Abstract

The method provides for the heating of the said raw material in a reducing atmosphere at a temperature of 450 to 500`C during 30 to 60 minutes. Hydrogen or products of conversion of the natural gas or of fuel-oil may be used as reducing atmosphere. The thus burnt copper-containing product is then cooled at a rate of 2 to 4 degrees per minute and subjected to a magnetic separation. The magnetic separation is carried out in two stages, ferrous sulphides being first extracted under a magnetic field intensity of 1000 to 2000 oersteds and then copper sulphides are extracted under a magnetic field intensity of 4500 to 6000 oersteds.
