タンク内の水を加熱して給湯したり、或いは発
生した蒸気を暖房用や加熱、乾燥作業に利用する
ものがボイラーであり、本体の中に炉筒を貫通し
た炉筒ボイラーはボイラー胴内の検査や掃除が容
易な割には円筒型の炉筒は伝熱面積が小さく、効
率が悪いもので、本体内に多数の煙管を配設した
煙管ボイラーは伝熱面積が大きくて効率が良い割

ガスには抵抗が加わり通常の円筒型の炉筒に比
べ、燃焼筒1内での燃焼ガスの滞留時間が長くな
つて高温度に加熱され、燃焼筒1より貯留水へ伝
導する熱容量が増大すると共に、煙室8′内に設
けた排煙ダンパー14により煙管より煙突10へ
抜ける燃焼ガスを絞りながら煙管9,9′内の燃
焼ガスの滞留時間を調整することにより、煙管
9,9′による伝熱容量も増大してボイラー効率
が飛躍的に向上し、数十%の燃料を節約し得るも
