Therefore, solar cells 21 (Fig. 7) are vertically arranged around the dial and arranged facing inward, and a prismatic light guide ring 23 is provided inside the cells to direct light entering from the front to the solar cells 21. I proposed something that would lead to this. The light guide ring 23 is integrally formed with the front cover 22. According to this, the solar cell 21
The appearance is improved without being directly visible. However, since the solar cell 21 is provided perpendicularly to the dial, if the solar cell is made wide in the vertical direction to obtain a sufficient light-receiving area, there is a problem in that the thickness of the watch increases.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in FIGS. 1 to 5. In the figure, 1 is a main body plate, and a movement 2 is fitted into a hole provided in the center. A dial plate 3 is provided on the front of the main body plate 1, and a minute hand 4 is attached to the double output shaft of the movement 2 that passes through the dial plate 3.
and an hour hand 5 are attached. Reference numeral 6 denotes a transparent front cover made of plastic such as acrylic, and its peripheral edge is held down by a holding flange 7a of an outer ring 7 fitted onto the main body plate 1. On the back surface of the front cover 6, two light guiding rings 8 and 9 having a diameter slightly larger than that of the dial 3 are protruded concentrically with a slight distance 10 between them. The inner and outer light guide rings 8 and 9 have sloped inner and outer surfaces 8a and 9a, respectively.
It has a triangular cross-sectional shape, forming a prism. In the gap 10 between the light guiding rings 8 and 9, a solar cell block 1 is provided with solar cells 12 on both sides of a strip-shaped flexible printed circuit board 11.
3 is inserted, and the solar cell 12 is held perpendicular to the dial 3. The flexible printed circuit board 11 has a pattern 14 as shown in FIG. 3 on both the front and back surfaces, and the solar cell 12 is connected to the pattern 14. The pattern 14 is connected to a drive motor within the movement 2 and a secondary battery for driving the movement 2 via a lead wire (not shown). Note that the pattern 14 is formed such that a plurality of solar cells 12 are connected in parallel and 7 to 8 sets are connected in series.

With this configuration, light entering from the front of the front cover 6 is reflected by the inclined surfaces 8a and 9a of the inner and outer light guide rings 8 and 9, and is reflected by the front and back solar cells 1.
Guided by 2. In this way, the solar cell 12 is provided perpendicularly to the dial 3, and the light guide rings 8, 9
Since the solar cell 12 is designed to guide light, the solar cell 12 is not directly visible from the outside, which improves the aesthetic appearance.

Furthermore, since the solar cells 12 are provided on both the inside and outside surfaces of the flexible printed circuit board 11, compared to the conventional example shown in FIG. Even if the vertical width of the solar cell block 13 is narrowed, it is possible to obtain a large amount of light that enters the entire solar cell block 13. Therefore, the vertical width of the solar cell 12 can be narrowed to reduce the thickness of the entire watch.
Further, the solar cells 12 are arranged perpendicularly to the dial 3, the ring-shaped light guides, that is, the light guide rings 8 and 9 are used, and the solar cells 12 are placed on both sides of the flexible printed circuit board 11. In combination with providing the light guide rings 8 and 9 on both sides, the flexible printed circuit board 1
It is possible to efficiently guide light to the solar cells 12 on both sides of the photovoltaic cell 1 using light guiding rings 8 and 9 having a simple triangular cross-sectional shape.

Furthermore, since the flexible printed circuit board 11 is held by being inserted between the two light guide rings 8 and 9, the flexible printed circuit board 11
1 is disposed perpendicularly to the dial plate 3, there is no need to separately provide a fixing means, and it is only necessary to insert the flexible printed circuit board 11 between the dials, making assembly work easy. Since the light guide rings 8 and 9 are substantially right-angled triangular, the space between the light guide rings 8 and 9 forms parallel grooves, allowing the flexible printed circuit board 11 to be held stably.

The solar cell watch of the present invention uses solar cells arranged perpendicularly to the dial, a ring-shaped light guide, that is, a light guide ring, and solar cells on both sides of a flexible printed circuit board. In combination with providing the light guide rings on both sides, light can be efficiently guided to the solar cells on both sides of the flexible printed circuit board using light guide rings having a simple cross-sectional shape, such as a triangle. Moreover, the solar cell is not directly visible from the outside, giving it an excellent appearance. Furthermore, since solar cells are provided on both sides of the flexible printed circuit board, the amount of power generated per space is large, and a large amount of power can be obtained in a small space. Therefore, there is an effect that the width of the solar battery cell can be narrowed and the thickness of the solar battery cell can be reduced.

In addition, since the flexible printed circuit board is held by being inserted between the two light guide rings, there is no need to provide a separate fixing means when the flexible printed circuit board is placed perpendicular to the dial. Assembling is easy as it is only necessary to insert the board between the two. Since the light guide rings are approximately right-angled triangular, the spaces between the light guide rings form parallel grooves, which has the effect of stably holding the flexible printed circuit board.
