いので、従来のトレ
ーは患者の歯の形の変差に適応することができない。
多くの状況で、この非可撓性は日中での不快な嵌合の原
因となり、その上トレーの縁部と歯及び歯ぐきとの間に
大きなギャップができるので、唾液と薬物が混ざり、薬
物が希釈したり流失したりするので歯科治療の効果を損
なうことが多い。
本発明は、これらの欠陥を解消するために、１回限りで
廃棄することができる。
フッ化物ゲルその他の薬物の局処的適用のためのアプリ
ケータトレーを提供するもので、これは改良された形態
と安価な構造をもち、歯科治療の効果と経済性を促進す
るものである。
本発明のトレーは可撓性のある重合体フオーム材料から
形成され、個々の患者の口及び歯の解剖学的形状に容易
に適合するようになっているので、トレーの縁部及び側
部と近接する歯根膜組織及び歯との間に比較的ぴったり
した密封状態を作るようになっている。
こうしてトレーは動かない〜ようにしつかり保持され、
フッ化物その他の薬物や流失やのみ込み作用によってほ
とんど失なわれないようにし、薬物の唾液による汚染や
希釈をほとんどないようにしている。
アーチ形トレー内に形成されたＵ字形断面の内凹部ばそ
の底面と側壁に沿って日中の歯の形に解剖学的に一致す
る凹みを形づくられている。
こうして快適で自然なトレーの嵌合が得られるので、患
者の口を塞いで物が言えなくなるようなことはなく、さ
らに大切なことはフッ化物その他の薬物と歯の表面の十
分な接触が実現されるのである。
図面を参照して本発明の実施態様について説明すれば、
第１図及び第２図において本発明のトレーは、上下歯列
に嵌合するよう解剖学的に形状づけられたアーチ形マウ
スピース１０の形をしており、はゾＵ字形断面のみぞ形
内凹部１２を形成されている。
内凹部１２は全長にわたり側壁１３を有し、その上部は
周縁１４で終っている。
内凹部１２の基部は、典型的な口の歯列の形に合致する
よう解剖学的に形状づけられた多数の凹み１６を形成さ
れており、側壁１３の内表面も同様に形状づけられてい
る。
即ち、内凹部基部の凹み１６は歯の噛み合せ縁部と位置
及び形状において一致すするよう形状づけられ、側壁１
３の凹み１７も同様に歯の垂直面に対応するようにされ
ている。
本発明のトレーは、一体的部片であり、所望形状に容易
に成型可能な可撓性、非ハイドロトロピー性細泡状重合
体フオーム材料から構成され、比較的安価な構造を有し
ているので、１回使用限りで廃棄しても文体なくはない
。
この目的に特に適当と認められた１つの材料は、気泡寸
法２−３ミル、密度１．６− 積、２４時間）、引張り強さ４０ ｐｓｉ、弾性度２２
７５（破損されるまでの延び率で測定）の交す結合ポリ
エチレンフオームである。
（これは米国ハキュルズ・インコーホレイテッドの子会
社ハヴッグ・インダストリーズ・インコーホレイテッド
より商標ＭＩＮＩＣＥＬ Ｌ−２００で市販されている
。
）この材料は、シート形状から真空ダイ・フォーミング
により解剖学的形状のマウスピースに容易に成型可能で
あると認められた。
また、この材料は、日中のブリッジ、プレースの存在や
異形状による個人的歯形状の変差に対応するように所望
により容易に切断しうるものである。
従来のトレー材料と異なり、上記ＭＩＮＩＣＥＬ Ｌ−
２００フオームのきわめて細かい気泡構造は、その低い
吸水性により示されるように、実質的に非ハイドロトロ
ピー性であるから、トレー内のフッ化物ゲルやその他の
薬物の唾液による汚染は遅くなりうる。
従来のビニルトレーの硬さと異なり、上記の好適なフオ
ーム材料の使用によりアプリケータトレーに与えられる
しなやかさは、トレーを個人の日中の歯夕１」の形や近
接する歯ぐき組織に容易に合致しやすくするものである
。
こうして第３図、第４図に示すように（ここでは明瞭に
するためトレー内面と歯の外面の間の隙間を誇張して描
いである）トレー１０はフッ化物ゲルのような薬物１８
を前歯１９ａ及び奥歯１９ｂの露出面に適用している所
が示されている。
普通に口をつぐんで歯の噛み合せ縁部をトレー内凹部に
合致させると、側壁の周縁１４は内側へ曲げられて近く
の歯根膜組織２０の表面に接触し、外側は唇側の粘膜２
２の圧で保持されるから、アプリケータトレーと歯ぐき
及び歯の表面とのぴったりした係合が促進され、前述し
たような効果が生ずる。
本発明のトレーは、運動選手の歯を保護するため、１回
又は限られた使用の後に廃棄しても勿体なくない安全マ
ウスピースとしての用途もある。
解剖学的形状により得られる自然の法的な嵌合に加えて
、ＭＩＮＩＣＥＬ Ｌ−２００材料の圧縮強さく ３ｐ
ｓｉで１０％撓み、１４ｐｓｉで５０％撓み）が厳しい
衝撃の連続に対し歯を守るからである。

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. １ フッ化物ゲルその他の歯科用薬物をｉへ局所的に適
    用するためのアプリケータトレーであって、平面におい
    てはアーチ形のマウスピースの形をし、断面はほぼＵ字
    形のみぞ形内凹部を有し、上下いずれかの歯列にぴった
    り嵌まるように形状づけられているトレーが、可撓性が
    あり非ハイドロトロヒー性の細かい気泡状重合体フオー
    ムから成る一体的成型品であり、前記Ｕ字形みぞを形成
    している内凹部の底面および側壁面は成型時に歯列の形
    に逆形に合うような解剖学的な凹みをつけられ、前記ト
    レー壁の周縁は厚いフランジ部に形成され、そのためト
    レーは口を塞がない快適な嵌合をするようにされており
    、前記底面及び側壁面は歯の表面に近接しており、トレ
    ー壁の前記フランジ状周縁は歯を噛み合わせることによ
    って歯根膜組織に接触するよう曲げられ、従って比較的
    密封が得られ唾液によりトレー内の薬物が汚染希釈され
    るのを防止したことを特徴とする歯科用アプリケータト
    レー。
