[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present invention provides a simple process for applying a coating that is durable, elegant, and creates a luxurious atmosphere at a low cost on cosmetic containers made of inexpensive and easily moldable materials such as plastic. This invention relates to a method for decorating plastic containers.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend to use synthetic resins, ie, plastics, as materials for containers for cosmetics and the like to reduce weight, reduce material costs, and make them suitable for mass production.

However, containers made of synthetic resin were unable to shake off their poor image, and this had a very negative impact on the sales of cosmetics and the like. Therefore, in order to create a luxurious atmosphere, a method has been started in which a metal foil of an appropriate shape is pasted on a container that has been appropriately painted to create a metallic image and create a luxurious atmosphere.

However, with this method, even in mass production,
For example, it is very time-consuming and requires a lot of time and effort to complete the process, such as cutting out the metal foil, cleaning it, applying adhesive, cleaning the container, pasting the metal foil, and finishing with a coating on the surface. The drawback was that the finished product was expensive.

Therefore, the present invention was created in view of the above-mentioned points, and its gist is to apply masking to the surface of a plastic container in an appropriate shape, and to peel off the necessary parts of the masked surface by cutting. Cutting grooves are formed that reach the material surface of the container, and then ion plating is applied to the entire surface of the container.
It consists in applying metal plating such as sputtering, then removing the masking, and then applying a transparent paint over it by electrophoretic coating.

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 2, the container 1 is made of plastic, and a masking agent is applied to the top surface 2 of the container 1 leaving an edge 3 to form a masking surface 4.

Then, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the material of the container 1 is peeled off to a certain depth by cutting the necessary parts from above the masking surface 4 into an appropriate shape so as to reach the surface of the container 1. Cut the groove to form the cutting groove 5. Furthermore, metal plating such as ion plating or sputtering is then applied to the entire surface of the container 1, and then the masking remaining on the upper surface 2 of the container 1 is peeled off. the result,
The edge 3 of the upper surface 2 of the container 1 and the cut groove 5 are plated with the metal to form a plated surface 7, and the surface 6 from which the remaining masking has been removed is left unplated.

Then, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, a transparent paint is applied by electrophoretic coating to the upper surface 2 of the container 1 which has undergone the processing described above. Then, since the surface 6, which is not plated with metal, is still made of plastic, no current will flow.
Therefore, electrophoretic coating is performed only on the plated surface 7 to form an electrophoretic coated surface 8. As a result, since electrophoretic painting is performed using a transparent paint, the ground color of the plated surface 7 appears as it is, and if it is further painted with a colored transparent paint, a colored metallic surface will appear. It is possible to do so. Therefore, coating, which is a conventional process, can also be replaced.

In addition, the conventional processes such as metal foil die cutting and pasting can be shortened, and can be done in one step by metal plating such as ion plating and sputtering, and the painted surface has good adhesion. This makes it possible to create a container 1 that is sturdy, elegant, and exudes a luxurious atmosphere. Furthermore, since the surface 6 from which the remaining masking has been removed is not coated with plating or electrophoretic coating, it is possible to apply other coatings or various patterns to the surface 6 as desired. , which can be easily changed depending on the image of various cosmetics, etc.

Furthermore, since the cut groove 5 mentioned above is slightly recessed, the edge 3 of the top surface 2 is raised due to plating and painting, whereas it looks like metal is embedded in it. It is possible to create a beautiful pattern with a very clear external shape.

As explained above, the present invention uses masking and metal plating such as ion plating and sputtering, and furthermore, by electrophoretic painting on the metal plating surface, it is very easy to make it look like a metal foil is embedded. In addition, it is possible to apply a strong, elegant, and deep metallic coating to the surface of containers such as plastic, which creates a luxurious atmosphere even with inexpensive materials, which greatly arouses the consumer's desire to purchase. Since the design can be easily changed, it has excellent effects such as being able to manufacture a wide variety of containers.
