The present invention relates to a herbicide for lawns, and more particularly, to a herbicide for lawns that selectively controls annual grass weeds such as Psyllium annuus and Laminaria, which are noxious weeds in lawn gardens. In recent years, lawns have been increasingly planted in recreational facilities such as golf courses, baseball fields, and gardens, and as a result, lawn management has become more important. One of the most important aspects of this management is the control of weeds in lawns, and among these weeds, weeds that are particularly problematic in lawn gardens from the Kanto region to northern Japan are annual rice plants such as sycamore and porphyry. This is a family weed, and once it inhabits a lawn garden, it forms many ears from one plant, rapidly multiplying in a short period of time, and is extremely difficult to control. Conventionally, there are two types of herbicides for lawns: soil treatment agents that are sprayed into the soil before weeds emerge to prevent them from germinating, and foliage treatment agents that are applied to the foliage of weeds after they emerge to prevent their growth. The latter includes Simazin, Romper, Ductal, Asyulum, etc., and the latter includes MCP,
There are MCPP, 2,4-D, etc. However, these have disadvantages such as low efficacy and chemical damage such as yellowing of lawns, and the period of use is limited, so they are not completely satisfactory. It has been extremely difficult to selectively kill weeds using conventional herbicides, especially in Western grasses (Kentatsuki bull grass, Penn cross bent, etc.) that are susceptible to chemical damage. Therefore, the present inventors have developed a method that does not cause chemical damage to lawns.
As a result of intensive research to provide a chemical that can selectively control weeds that occur in lawn gardens, we have found a chemical that has been widely used as a surfactant (see below).
More surprisingly, the alkylbenzene sulfonate represented by the formula has the effect of suppressing the ear emergence of the above-mentioned annual grass weeds, dwarfing grass beds, and significantly reducing the absolute number of weeds. They discovered that this does not cause any chemical damage to lawns, and completed the present invention. Therefore, the present invention provides the general formula () (In the formula, R represents an alkyl group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, and X represents a cation derived from an inorganic cation or an organic amine.) A foliar treatment type lawn weed killer containing an alkylbenzene sulfonate as an active ingredient. It is intended to provide an agent for As the alkylbenzene sulfonate represented by the general formula (), in the formula (), X is potassium,
Alkali metals such as sodium; alkaline earth metals such as calcium, magnesium, barium;
Examples include inorganic salts represented by inorganic cations such as ammonium, and organic salts represented by cations derived from organic amines such as monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, isopropylamine, isopropanolamine, and morpholine.
These may or may not be dissolved in water. When the lawn herbicide of the present invention is applied to a lawn garden, it is preferably used as a spray solution in the form of a solution, suspension, or emulsion. Examples of the solvent in this case include water, lower alcohols such as methanol, isopropanol, and isobutanol, ethylene or propylene glycol, acetone, xylene, kerosene, benzene, methylnaphthalene, and cyclohexanone. The concentration of alkylbenzene sulfonate in the spray liquid is
A content of 0.001 to 5% by weight, especially 0.01 to 3% by weight gives good results. Furthermore, the lawn herbicide of the present invention is made into a wettable powder by mixing and adsorbing the alkylbenzene sulfonate with bulking agents such as talc, diatomaceous earth, silica, and calcium nitrate of various particle sizes. It can also be suspended and sprayed. The lawn herbicide of the present invention is most effective when applied to lawn gardens during the grass growing season. The amount of alkylbenzenesulfonate to be applied is preferably about 0.5 to 50 g per 1 area of lawn garden.
In addition, other herbicides, surfactants, and spreading agents can be used in combination with the lawn herbicide of the present invention, within a range that does not impair the effects of the present invention. EXAMPLES Next, the present invention will be specifically explained with reference to Examples, but the present invention is not limited to these Examples. Example 1 Emulsion and wettable powder compositions 1 to 4 with the following compositions were prepared, and these were diluted 50 times, 100 times, and 200 times,
The herbicidal effect on annual grass weeds was investigated. The results are shown in Table 1. (Composition) Composition 1 (Emulsion) Calcium dodecylbenzenesulfonate

10 〃 Diatomaceous earth 10 〃 Clay 50 〃 (Test method) Psyllium cerevisiae and Cucumber grass were grown in their own pots, and at the beginning of heading, 30 ml of diluted solution of the above compositions 1 to 4 was added per pot (6-inch pot; 255 cm 2 ); Evenly distributed using a small sprayer. A second spraying was carried out one week later, and after heading 20 days after the first spraying,
I checked the grass bed.
