When painting part of the surface of a cylinder block or other object by spraying paint with a spray gun, it is necessary to mask the top surface of the object to prevent the paint from adhering to the inner surface of the cylinder, etc. be. For this reason, conventional painting equipment for cylinder blocks is equipped with a fixed or movable masking plate, but paint may gradually adhere to the surface of the masking plate, reducing the masking effect, or In order to prevent the adhered paint from dripping onto the inner surface of the object to be painted, the paint must often be manually removed from the surface of the masking plate, making the painting process complicated.

1 is a conveyance path equipped with a roller conveyor for conveying cylinder blocks and other objects to be coated 2;
The object 2 to be coated is fed onto a roller conveyor at the left end in FIG. A first stopper 5 and a second stopper 6 are provided below the roller conveyor and are operated by cylinders 3 and 4, respectively, and the first stopper 5 stops the workpiece 2 traveling on the roller conveyor. After that, the object 2 to be coated is lifted by the lifting device 7 to a coating station 8 provided at a required location on the conveyance path 1, while the second stopper 6 is used to stop the subsequent coating process until the coating process described below is completed. It has the role of preventing the progress of the object 2 to be coated. The painting station 8 also includes fixed side masking plates 9 and 10 for masking required areas on the side surfaces of the object to be painted 2.
and a movable masking plate 11 for masking the upper surface of the object to be coated 2. The masking plate 11 for masking the upper surface is swingable about a pin 13 on a vertical beam attached to the upper machine frame 12. Supported. The masking plate 11 has a crank arm 14 extending rearward, and the tip of a piston rod 16 of a cylinder 15 fixed to the upper machine frame 12 is attached to the tip of the crank arm 14 with a pin. 2 to the painting station 8, this cylinder 15 is actuated to pull up the piston rod 16 and pivot the masking plate 11 downward as shown in FIG.
The masking plate 11 assumes a posture for masking the upper surface of the object 2 to be coated, for example, a horizontal posture in close contact with the upper surface. Note that in order to improve the masking effect, it is preferable to attach an elastic material or the like to the lower surface of the masking plate 11. In this state, paint is sprayed from an appropriate number of spray guns 17 installed in the painting station 8 to coat the surface of the object 2 to be coated, and after continuing to spray the paint from the spray guns 17 for a certain period of time, the spraying stops. do. At the same time, the cylinder 15 pushes down the piston rod 16, the masking plate 11 pivots upward as shown by the chain line in FIG. Object 2 is lowered onto the roller conveyor. Then, the first stopper 5 and the second stopper 6 are lowered to send out the object to be coated 2 that has been coated and to receive the next object to be coated. In this way, the objects 2 to be coated are sent sequentially on the conveyance path 1 in a constant cycle.
However, in the present invention, a means is provided for removing paint adhering to the sides of the masking plate 11 using the non-painting time. This means, as shown in Figure 2,
Wipers 18, 18 are provided on both sides of the masking plate 11 in an upright position, and these wipers 18, 18 are connected to brackets 19, 19, respectively.
These brackets 19,
19 is maintained horizontally by guides 20, 20 and is driven by cylinders 21, 21 to move up and down. These guides 20, 20 and cylinder 2
1 and 21 are attached to slide plates 22 and 22 that can slide on the upper surface of the upper machine frame 12, and these slide plates 22 and 22 are connected to piston rods of cylinders 23 and 23 attached to the upper machine frame 12. ing. Therefore, by operating the cylinders 23, 23, the wipers 18, 18 attached to the brackets 19, 19 can be moved forward or backward in the horizontal direction. When the spraying is finished and the masking plate 11 assumes the upright position, the cylinder 21,
21, the wipers 18, 18 start descending while contacting the surface of the masking plate 11.
The wipers 18, 18 have a substantially U-shaped horizontal section and are designed to contact both side surfaces of the masking plate 11 at the same time, so as they descend, they adhere to the sides of the masking plate 11, that is, the side surfaces and side edges. The paint that was on it is being wiped off. wiper 1
When the wipers 8 and 18 descend below the masking plate 11, a large amount of paint adheres to the wipers 18 and 18. Therefore, the scraping member 24 for removing this is a fixed masking plate 9, 10.
It is provided on the upper edge of the paint receiving container 25 adjacent to the container 25 for receiving the paint. This container 25 is, for example, box-shaped with an open top, and as shown in FIG. 2, the lower surface of each wiper 18 comes into contact with a scraping member 24 on the upper edge of a fixed surface that constitutes a side wall of this container. position, and when the wiper 18 descends until it comes into contact with this scraping member 24, the cylinder 23 causes the wiper 18 to retreat in the horizontal direction. At this time, a large amount of paint adhering to the wiper 18 is removed by the scraping member 24 and enters the container 25, and the wiper 18 is cleaned and rises again, and then moves forward by the action of the cylinder 23. and prepare for the next cycle. It goes without saying that the operation of the wiper 18 described here must be started and completed while the masking plate 11 is in the upright position, that is, when not painting, and the masking plate 11 from which paint has been removed in this way is Object to be painted 2
Masking will be performed.

As is clear from the description of the above embodiments, the present invention has a coating station equipped with a pivotable masking plate which assumes a posture for masking the upper surface of the object to be coated when painting, but assumes an upright posture when not painting. , it is possible to paint the engine cylinder block and other objects to be painted while masking the upper surface thereof, and a wiper for the masking plate that descends while contacting the side of the masking plate in an upright position is provided. Therefore, the paint adhering to the sides of the masking plate during painting is scraped downward by the wiper before the next painting starts, reducing the masking effect due to paint adhesion or causing paint to get inside the object to be painted. Furthermore, when the wiper descends while contacting the surface of the masking plate, the paint adhering to it is removed by the scraping member. , the wiper is always clean and ready for the next cycle, and the masking plate is not contaminated by the wiper, so the masking plate is always kept clean and continuous automatic painting is possible. It can be done.
