In a recording device that scans and exposes a photoreceptor using a cathode ray tube or laser, or a recording device that creates a latent image on a dielectric material using a stylus, etc., images can be output from the same recording unit in copier, facsimile, printer, etc. modes. It is easy to use, and there is a combination of a copying machine and a facsimile machine disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 8285/1985. A problem in such a recording apparatus is the scanning speed of a recording medium such as a photoreceptor in the sub-scanning direction. Since image information transmission speeds differ among modes such as a copying machine, a facsimile machine, and a printer, conventionally, the sub-scanning speed is adjusted to the slowest of these modes. However, in this case, there is a loss in speed when in a mode that allows recording at a sub-scanning speed faster than the sub-scanning speed, and the performance cannot be fully demonstrated. Therefore, it is conceivable to change the speed of the recording medium to a speed suitable for each mode. However, in order to do this, it is necessary to change the transport speed of the transfer paper each time, which causes jams.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to improve the above-mentioned drawbacks and to provide a multi-mode recording apparatus that does not require changing the transfer speed of transfer paper and causes no loss in sub-scanning speed.

In this embodiment, the transport speed of the transfer paper and the speed of the belt-shaped recording medium at the transfer section are adjusted to the speed of the fastest recordable mode, and when the recording medium is in other modes, the latent image is formed at the transfer section. It is characterized in that a latent image is formed on a recording medium in a stop latent image forming section during formation, the images are once pooled in front of a developing section, and after the latent image is formed, development and transfer are performed at once. In this case, in the copying machine mode, the speed of the recording medium may be made variable in order to reduce or enlarge the image.

FIG. 2 is a time chart in the facsimile mode of this embodiment. In facsimile mode, it takes a long time to transmit image information due to the transmission line. When transmitting image information over a regular telephone line, it takes several tens of seconds to transmit the image information of an A4-sized document even if the image information is compressed. On the other hand, in the copier mode, it takes only a few seconds to send image information to the cathode ray tube 1. Therefore, when in facsimile mode, first engage the clutch 3 and use the motor 4 to drive the drive roller 5.
The drive roller 5 rotates the photoreceptor belt 2.
Rotate at a speed suitable for facsimile recording.
At this time, the photoreceptor belt 2 rotates at the above-mentioned speed at the latent image forming section, but as shown in the figure, the movement is absorbed by the spring-biased idle rollers 6 and 7, so that the developing section 8, Transfer section 9, cleaning section 10
It doesn't work at . That is, the photoreceptor belt 2 is stretched around the rollers 5 to 7, 11 to 14,
As the idler rollers 6 and 7 move upward, the movement of the photoreceptor belt 2 is absorbed, and the photoreceptor belt 2 is moved by the drive roller 5 only at the latent image forming area. The latent image forming section includes a charging device 15 and a cathode ray tube 1.
The photoreceptor belt 2 is uniformly charged by a charging device 15 and then exposed to light from the cathode ray tube 1 through the convergent light transmitter 16 to form a latent image. At this time, the cathode ray tube 1 scans and exposes the photoreceptor belt 2 with brightness modulation based on external image information. Thereafter, when the position sensor 17 detects that the idler roller 7 has risen to a predetermined position, it is detected that the photoreceptor belt 2 has moved by the recording size. When recording, it is detected that the photoreceptor belt 2 has moved by the length of A4 size paper, and the end of latent image formation is detected. Then, according to the output signal of the position sensor 17, the idler rollers 6 and 7 are
stops, the clutch 3 is disengaged, the clutch 18 is engaged, and the motor 4 rotates the drive roller 14. For this reason, the photosensitive belt 2 is driven by the driving roller 14 and moves as a whole at a speed suitable for copying machine recording, and the latent image is developed in the developing section 8. On the other hand, the conveyance roller 19 feeds out the transfer paper from the cassette 20 at the same speed as the photoreceptor belt 2 in synchronization with the image on the photoreceptor belt 2. This transfer paper is guided by guide plates 21 and 22 as shown by chain lines in the figure, and the toner image on the photoreceptor belt 2 is transferred by the transfer section 9 to the guide plate 2.
3 and 24, the toner is fixed in the fixing section 25, and is discharged to the discharged toner 26. After passing through the transfer section 9, the photoreceptor belt 2 is cleaned by a cleaning section 10, neutralized by a static eliminator 27, and reused, and the idle rollers 6 and 7 are returned to their original positions.

FIG. 3 is a time chart in the copying machine mode of this embodiment. When in copier mode, clutch 1
Keep the number 8 inserted and make copies continuously. At this time, the original on the contact glass 28 is illuminated by the light source 29, and the reflected light passes through the mirror 30 and lens 31 and enters the image reading element 32, and sub-scanning is performed by the movement of the contact glass 28, and the original image is A read is made. Then, image information from the image reading element 32 is applied to the cathode ray tube 1, and recording is repeated for a set number of sheets in substantially the same manner as in the facsimile mode.

Note that the present invention applies to line scanning type recording devices that scan a recording medium to form a latent image, such as a recording device that scans and exposes a photoconductor with a laser or a recording device that creates a latent image on the electric body using a stylus or the like. It can be applied in the same manner as in the embodiment.

As described above, in the multi-mode recording device according to the present invention, the speed at the latent image forming section of the belt-shaped recording medium is varied according to each mode, and the conveyance speed of the transfer paper and the transfer section of the belt-shaped recording medium are adjusted. Since the transfer speed is set to a constant speed according to the fastest recording mode, there is no loss in sub-scanning speed and the highest recording speed can be obtained in each mode.
Furthermore, there is no need to change the conveyance speed of the transfer paper, and jams can be reduced. Since the recording medium is always pulled by providing a spring-loaded idle roller that absorbs the movement of the belt-shaped recording medium, the recording medium is not unduly deformed and can be transported reliably.

1. It has a latent image forming section that forms a latent image on a recording medium, a developing section that develops this latent image, and a transfer section that transfers the developed image obtained in this developing section onto a transfer paper. In a recording device that transports at different speeds depending on the mode, a belt-shaped recording medium is used as the recording medium, and a spring-loaded play roller is provided to absorb the movement of the belt-shaped recording medium so that the recording medium is constantly pulled. By using a switching means to switch a roller connected to a driving means for conveying and driving this belt-like recording medium, the speed of this belt-like recording medium at the latent image forming section can be changed to each state. The recording medium is variable according to the mode, and the transport speed of the transfer paper and the speed of transfer of the belt-shaped recording medium at the transfer section are set to be constant speeds in accordance with the fastest recording mode. Multi-mode recording device.
