The present invention relates to an improvement in a suction device for a flash butt welder for welding steel strips. Conventional flash butt welding machines for welding steel strips do not have atmosphere suction devices, and flash sputter waste,
Welding bead debris, iron oxide powder, etc. were scattered around the machine, adversely affecting machine operation. As a countermeasure, we did not perform manual cleaning during work stoppages. Recently, new types of welding machines have appeared that surround the welding area with a cover during flash butt welding to suck out the atmosphere, but the suction continues even during times other than flash butt welding, sucking in unnecessary air. This only results in energy loss. On the other hand, since spatter debris, weld bead debris, etc. are scattered around the mechanism other than the welded parts, as in the past, cleaning has become necessary to be done manually. In order to advantageously solve these problems, the present invention improves the suction device of a flat butt welding machine for steel strip welding. The present invention sucks the atmosphere near the welding part during flat butt welding, and during other times the machine is moved. It is characterized by being equipped with an automatic control device that sucks the atmosphere near mechanisms other than the welding part, such as the carriage surface and the electrode surface. By carrying out the present invention, unnecessary operation of the atmosphere suction blower can be eliminated, which not only saves the labor of cleaning workers, but also keeps the welding machine and the surrounding environment clean at all times, which stabilizes the operation of the welding machine. Effective in extending the life of mechanical parts. Embodiment FIG. 1 is an explanatory diagram of the entire apparatus of the present invention during flash butt welding, in which 1 is a suction and forced air blower, 2 is a coarse separator with a deposit discharge port 4 at the bottom, and 3 is a deposit discharge port at the bottom. A fine particle filter having an outlet 4' and a clean air exhaust hole 5 at the top, 6 is a main duct, and several branch ducts 7, 7',
7'', each branch duct 7, 7', 7'' is equipped with an opening/closing damper 8, 8', 8'' operated by an air cylinder 11, 11', 11'', respectively, and a flexible hose 9, 9, respectively. The cover 12, 12', 12'' is connected to the cover 12, 12', 12'' through which the atmosphere is to be drawn. The case in Figure 1 shows the situation during flash butt welding. In this case, only the opening/closing damper 8 is open and the other dampers 8' and 8'' are all closed. Since the atmosphere near the surrounded welding part 13 is sucked, spatter debris, weld bead debris, etc. generated in the welding part 13 are removed.
All iron oxide powder and the like are drawn in and suctioned, passed through the flexible hose 9, branch duct 7, opening/closing damper 8, and main duct 6, and the coarse particles are separated by the coarse separator 2 and discharged from the sediment discharge port 4 at the bottom.
The air from which dangerous coarse particles have been removed is sucked into the blower 1, and further pushed out, the fine particles are separated in the particle filter 3, and the air is discharged from the sediment discharge port 4' at the bottom, resulting in clean air. is discharged from the upper exhaust hole 5. That is, in the case of FIG. 1, spatter debris, bead debris, etc. are most likely to occur during flash butt welding, but the above operation has the effect of not scattering these debris to the surrounding area at all. Figure 2 shows a case in which the movable base is moving to enter or leave the flash butt welding position, and in this case, there are obstacles such as spatter debris and bead debris on the movable base running surface 13'. If there are obstacles, the moving platform will not move smoothly and will not reach the correct position, which may hinder work. Therefore, it is necessary to always remove obstacles from the moving surface of the moving platform. waste,
This is the place where bead debris etc. are most likely to be scattered. In the case of FIG. 2, this movable carriage running surface 13' is surrounded by a cover 12', connected to the main duct 6 via a flexible hose 9' and a branch duct 7', and an air cylinder 1
1' is operated to open the opening/closing damper 8', and the other opening/closing dampers 8, 8'' are all closed. In other words, in the case of Fig. 2, when the movable table is moving other than during welding, This shows the situation in which the air blower 1 during the time period is used effectively to vacuum the atmosphere on the moving platform running surface and clean the moving platform running surface, which is effective in effectively using equipment and saving the labor of cleaning personnel. Figure 3 shows a case where the flash butt welding work has been completed, the moving table has moved to the standby position, and is now waiting for the next welding work. In this case, the atmosphere near the electrode surface 13'' is surrounded by a cover 12'', connected to the main duct 6 via a flexible hose 9'' and a branch duct 7'', and connected to the air cylinder 1.
1'' is operated to open the opening/closing damper 8'', and the other dampers 8 and 8' are all closed. The vicinity of the welding part 13 including the electrode surface 13'' is cleaned by suctioning the atmosphere during the welding period shown in the first diagram, but in this case, since the suction range is wide, the electrode surface 1
Since it is not possible to concentrate on the electrode surface 13'', the electrode surface 13'' is thoroughly cleaned using the standby period during flash butt welding and while the moving table is being moved. All of the above operations include the movement of the evacuation table into the welding position, various operations during flash butt welding, the evacuation movement of the movement table after the welding work is completed, and the branch pipes due to the operation of air cylinders 11, 11', and 11''. The operations of the ducts 7, 7', 7'' opening/closing dampers 8, 8', 8'' are all performed by commands from the automatic control device 10, and an example of such control is shown below.

[Table] Of course, the locations where the atmosphere should be sucked other than during flash butt welding are not limited to the movable carriage running surface 13' and the electrode surface 13''.
