り、船外機の取扱い上支障をきたしたり船外機内
の他部材の機能へ悪影響を及ぼすこととなり、一
方上記高温による悪影響を阻止するため触媒部を
直接冷却することは、エンジン性能を低下させる
と共に触媒機能を低下させることになる。

るいは種々内蔵部品の機能障害、変形等の熱害が

合、排気管4内周面に付着した水が排気管4内を

断熱層11の外周に設けた冷却帯12とで構成さ
れている。本実施例においては、排気管4に大径
部4aを形成し、該大径部7aに冷却帯たる冷却
水通路12をウオータージヤケツト型に形成して
ある。上記排気管大径部4a内側即ち冷却水通路
12の内側には内筒11a,外筒11bおよび両
筒11a,11b内に充填した断熱材11cとで
形成した断熱層11を配置し、該断熱層11自体
を排気ガス通路構成部材とし、かつその内筒11
a内部に触媒7を保持させてある。上記冷却水通
路12にはウオーターポンプ10から導水管13
を通つて矢印Bの如く未使用の冷却水を供給し、
使用後の冷却水は他部材の冷却に使用することな
く排水管14を通つて矢印Cの如くハウジング8
から船外機外に排出するように構成してある。上
記導水管13はシリンダー部に冷却水を供給する
導水管15から分岐させてある。16は緩衝材、
17は下蓋、18はガスケツト、19は導水管保
持シール、20はドライブシヤフトである。

5との間には断熱層11を形成してあるので、冷
却水通路12の冷却効果は排気ガス通路5および
触媒7には及ばず、従つて排気ガス通路5および
触媒7は高温に維持され、エンジン性能や触媒機
能の低下をきたす恐れがない。また、冷却水通路
12にウオーターポンプ10から直接未使用の冷
却水を供給することにより充分な冷却効果を得る
ことができ、熱交換後の冷却水を他部材の冷却等
に使用することなく直接ハウジング8から船外機
外へ、しかも目視出来る様に排出することによ
り、排出される冷却水の有無、その排出状態等か
らウオーターポンプの異常、オーバーヒートある
いは触媒7が有効に機能しているかどうか(排出
冷却水の温度が低い場合触媒が有効に機能してい
ないことになる)等を確認することができる。さ
らに、冷却水通路12をウオータージヤケツト型
に形成することにより、遮音効果が発揮され、船
外機のノイズダウンに寄与することができる。
