Description
本発明は含水率の高い木材用接着剤組成物に関
する。
原木を始め木材は有限の資源であり、年々その
資源は減少しており、これらの資源の有効利用お
よび製品の歩留り向上は不可欠の要件となつてお
り、かかる観点より含水率の高い木材用接着剤の
要求は非常に大きいものがある。
従来、木材用接着剤としては、尿素−ホルマリ
ン樹脂系、メラニン樹脂系、フエノール樹脂系お
よびウレタン樹脂系等が多く用いられている。尿
素−ホルマリン樹脂系、メラニン樹脂系およびフ
エノール樹脂系の接着剤は、熱硬化性であるため
接着力および耐水性が良好である反面、加熱を必
要とし、ホルマリンが接着後も残存し、臭気、環
境等の安定衛生上好ましくない。さらに、含水率
の高い木材への接着力が非常に弱い。また、ウレ
タン樹脂系の接着剤に関しては、特公昭31−2691
号、特公昭31−8888号、特公昭31−9586号、特公
昭32−35号、特開昭49−30429号、特開昭49−
75704号、特開昭49−86506号、特開昭49−118807
号、特開昭49−118808号、特開昭49−118805号等
の公報明細書に特性および組成物が詳述されてい
る。
これらのウレタン樹脂は、分子末端にイソシア
ネート基を有しており、アルコール性水酸基を有
する木材とは一次化学結合を形成するため、その
接着力はきわめてすぐれている。
しかしながら、含水率の高い木材へ使用した場
合、発泡が生じ、接着部へののり付けも悪く、さ
らに接着力も悪く、強度的に劣化が生じ、接着剤
として用をなさない。
本発明者は、上記欠点を改良するため鋭意研究
を重ねた結果、本発明を提供するにいたつたもの
である。すなわち、50〜90%のエチレンオキシド
含有アルキレンオキシドをランダム付加重合させ
た分子量3000〜9000のポリオキシアルキレントラ
イオールと有機ポリイソシアネートを、NCO/
OH当量比2〜8で反応させた末端イソシアネー
ト基含有ウレタン樹脂、または該ウレタン樹脂に
必要に応じて不活性溶剤を配合したものであるこ
とを特徴とする含水率の高い木材用接着剤組成物
である。
本発明に用いる含水率の高い木材用接着剤組成
物、すなてち、ウレタン樹脂はポリオール成分に
特殊な親水性ポリオキシアルキレントライオール
を用いるものである。特殊な親水性ポリオキアル
キレントライオールとは、活性水素基3個を有す
る出発原料、例えば、グリセリン等にアルキレン
オキシド(ただし、エチレンオキシドを50〜90%
を含む)をランダム付加重合させた分子量3000〜
9000のポリオキシアルキレントライオールであ
る。水酸基数について言えば、1個の場合、接着
強度および耐水性が悪い。2個の場合、作業性は
良いが、ウキ等が発生し好ましくない。また、
4,6および8個の場合、有機ポリイソシアネー
トとの反応が非常に早く、かつ、架橋反応形式と
なり、増粘もしくはゲル化現象が生じ、工業生産
が困難となり、たとえウレタン樹脂が得られたと
しても、含水率の高い木材の湿潤面での可使時間
が短く、塗布作業中に硬化し、被着体へ十分浸透
しない。ポリオキシアルキレントライオール中の
エチレンオキシド量について、50%未満の場合、
含水率の高い木材の湿潤面における水分とのなじ
みが不良で、スライス歩留りも悪い。また90%を
超えた場合、ポリオキシアルキレントライオール
の凝固点および粘性が非常に高くなり、工業生産
において精製ろ過工程にトラブルが生じ生産が事
実上不可能である。
ポリオキシアルキレントライオールと反応させ
る有機ポリイソシアネートは、トルエンジイソシ
アネート(2,4/2,6異性体比80/20),
4,4もしくはポリジフエニルメタンジイソシア
ネート、ナフタレンジイソシアネート、キシレン
ジイソシアネート、ヘキサメチレンジイソシアネ
ート、イソホロンジイソシアネート等で使用に際
してはそれらを単独もしくは併用する。
ポリオキシアルキレントライオールと有機ポリ
イソシアネートとの反応比率はNCO/OH当量比
2〜8で、2未満の場合、ウレタン樹脂の粘性が
