本発明は多色感熱記録紙を用いた多色熱記録方

熱記録紙4を用いる場合には、低温発色層3側に
接触して配設した熱記録ヘツド5から印加する熱
エネルギーを可変して記録紙4を低温又は高温に
加熱することにより、発色層3のみを発色させた
り或いは発色層2,3を発色させて2色の熱記録
を行なつている。同図において、2a,3aは発
色部分である。しかしながら、このような記録方
式では、内部に位置する高温発色層2への加熱が
十分行なわれにくい上、単一の熱記録ヘツド5を
低温、高温の2段階に加熱できるように制御しな
ければならず、制御系が複雑になる欠点があつ

路9に接続されると共に、他端は桁単位にまとめ
られ共通リード線CH1〜CH16を介して桁選択駆
動回路10に接続されている。発熱素子GD1〜
GD80の一端は桁単位にまとめられてリード線
GCH1〜GCH16を介して色選択駆動回路1′1に
接続されると共に、その他端はリード線CCHを

選択的に発熱させて多色感熱記録紙4の表面に熱
エネルギーを加える。この熱記録ヘツド6の動作
は、発色させようとする色に関係なく文字画素を
印字する場合には常に行なわれる。そして、発色
させようとする色の指定は、裏面の熱バイアス用
熱記録ヘツド7のリード線GCH1〜GCH16に、そ
の桁の色指定情報に応じて駆動回路11から色選
択信号を印加して、発熱素子GD1〜GD80を桁単位
で選択的に発熱させることにより行なう。多色感
熱記録紙4の表面から熱記録ヘツド6で加熱し、
且つ裏面から熱記録ヘツド7で加熱することによ
り多色熱記録をすることができる。つまり、表面
の低温発色層3のみを発色させたい場合には、表
面の熱記録ヘツド6のみを駆動(実線で示す)
し、記録紙4を表面から低温で加熱する。この時
記録ヘツド7は駆動しない(破線で示す)。そし
て、内側の高温発色層2をも発色させたい場合に
は、表面の熱記録ヘツド6と裏面の熱バイアス用
熱記録ヘツド7を同時に駆動する(いずれも実線
で示す)。このことにより感熱記録紙4は表裏両
面から加熱されて高温となり、高温発色層2(お
よび低温発色層3)が発色し、低温発色層3のみ

温発色層を確実に発色させることができると共
に、制御系が簡略化される。尚、熱バイアス用記
録ヘツドは印加熱エネルギを可変するように常時

ヘツドと同時に駆動するようにしたので、両ヘツ
トの合成熱エネルギーが高温発色層に与えられる
ことにより、多色感熱記録紙の高温発色層への加
熱が表裏両面から十分に行なわれて鮮明な多色熱
記録を行なうことができる。さらに、高温発色層
を発色させる場合には、表面ヘツドに印加する電
圧と高温発色に必要な電圧との差に相当する電圧
をバイアスヘツドに印加すればよいので、各ヘツ
ドに印加する電圧は双方とも比較的低いものにす
ることができ、これにより各ヘツドの寿命を延ば
し得て装置の信頼性を高めることができる。ま
た、各発色とも同一位置に位置ずれ無く記録でき
るので、記録品質は非常に高い。又この熱バイア
ス用の熱記録ヘツドを発熱素子単位、桁単位、行
単位に制御することにより画素別、桁別に多色熱
記録が可能である。尚、本発明の多色熱記録方式
は複数枚の同時印字熱記録にも応用もできる。
又、それぞれの記録ヘツドを多段階に加熱できる
ように制御すれば、3色以上の記録がより容易に

を発色させる場合に前記表面熱記録ヘツドと同時
駆動される加熱バイアス用熱記録ヘツドとを具備
し、この加熱バイアス用熱記録ヘツドの同時駆動
により前記発色層に合成熱エネルギーを与えて高
温発色層を発色させ別色の熱記録を行なうことを
