When packaging this coil for shipment, the coil should be wrapped in anti-rust and waterproof wrapping paper, then covered with a steel plate protection plate or corner protective fittings, and secured with steel bands, hoops, etc. will be carried out. This wrapping paper wrapping is done by wrapping a wrapping paper 40 wider than the coil width around the coil 39 as shown in Fig. 1, and then folding the protrusion 40' from the coil end face toward the coil end face as shown in Fig. 2. method is taken.

In addition, as in Japanese Patent Publication No. 49-44636, a device in which, instead of the triangular plate, skewer-shaped rollers whose cylinders rotate around a shaft are arranged radially has also been announced.

As in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 52-64383, a technique has been announced in which wrapping paper with pre-folds is used and triangular plates are folded in using folding tools arranged radially. These two cases belong to the same inventor, but apart from the fact that the wrapping paper is pre-creased, another distinctive feature is that for each fold crest, one triangular plate is further divided into two vertically. , the width of the triangular plate is widened on the end face of the coil so that the creases are properly formed.

A method has been announced in which the creases are created without forming creases in advance.
This support mechanism is designed to be folded and retracted in conjunction with the folding operation of the triangular plate, as if the umbrella were being shrunk.

た。"Problems to be Solved by the Invention" As mentioned above, various methods have been proposed for automating the packaging of metal coils, but none have been put into practical use to date. Technically speaking, it is essentially similar to the method used for automatic packaging of cylindrical items such as cheese, and the same type of technology has been put into practical use for packaging these small items. However, metal coils typically have a diameter of 2 meters or more, which causes the paper to wrinkle and tear, and none of the methods proposed to date have been successful. According to experiments conducted by the present inventors, it was found that as the diameter of the coil increases, it becomes more difficult to fold it, and in particular, when the diameter exceeds about 1.5 m, the difficulty increases dramatically compared to smaller diameters. . Not only did the paper fold well or not fold depending on the type of paper, but there was also a phenomenon in which paper with the same nameplate folded well on a sunny day, but on a rainy day it became full of wrinkles and did not fold at all. . It turns out that this is because the stiffness, or stiffness, of paper changes depending on the humidity.

の範囲は狭いものであつた。 Also, the dimensions of the metal coil are different from those of the above-mentioned cheese etc., and the dimensions of the metal coil are the width, thickness, length (weight) of the ordered metal plate.
It varies depending on the situation. The only thing that has been standardized is the diameter of the center hole. In all conventionally announced devices, one end of the folding tool such as a triangular plate is connected on the circumference with a hinge or the like, so the contact between the wrapping paper and the triangular plate changes depending on the diameter of the coil, making it possible to achieve good folding with the same device. The range of coil diameters that could be achieved was narrow.

構成により従来技術の問題を解決した。``Means for Solving the Problems'' The present inventors believe that when packaging large items such as metal coils, unlike the case of small items, it is impossible to use a folding method that relies on the rigidity of the paper. I've come to a conclusion. In other words, it would be impossible to simply scale up a method that has been successful in packaging cheese and other products.
Therefore, in the coil packaging method of the present invention, the problems of the prior art are solved by the following configuration.

The length l of the protrusion from the end face of the coil is larger than the thickness t between the inner and outer surfaces of the coil 39. This is because the paper is folded into the hole on the inner surface of the coil. The coil is then placed on a stand 38 with a plurality of push plates 18 in contact with the outer surface of the wrapper, near where the ends of the coil are on the inner surface of the wrapper (see FIG. 3). This push plate 18 has a shape based on an isosceles triangle, and may also have a shape with the apex portion cut off as shown in FIG. 8, that is, a trapezoid. This push plate 18 is rotatably attached to the tip of the opening/closing arm 14.

