する互いに偏心した案内用の内筒とシールド用の
外筒とで構成した内外二重の筒状のシールド機本
体の推進方向前面側に刃口部を備えると共に該外
筒の内周に沿つて複数個の推進ジヤツキを備えた
拡大シールド機において、該シールド機本体の該
内筒の該外筒に最も近接する領域をその軸線方向
に沿つて全長に亘り内側に凸入したことを特徴と

に変わるところはないが、本発明の特徴とすると
ころに従つてシールド機本体1の内筒3の外筒4
に最も近接する領域をその軸線方向に沿つて全長
に亘り内側に凸入させ、かかる凸入部7が例えば
既設シールドトンネル8のセグメント9の幾つか
を除去して形成される空間部10を推進するよう
にした。図示のものではシールド機本体1の内筒
3と外筒4とが最も近接している領域のシールド
機分割ユニツト2の2個分をその内筒側を外筒側
から離れるように内側に凸入させるものとした。
従つて、シールド機本体1の内筒3と外筒4との
偏心量を大きくしても、内筒3と外筒4とが最も
近接する領域の内筒3と外筒4との間に比較的大
きな空間をとれ、そこに推進ジヤツキ6を設ける
ことができ、また掘削残土の排出空間も十分にと
れる。しかも、従来の拡大シールド機のシールド
機本体を構成するシールド機分割ユニツトの一部
分のみを取り替えるだけで簡単に本発明の拡大シ

筒3内の残りのセグメント9を解体し、また該内
筒3の凸入部7の前方のセグメント9を1個取り
外すと共に拡大シールド機の後方に拡大トンネル
用のゼグメントを組み立て、かかるセグメントを
反力受けにして推進ジヤツキ6で拡大シールド機
を更に推進させて既設シールドトンネル8の外周
を掘削する。かかる掘削作業を繰り返して既設シ
ールドトンネル8の外周にこれと偏心した拡大ト
