The asbestos is placed on the mandrel in the form of a circular plate with a hole in the center, crimped and fixed, and the asbestos part of the roller is turned round. Any asbestos residues remaining on the glass plate can be wiped off from the cooled surface afterwards. Even if a small amount of asbestos remains on the glass surface, it usually does not pose a problem.

It cannot be used as a material for roller surfaces because it degrades the material so much that it is unacceptable.

特徴としている。 It has already been proposed to cover conveying rollers for hot glass strips with a tubular jacket consisting of a web of highly heat-resistant fibers, such as quartz glass fibers (German patent no. No. 2533367). The use of this quartz glass web is also unsuitable for rolling glass-ceramics, since the overwhelming high temperatures reduce the abrasion and breaking strength so much that the web has to be replaced frequently. It is. The waste for this purpose is unacceptably large.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, the present invention is directed to a new conveying roller suitable for conveying hot glass-ceramic plates, which is more economical and has a longer life than conventional rollers. This object is achieved by a conveying roller according to the invention, characterized in that the surface of the conveying roller carrying the glass-ceramic plate consists of a layer of steel wool.

Steel wool appears to be unsuitable for use on the surface of conveying rollers for hot glass strips, and this preconception is particularly relevant to the use of steel wool on conveying rollers for hot glass-ceramic strips. About existed. However, it has surprisingly been found that the defects caused by the surface of the conveying rollers on the surface of the plate during rolling of the glass-ceramic are completely eliminated during further processing of the plate.
