Conventional devices of this type have been used in such a manner that the size of the variable electrode is the same as or slightly larger than that of the fixed electrode, and the fixed electrode is completely masked in a complete suction state. An object of the present invention is to provide an electrostatic display device that displays a predetermined shape in a sucking state by changing the shape or the mounting position of a variable electrode with respect to a fixed electrode.

以下、本発明の実施例を図面とともに説明する。Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

The surrounding member 11 is made of a dielectric material such as an aluminum plate, and has an overall groove shape that is bent from the bottom surface 12 in the display direction, that is, forward, to form left and right side parts 13 and 14. Then, both sides are at point BB' and point C, respectively.
It is bent at point C' to form a convex ridge line on the inner surface at point BB'. In the bottom of this groove-shaped outer member 11, between the lower clamping member 15 and the upper clamping part village 16, there is a polymeric material sheet with a thickness of about 8 microns, which has dielectric properties such as aluminum on both sides. The central support part of the variable electrode 17 made of vapor-deposited metal material with high light reflectance is held between the movable parts 18 and 19 on both the left and right wings of the variable electrode 17, which are curved in an arc and extend forward. A cylindrical fixed electrode 20 made of a conductive material such as aluminum is attached to the front of the upper holding member 16.
A desired coating film 21 of red, green, yellow, etc. is previously formed on the surface of the fixed electrode 20, and this constitutes an electrolyte layer interposed between the electrodes.

A lead wire is led out from the cylindrical hollow part of the fixed electrode 20 via, for example, a hairpin-shaped pocket piece, and also lead wires are led out from either or both of the upper and lower holding members 15 and 16. The lead wire is connected to the control power source via a switch in the same way as the slave. In such a configuration, in the display state in the return state, the entire display surface of the fixed electrode 20 appears and a single rectangle is displayed, and the side shape of the variable electrode movable parts 18 and 19 at that time is at point BB'. On the ridge of the outer sphere member,
It contacts the surface of the fixed electrode at point EE', expands slightly toward the end, and contacts the inner wall surface of the surrounding member at point D.

Next, when a voltage is applied between the two electrodes, the movable parts 18 and 19 of the variable electrode are attracted to the fixed electrode 20 by electrostatic force and wound around the cylindrical surface. FIG. 2 shows a front view in this suction state.

The length a in the axial direction of the variable electrodes 18 and 19 is extremely short, approximately 1/3 of the length b in the transverse direction of the fixed electrode 20, and the pair of variable electrodes 18 and 19 are both provided only in the center of the fixed electrode. Moreover, the length in the circumferential direction is formed to be short so as to have a clear gap J between both ends. Therefore, when the axis is arranged vertically, a 1-shape is displayed, and when the axis is arranged horizontally, an H-shape is displayed. FIG. 3 shows a front view of another embodiment of the present invention in a suction state.

This is configured such that a cutout window K of a predetermined shape is formed in the center of the variable electrodes 18A, 19A, and the surface of the fixed electrode is exposed only at the cutout window K in the suction state. It goes without saying that the present invention can be used in combination with a display state in which characters and graphics are displayed in advance on the display surface of a fixed electrode or a variable electrode.

As is clear from the above description, the present invention allows a portion of the fixed electrode to display a predetermined shape when the variable electrode in the electrostatic display device is in a fully attracted state. It is possible to create a display effect.
