【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は貴石、ガラス、セラミツク等の非導電
体からなる時計用文字板基板に、金属をメツキし
てなる時計用文字板の製造方法に関する。

貴石等を主体とした文字板は従来から作られて
いる。第1図の斜視図に従来の代表的な例を示
す。虎目石等の貴石からなる文字板基板1は黄銅
製の裏板2に接着固定されている。裏板2は図示
はしないが一般に二本の足を有している。基板1
の上面には目盛3や文字4が印刷されている。こ
のような従来の文字板では、単なる印刷であるた
めに文字板等に金属的な輝きがなく、しかも印刷
工程では圧力がかかる為、貴石が割れ歩留が非常
に悪かつた。

属的な輝きのある盛り上つた文字や目盛、更には
模様を有した貴石等を主体とする文字板を実現す
ることであり、二次的な目的は特に貴石を基板と
する場合に歩留りを高めることである。

以下本発明を、図面を基に説明する。第2図
は、裏板を省略した断面図であり、貴石を用いた
基板1の上に第1の金属層5を形成させる。この
金属層5は、例えばクロムを真空蒸着することに
よつて容易に得られる。次に、前記金属層5の上
面に非導電性のレジスト膜6を、フオトレジスト
法等によつて形成させる。次に金属層5の端部等
から通電させ、レジスト膜6のない部分に盛り上
つた第2の金属層7を電気メツキにより形成させ
る。第2の金属層7は、金、ニツケル、ロジウ
ム、パラジウム等が良い。その後、レジスト膜6
を除去し、更に金属層5をエツチングして第3図
の如くなす。第2の金属層7はエツチング工程で
多少腐蝕される場合もあるが、第1の金属層5に
比較してはるかに厚い為、その影響は極めて少な
い。

膜のない部分に盛上つた第2の金属層をつくり、
その後にレジスト膜を剥離し、かつ第1の金属層
をエツチングすることを特徴とする時計文字板の
製造方法。 2 第1の金属層が、第2の金属層と異種の金属
層であることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項
に記載の時計用文字板の製造方法。
