Conventionally, in a facsimile device, a document to be transmitted is placed in the main body of the device, the other party is called by dialing the telephone, the document is divided into pixels and read, and this image information is transmitted to the receiving station. On the other hand, on the receiving side, the received image information is demodulated so that it can be recorded by a recording device, and the image is reproduced on recording paper. As mentioned above, the facsimile device is only equipped with the functions of transmitting, receiving, and recording image information of a document. Therefore, the operator had to write down in a notebook or the like as necessary, or rely on the operator's memory, to determine "to which station" the manuscript was sent or "from which station" the manuscript was received. As a result, troublesome processing has occurred, such as confirming with the other party the sending and receiving location of the transmitted or received manuscript using other means.

The modem 3 modulates the digital signal of image information generated by the facsimile device into an analog signal and sends it to the receiving station, or demodulates the received data of the analog signal sent to it into a digital signal for recording. do. Furthermore, the modem 3 is connected to a buffer memory 6 via a transmission control circuit 5. The buffer memory 6 temporarily stores the digital signal demodulated by the modem 3 according to the switching control of the transmission control circuit 5, and also converts the image information of the document read by the image reading device 11 into digital data by the A/D conversion circuit 9. It is converted into a bit string and further encoded by the encoding circuit 7.

Reference numeral 12 is an operation unit, which includes a send button, a receive button, automatic reception mode settings, numeric keys for setting the time, machine number, department, and charge code according to the present invention, and a tally print command key, etc. have. A control circuit 20 is used as a relay for the transmission control circuit 5. 22 is a clock device, and 21 is an arithmetic circuit which calculates the time required for transmission and reception, and calculates the number of sheets of recording paper, manuscripts, etc. 23, the details of which are shown in Figure 2,
A memory that stores information generated during communication,
Together with the clock device 22, it is backed up by a battery power source or the like. The total memory 23 stores information such as the time required for transmission and reception and the department (location) of transmission and reception in the present invention. The information stored in the tally memory 23 is sequentially read out in response to the operation of the tally print command key on the operation unit 12, and is supplied to the character generator (CG circuit) 25 via the buffer memory 24, and is read out according to the corresponding character pattern generated. It is recorded by the recording device 10. The recording device 10 records the received image information or records the information in the tally memory 23 in a 5×7 matrix pattern generated by the character generator 25, for example. For example, a multi-stylus electrostatic recording device may be used in which a recording head is arranged in the main scanning direction and recording is performed by paper feed control in the sub-scanning direction. In this case, there is no need for a separate printer, and the facsimile machine itself also serves as a recording device. The character generator 25 may be a character generator of an ordinary dot printer, and may be configured to supply each character pattern to the recording device 10 line by line.

The operation of the facsimile apparatus constructed as described above will be explained according to the flowchart shown in FIG. In addition, the communication control of the facsimile device is
The transmission control circuit 5 sequentially executes the procedures according to the CCITT recommendations. here,
The control procedure by the transmission control circuit 5 will be briefly explained. Further details can be easily understood by referring to Recommendation T.30. The transmission procedure of a facsimile device consists of five steps, called phases A, B, C, D, and E. Phase A
In the process, a line connection is made to the other party's station by dialing. Phase B processing attempts to match the two stations through processes such as function identification and phase synchronization (training) with the other station. Further, in the phase C processing, the image information read by the image reading device 11 is transmitted in a compressed code to the receiving station side. Furthermore, after confirming messages etc. in phase D processing, call recovery processing is performed in phase E processing to prepare the facsimile device for the next operation.

In the above processing, the present invention transmits the generated information to the partner station or receives it from the partner station.
That is, what is important in the present invention is that in Phase B processing, the receiving station sends an NSF message indicating non-standard equipment to the transmitting station.
A code is output, followed by a machine number in binary code. The transmitting station also outputs an NSS code indicating the settings of the non-standard device, and then transmits the transmitting station's communication time, department code, assigned code, machine number, etc. to the receiving station in binary code. In addition, in Phase C processing, following the RTC code that is output after the transmission or reception of image information is completed, Phase D processing sends out time information, size information and number of sheets of original or recording paper used, etc. .

