水ポンプ(図示せず)により冷却水管5内を圧送され冷
却室4内に導入された冷却水は該冷却室4内を第1図矢
印のように流れてシリンダライナ2を冷却した後連絡孔
6を経てシリンダヘッド3内に流入する。 かかる内燃
機関においては、冷却水中に混入した異物が冷却室4の
下部に沈澱、堆積し、またシリンダライナ2の外周面に
付着することにより、シリンダライナ2の冷却が不充分
となりこのためピストンの焼付き、ピストンリングの膠
着等が発生するという不具合があつた。

せしめられて該貯液室7の底部に貯まる。また上記異物
は冷却水が偏向板8の下面に衝突せしめられる際並びに
上記絞り通路10を通ることにより偏向せしめられる際
にも冷却水中より分離して沈澱せしめられる。従つて、
従来のものに較べ、冷却室4内に運ばれる異物の量は著
しく少なくなる。
