本発明は高出力、高エネルギー密度、長寿命の

熱溶着を行なつていた。金属ケース7′は、湿り
状態のペーストを有する極板の被溶着部を熱溶着
する場合、被着部の溶着時多量に発生する蒸気を
排出するため金属ケース7′の周囲の一部にだけ
壁を設けていた。即ち、第3図に示す如く、極板
の両側部が接する箇所に壁部1′を設け、極板の
上、下部に接する箇所には壁部を設けず開放し、
ここより発生蒸気を排出していた。このため極板
の熱溶着工程は極板内部および極板外周部の両側
に位置する被溶着部を熱溶着する工程と、極板外
周部の上、下端に位置する被溶着部を熱溶着する
工程の2工程が必要であつた。また極板が湿り状
態のペーストを有する場合、被溶着部の溶着時多
量の蒸気が発生するので溶着不良を起す場合があ

ある樹脂体3とマツト体5とを熱溶着する。とこ
ろで湿りペーストを有する極板6の被溶着部を熱
溶着する場合は、熱溶着時多量の蒸気が発生す
る。従来該蒸気は金属ケース7′の周囲の壁の一
部を開放し、該開放部より排出していたが、本実
施例では、熱溶着装置に装備した上金型凹部8に
設けた蒸気排出用の複数個の小孔9より排出す
る。熱溶着後被溶着部が加熱により溶けている間
に熱溶着機上金型10を除去し、冷却プレス機に
