と、これを変態点以下の温度でどのように変形し
ても、その後の加熱により変態点(変態温度)に
なると、もとの記憶させておいた形状に強い変態
力を伴なつて復帰するものである。この性質を持
つ合金は、一般にTi、Niの合金か、又は、Cu、
Zn、x(xは記憶合金の性質に影響を与える金属
元素)で作られており、その配合割合により、合
金の物理的性質が種々変えられる。

櫛の刃部1を所定の温度で記憶した形状に変化す
る形状記憶合金で形成し、この形状記憶合金を髪
をカールする湾曲形状に整形して熱処理をし、そ
の形状を記憶させておく。このように処理された
刃部1は常温時には容易に手で真直ぐに伸ばせる
ので従来の櫛と同様に髪すきに用いることができ
る。髪をカールするときは、この真直な状態の刃
部1を髪の間に差し入れ、ドライヤー又は内蔵の
加熱装置により熱風を櫛の刃部1に送り、この熱
で刃部1を第3図の如く予め記憶させておいた湾
曲形状に変形させて髪をカールすることができ
る。また、刃部1に送られた熱風により刃部1で
カールされた髪はその状態でクセづけられ、その
部分の髪をカール状態に固定させる。

たものは、加熱して真直ぐに伸ばした刃部1を髪
に差し入れ、加熱を止めて常温に冷却すると刃部
1が湾曲して髪をカールするので、就寝時等の時
間を利用して長時間をかけてクセづけをし、髪を
カールするような場合に都合がよいものである。
