DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an electron beam welding machine that performs processing such as welding using an electron beam, and more particularly to a shield cover for preventing bending of an electron beam in a welding chamber. It is well known that in recent years, electron beam welding has been used for welding thin plates to thick plates of about 20 mm to 30 mm due to its deep penetration advantage. In particular, its application to large structures is gradually expanding. However, when welding these large structures, the weld length is generally as long as 1 m or more. However, the electron beam's path is bent by a small magnetic field, that is, a magnetic field of 10 Gauss or more.
Furthermore, even when the permanent magnetic field is sufficiently low, such as 10 Gauss or less, the course of the workpiece is similarly bent due to the influence of the shape of the jig for fixing the workpiece or the shape of the moving square wheel for moving the workpiece. The present invention has been made in view of these points, and provides a stretchable magnetic shield cover using a material with high initial magnetic permeability.

FIG. 1 is a sectional view schematically showing a welding chamber and an electron beam generator of an electron beam welding machine according to the present invention. In FIG. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes a welding chamber in which a workpiece 2 is housed, and is shown cut away in the left and right direction in the figure. Further, a movable cart 3 for moving a workpiece 2 is attached to the welding chamber 1. 4 is an electron beam generator, and an electron beam is generated by the electron beam generator 4 and irradiated in the direction of arrow X- X0 . 5-1 , 5-2 , 5-3 ...5- o is a shield cover. These shield covers adjacent to each other have a structure that allows them to move in response to the expansion and contraction of the shield cover at the tip 5-1 , that is, to be able to expand and contract as shown in the figure. Each of the shield covers has a circular cross-sectional shape and becomes smaller toward the tip. Tip shield cover 5-
The diameter of part 1 is at least about 80 mm, and the diameter of the opening at the tip is at least 40 mm. Further, a connecting arm 6 is attached to the shield cover 5-1 , and the connecting arm 6 is also connected to a drive shaft 7 for extending and contracting the shield cover 5. The shaft 7 is attached so as to pass through the welding chamber 1, and a portion of the welding chamber 1 is kept airtight by a sealing material 8. 9 is a bearing for the shaft 7. The upper end 7 of the shaft 7 is connected to a drive source, such as a rack and pinion shaft (not shown), for raising and lowering the shaft 7 in the vertical direction. By raising and lowering the shaft 7, the shield covers 5-1 , 5-2 ...
5- o also expands and contracts. The shield cover 5 is made of a material with high initial magnetic permeability, such as permalloy. During welding, the shield cover 5 is extended by lowering the shaft 7, and the distance d between it and the workpiece 2 is set to about 50 mm. As a result, the electron beam path X-X 0 is not influenced by an external magnetic field, and the electron beam is always irradiated straight. The effect of this shield cover is that the distance from the electron beam generator 4 to the workpiece 2 is 1
In the experiments conducted by the inventors, it became more noticeable when the shield cover was longer than 2 m.
Although bending due to the magnetic field of the electron beam occurred in the range of ~5 mm, by providing the shield cover with a thickness of 3 mm, the bending of the electron beam can be reduced to a range that cannot be determined visually, that is, 0.2 mm or less. I was able to hold it down. As described above, by using the shield cover of the present invention, the influence of magnetism can be ignored, and it is only necessary to perform relatively rough demagnetization work on the structure inside the welding chamber or the welding chamber. Its practical effects are great, such as being able to prevent it from coming off.

1. A shield cover is provided between the electron beam generator and the workpiece, each of which has a circular cross-sectional shape and whose circular diameter decreases as it approaches the workpiece, and the shield cover expands and contracts in response to the expansion and contraction of the shield cover at the tip. In other words, the shield cover at the tip must have a telescopic structure that allows the shield cover to expand and contract, and the driving shaft as a means for expanding and contracting the shield cover at the tip is installed so as to penetrate through the welding chamber, and the sealing material is used to maintain airtightness. The electron beam welding machine is characterized in that the shield cover is held close to the workpiece by about 50 mm from the welding surface during welding.