高くなり、貯蔵安定性も悪い。
一方、8を超えた場合、含水率の高い木材の接
着時において発泡が生じ、粘着強度も悪い。さら
に、トルエンジイソシアネートを有機ポリイソシ
アネート成分として用いた場合、遊離トルエンジ
イソシアネート量が多く、作業環境上好ましくな
い。
作業性を向上するために、これらのウレタン樹
脂に活性水素基を有しない不活性溶剤を加ええる
のが好ましい。不活性溶剤は、メチルエチルケト
ン、キシレン、トルエン、1.1.1トルクロエチ
ン、ジオキサン等であり、添加量は5〜30%が好
ましい。
本発明の含水率の高い木材とは、高含水率の原
木または高含水率の木材等であり、具体的な接着
応用例としては、湿潤状態のラワン材にに合板に
樺、桐、紫檀、黒檀等の高級原木の1mm以下のス
ライス板を接着させるつき板合板表装材の製造、
合板用原木短尺材の接着、合板用原木のクラツク
部充填接着、楢材等の銘木フリツチの接着等であ
り、接着後ロータリレース切削もしくは鋭利な刃
物によるスライスまたはそれらの再接着等を経
て、加熱乾燥と表装材もしくは合板として仕上げ
るものである。
実際には、その加工中に人為的に水中、温水中
に浸漬して切削加工性を向上させたり、加熱乾燥
することが行われるのであり、接着面でのずれの
力に耐える接着性、すなわち、圧縮剪断強度なら
びに耐水性が要求される。本発明の接着剤組成物
は圧縮剪断強度(ASTMD905−49)が15.0Kg/
cm2以上であり、かつ、煮沸によりウキ発生も認め
られない。よつて、それらの要求を十分満足させ
るものである。
本発明のウレタン樹脂は、上記の含水率の高い
木材の接着応用において要求される要件、すなわ
ち、
(1) 湿潤面、特に含水率の高い木材に対する接着
性に優れている。
(2) 水とのなじみが良好で、かつ、硬化時に発泡
現象が生じない。
(3) 耐水性に優れ、接着後煮沸しても膨潤および
はくり現象が生じない。
(4) 硬化物が可撓性を有し、ロータリレースおよ
びスライス加工が容易で切削刃を破損しない。
(5) 耐熱性に優れ、加熱乾燥時の物性劣性が生じ
ない。
(6) 一液性で作業性に優れている。

以下本発明を実施例をかかげて説明する。ただ
し、実施例中部および%は重量基準である。
実施例
(1) ウレタン樹脂の製造法
温度計、撹拌装置をとりつけた1容量の四
ツ口フラスコに各種のポリオキシアルキレンポ
リオールを所定量加え、窒素ガス気流中で温度
120℃〜130℃に昇温と、60分脱水する。
つぎに内容物温度を80〜120℃に、有機ポリ
イソシアネートを3〜5分間で滴下し、80℃〜
120℃で1〜2時間反応させる。つぎに温度が
60℃まで冷却し、不活性溶剤を配合し、30分間
混合後、40℃まで冷却し、容器にとり出して密
封して保管する。
(2) (1)項で得られた各種ウレタン樹脂の作業性、
木材に対する接着性およびスライス歩留りを評
価した。
それらの結果を第1表に示す。

Examples of the inert solvent include methyl ethyl ketone, xylene, toluene, 1.1.1 torque chlorotin, dioxane, etc., and the amount added is preferably 5 to 30%. The wood with a high moisture content in the present invention refers to raw wood with a high moisture content or wood with a high moisture content. (5) It has excellent heat resistance and does not suffer from inferior physical properties during heat drying. (6) It is one-component and has excellent workability.