の方法といえる。 On the other hand, before and after this, the same number of pleating rods 27 as the pressing plates 18 are brought into contact with the inner surface of the end of the wrapping paper in parallel at the intermediate position of the pressing plates. By holding the wrapping paper from the inner and outer surfaces in this manner before starting the folding operation of the wrapping paper, the protrusion 40' from the end surface of the coil of the wrapping paper is correctly held in a cylindrical shape. If the wrapping paper is not properly cylindrical at the beginning of packaging, subsequent steps will be unsuccessful. When packaging large items such as metal coils, it is difficult to maintain the cylindrical shape by itself even if wrapping paper is used, which has a high rigidity, so it is necessary to support the wrapping paper by such means. Moreover, in order to make packaging that is as independent as possible from the rigidity of the wrapping paper, that is, unaffected by the brand of wrapping paper or the climate and humidity, it is important to constrain the wrapping paper as much as possible during the folding process. I found out that there is. That is, it is preferable to support the wrapping paper by a line rather than a point, and a plane is preferable to a line. Moreover, it is effective to support it with as long a line as possible and on a wide surface. It can be said that supporting the wrapping paper with a surface from the outside and a wire from the inside as in the method of the present invention is the best possible method.

できるのである。 Next, the press plate 18 is rotated from the state of contact with the outer peripheral end of the coil toward the end face of the coil. This rotation is performed around the contact line between the push plate 18 and the edge of the coil end. This is the opening/closing arm 1 in the device shown in Figure 3.
4 toward the center of the coil, the push plate 18 will rotate around the hinge 19, so this can be done.
At this time, the contact line of the end of the coil with the ridge is slightly shifted on the surface of the push plate 18, and the center of rotation is not constant, but this does not pose a problem in practice. The wrapping paper 40 is folded as shown in FIGS. 12 and 13 by the rotation of the push plate 18, while the pleating rod 27 is applied with force by the spring 29 (FIG. 3). At the same time, the tip is tilted toward the center of the coil by the rotating shaft 28 (the state indicated by the two-dot chain line in FIG. 7). As a result, fold ridges are formed between the push plates 18. As the push plate 18 rotates toward the end face of the coil, the pleat forming rod 27 becomes less engaged with the wrapping paper and naturally separates from the wrapping paper, but until then, the wrapping paper is kept in a tensioned state from beginning to end. This allows reliable folding without depending on the rigidity of the wrapping paper.

第17図)。 Further, since the above-mentioned operation of the pleating rod 27 is performed in a driven manner by the operating force of the push plate 18, a force exceeding the strength regulated by the strength of the spring 29 is not applied to the wrapping paper. Therefore, even if the pleating rod 27 is not moved in synchronization with the movement of the push plate 18, there is no risk of tearing the wrapping paper.
After the push plate 18 comes into contact with the end face of the coil due to the rotational movement (Fig. 8), it slides toward the center of the coil (Fig. 9).
), thereby forming the radial folds 41 in FIG.
It is completely attached as shown in Figure 15. This operation is also performed continuously with the previous operation by further rotating the opening/closing arm 14 toward the center of the coil following the rotation of the push plate. Next, by rotating the push plate 18 all at once about the coil axis, the folds 41 are laid down on the end face of the coil, and the ring 42 is fitted with the push plate 18 holding down the fold 41 on the end face of the coil. Insert and fix using tool 33 (Fig. 16,

このためのものである。 In the above, the folds can be collapsed by rotating the coil instead of moving the push plate 18, but it is preferable to move the push plate because there is no risk of wrinkles or damage to the wrapping paper. Furthermore, if the ring 42 is not inserted while the push plate 18 is pressing the end face of the coil, the folded folds will open due to the elasticity of the paper, so it is necessary to attach the ring with a device that is integrated with the folding device. Note that in FIG. 5 showing this operating state, a part of the push plate 18 is lifted up from the end surface of the coil, but when the previous folding operation is completed, a part of the push plate 18 will close the center hole ( (Fig. 4, Fig. 9), the opening/closing arm was moved back a little, and this degree is not a problem. Next, the effects of each of the above-mentioned constituent elements of the apparatus of the present invention will be explained below.
A cylindrical body 2 is protruded from a machine frame 1, and a rotary cylinder 5 is provided on the cylindrical body 2. A plurality of opening/closing arms 14 rotatable by pins 15 are attached to this on the circumference. The tip of the opening/closing arm 14 must reach from a position near the center hole of the coil to a position on the outer periphery of the coil. Therefore, it is necessary to have a sufficient length in consideration of the maximum diameter of the coil according to specifications, which is the device capacity. Also, push plate 1
In order to press the coil 8 against the side surface of the coil, it is desirable that the coil be curved as shown in FIG. A push plate 18 is attached to the tip of each opening/closing arm 14 by a rotating shaft 19, and is tensioned by a spring 20 so that the tension increases as it rotates toward the end face of the coil. . In the free state, the push plate 18 is placed in a position substantially parallel to the outer surface of the coil, ie, in the position shown in FIG. 3, by a rotation stopper (not shown). With such a mechanism, a series of steps of the method of the present invention including pressing the pusher plate 18 against the outer circumferential surface of the coil, rotating the pusher plate 18 toward the end face of the coil, and sliding the pusher plate 18 toward the center of the coil on the end face of the coil are performed. The operation can be realized by a single operation of driving the opening/closing arm 14. The opening/closing arm 14 or the push plate 18 can be rotated all at once from a fixed position by a certain angle, for example, about 30 degrees, about the coil axis in order to collapse the folds. The rotation of the rotating cylinder 5 is for this purpose.