Next, the operation will be explained to explain the above in more detail. First, transmission control will be explained. When the line with the other party is connected through Phase A processing, the facsimile device enters transmission mode and
The flow shown in Figure a is executed. In this case, the transmission mode is set by operating the transmission button on the operation unit 12 through a line connection with the other station. When entering the transmission mode, the clock device 22 causes the arithmetic circuit 2 to
1, the current time is transferred to the buffer TBuF 1 62 of the control circuit 20 and temporarily stored therein. Next, phase B processing is executed. During this process, when function identification information is sent from the receiving station and an NSF code indicating a non-standard device is sent, the transmission control circuit 5 stores subsequent binary code information in the buffer RBuF 61 of the control circuit 20. . The binary code stored in this buffer RBuF 61 is used to check whether the functions of the two match.
If they match, the machine number of the facsimile device sent from the receiving station is transferred to the receiving station's machine number area SM 2o of the tally memory 23 addressed to the SM pointer 52 and stored. If they do not match, it is determined that the functions of the two devices do not match, and an "XX" (asterisk) code is transferred to the area SM 2o of the total memory 23 and stored therein.

The above is the transmission process, and next, the reception process will be explained. The reception process is also almost the same as the transmission process, and the differences will be explained. A line with the receiving station is connected by dialing on the transmitting station side, and the facsimile device is set to receiving mode by operating the operating section 12. When entering the reception mode, as shown in FIG. 3b, it sends an NSF code (a code indicating a non-standard device) to the transmitting station, and also sends the machine number preset to the buffer MBuF 66 in binary code to the transmission control circuit 5. If the result of the verification is a mismatch (this point is different from the reception process), the flip-flop F69 is set and the "XX" code (ask code) is stored in the reception total area of the total memory 23.
RM 1o , RM 2o , and RM 7o , and when the receiving mode is entered, the time of the buffer TBuF 62 that has previously taken in and stored the time of the clock device 22 is stored in the area RM 3o of the tally memory 23 . That is, if both the transmitting and receiving facsimile devices have the function according to the present invention, the time of the transmitting station is given priority, and if the other station does not have this function, the time of the receiving station is totaled. This is because the other party has a clock and the time may be different.

Subsequently, the image information transferred from the transmitting station is bittoned via each circuit and supplied to the recording device 11 to start recording. When the transmission of the image information from the transmitting station is completed, the transmitting station transmits an RTC code. If this is received, and the flip-flop F69 is reset at this time (that is, the functions of both stations match), the binary code following the RTC code is transferred to the buffer RBuF61, and the required time from the transmitting station is calculated. The data is bulky
The document size is stored in the area RM5o of the tally memory 23, and the sheet number information is further transferred to the sheet number counter P68. If the flip-flop 69 is set, the reception start time stored in the buffer TBuF 1 62 is subtracted from the current time of the clock device 22 to calculate the required time and transferred to the buffer TBuf 2 63. Further, size information recognized by the recording process of the recording device 10 as the document size is stored in advance in the buffer PBuF 67, and this document size (recording paper size)
The information is transferred to area RM 5o of tally memory 23 and stored. Subsequently, when the transmitting station sends out an instruction indicating that the subsequent document is present, the image recording process is executed again. If there is no subsequent document, the time of the buffer TBuF 2 63 in which the required time is stored is transferred and stored in the reception area RM 4o of the tally memory 23. Further, the number information of the number of sheets counter P68 is stored in the area RM6o of the tally memory 23. At this time,
The time of the buffer TBuF 2 63 is added to the total area RMT of the tally memory 23 and stored, and the number of sheets in the sheet number counter 68 is added and stored in the area RMP. Furthermore, flip-flop F
69 has been reset, and the RM pointer 5 that was pointing (addressing) each totaling area of the totaling memory 23
3 is incremented by 1 and prepared for the next reception. Thereafter, the line and power are disconnected.
