DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides an optical character reader (OCR);
When reading characters printed on a paper surface using an optical character reader, the sheet is placed on the paper surface, and the area of the characters to be read is transparent or semi-transparent, and the rest of the sheet is entirely or partially opaque.

OCR shines light on characters printed on paper (for example, a slip), receives the reflected light, converts the light into electricity, converts it into an electrical signal, processes it, and finds out what the original character is. However, conventionally this
Because the area for characters to be read by OCR and the area for non-reading were distinguished and separated, there were constraints on the document design, and the disadvantage was that the document became larger. In addition, with a device (hand scan OCR) that reads while holding the OCR scanner part in the hand and moving the scanner, it is possible to scan the area to be read on a document where areas of characters that should be read and areas of characters that cannot be read are mixed. It became very troublesome as it was necessary to move Sukiyana while searching.

Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an optical reading sheet that overcomes the above-mentioned conventional drawbacks. That is, in the present invention, a sheet with transparent or semi-transparent parts corresponding to the area of characters to be read on the slip is placed on top of the slip to be read by OCR, and only the characters that appear through the sheet are OCR-read.
This eliminates the need to search for the characters to be read on the slip as in the conventional method.

FIG. 1 shows a slip 1 in which an area 2 of characters to be read and an area 3 of characters not to be read coexist. FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of the optically readable sheet 4 of the present invention, in which a portion 6 corresponding to the character area 2 to be read on the slip is transparent or semitransparent, and the other portion 5 is opaque. It's getting old. FIG. 3 shows a case where the sheet of the present invention shown in FIG. 2 is actually used. When the sheet of the present invention is placed on the slip 1, the portion 6 corresponding to the area 2 of the characters to be read is transparent or semi-transparent, so that only the characters to be read appear through the sheet. Therefore, by moving the scanner 7 over the characters that appear, the operator 8 can easily read only the characters that should be read from a slip containing a mixture of characters that should be read and those that should not be read.

このように伝票上に読取るべき文字のエリアと

In this way, even if there is an area of characters that should be read and an area of characters that cannot be read on a slip, it is possible to reliably read only the characters that should be read, making it easier to design the slip and reducing the size of the slip. can do.

As described above, by using the sheet of the present invention together with OCR, there is no need to search for areas to be read as in the past, so processing can be performed easily and quickly, and furthermore, there is no need to separate areas to be read and areas not to be read. There is no fear of accidentally reading characters in areas that should not be read.

Note that if the opaque portion 5 of the sheet is made of a color that is not detected by OCR (drop-out color), the influence of noise such as dirt can be reduced.