8, the tip is pulled by a spring 29 so that the tension increases as the tip rotates toward the coil axis. A rotation stopper (not shown) is provided so that the pleating rod 27 is parallel to the coil axis in the free position.
Further, in the method of the present invention, at the start of a series of folding operations, it is necessary to bring the pleating rod into contact with the inner surface of the wrapping paper parallel to the coil axis. Therefore, a radial position adjustment mechanism is required. For the above purpose, the position adjustment range needs to be at least the radius of the coil to be packaged. Actually, in order to insert the pleat forming rod 27 inside the wrapping paper at the start of packaging, it is necessary to move the coil further inward than the minimum diameter of the coil. In the apparatus shown in FIG. 3, this position adjustment mechanism is provided by screw feeding mechanisms 21-25.

A ring 42 is attached to this in advance and inserted into the center hole of the coil. In the method of the present invention, this ring is installed while the folds 41 are laid down by the pusher plate 18 and the pusher plate 18 is pressing the end face of the distal coil. In order to realize this, in the device of the present invention, the coil inner surface fitting member 33 is also attached to the cylindrical body 2 that supports the opening/closing arm 14 etc. via an advancing/retracting mechanism, so that the device has an integrated function.

This problem was solved by applying a restraining force, making it possible to automate the packaging of large diameter circular objects.

The wrapping paper is clamped over as wide a surface as possible from the inner and outer surfaces using the pleating rods 27, and an appropriate tension is applied to the paper even on the free surface portion not in contact with the pressing plate or the like. Furthermore, during the folding operation, the push plate is rotated from this position toward the end face of the coil, so the push plate and the pleat forming rod sandwich the wrapping paper from the inside and outside, applying tension while allowing the folding to proceed. . In all of the coil wrapping methods proposed so far, the push plate first comes into contact with the circumferential edge of the wrapping paper at the start of operation, and means for supporting and restraining the wrapping paper are also provided. As a result, the paper became wrinkled and the folding became awkward.

りするおそれがない。 Furthermore, if the pleating rod 27 is adjusted to be at the coil radius position at the start of the folding operation, it will then be driven by the operation of the push plate 18 until it is separated from the wrapping paper. Therefore, no synchronization mechanism with the movement of the push plate 18 is required, and there is no risk that an unexpected force greater than that determined by the spring 29 will cause the paper to tear.

A series of different actions can be performed, such as rotating and then sliding over the end face of the coil towards the center of the coil. This simplifies the mechanism, and does not require, for example, a mechanism that creates creases by dividing the press plate itself into two and increasing its width.

It can be done. In order to accommodate the coil diameter, it is necessary to change the position of the pleating rod 27 in addition to the operating range of the opening/closing arm described above, but this can be easily handled by the radial position adjustment mechanism. In conventionally proposed coil packaging devices, the bottom of the push plate is connected at a fixed position with a hinge, so there is little flexibility regarding the coil diameter, but the present invention can easily create a device that can accommodate a wide range of coil diameters. It can be designed to

3 is integrally provided using the hollow space of the cylindrical body 2, so the ring can be attached while the folding of the folds is completed and the pressing plate is pressing the end face of the distal coil.
