Conventional structure and its problems Traditionally, as a means of regulating the relative position of the magnetic tape and the head, guide posts, etc., each having a pair of flanges that guide the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape, are provided in the tape running path. By preventing vertical movement of the magnetic tape, the relative position of the magnetic tape with respect to the head is regulated. However, the above-mentioned regulating means prevents the vertical movement of the magnetic tape by bringing the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape into contact with the flanges of the guide post. Mechanical stress is applied to the top and bottom ends of the tape, which may damage the top and bottom ends. In addition, as another means, a position detecting means for detecting the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape, for example, a light receiving means is provided at a position in sliding contact with the end surface of the magnetic tape of a magnetic head, and a light emitting means is provided at a position facing each other with the magnetic tape interposed therebetween. A means for detecting the position of the magnetic tape is provided in the tape running path, the position detecting means detects the vertical position of the magnetic tape, and the detected information detects a deviation from the reference position of the magnetic tape in the vertical direction. However, it is conceivable to control the tape tension applied to the magnetic tape from the position correcting means by changing the perpendicularity of the position correcting means provided on the tape running path, thereby maintaining the magnetic tape at a reference position in the vertical direction. ing. However, the aforementioned regulating means not only requires position detection means to be provided on the tape running path, but also requires height adjustment (initial setting) of the position detection means and the magnetic head. Furthermore, since vertical correction of the magnetic tape is performed by changing the perpendicularity of the position correction means, tape deformation at the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape (by tilting the position correction means, the magnetic tape running path is changed at the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape). Due to the change in absolute length and the difference in the amount of tape distortion at the top and bottom ends,
Mechanical stress is generated at the upper and lower ends of the tape, causing deformation at the upper and lower ends. ) occurs, and uniform contact with the magnetic head cannot be achieved, resulting in a disadvantage that level fluctuations are likely to occur in recording/reproducing signals.

First, when the magnetic tape 4 is run and recording/reproduction is performed by the combination head 1, the recording and reproducing widths of the uppermost recording head 5 and the uppermost reproducing head 6 and the lowermost recording head change due to vertical fluctuations of the magnetic tape. 7 and the recording/playback width of the lowest playback head 8 changes. For example, the top recording and playback heads 5, 6
The lowermost recording and reproducing heads 7 and 8 are set so that when the magnetic tape 4 is at the reference position, the respective recording and reproducing outputs are predetermined outputs. Therefore, if the magnetic tape 4 moves in the vertical direction due to the vertical movement, the balance between the recording/reproducing output at the uppermost and lowermost ends and the predetermined output is lost, and this change can be easily detected by a comparison circuit. That is, as the magnetic tape 4 moves upward, the recording and reproducing output at the top end increases, and the recording and reproducing output at the bottom end decreases. As a result, the recording and reproducing outputs of the uppermost recording head 5 and the uppermost reproducing head 6,
The recording/reproducing outputs of the lowest recording head 7 and the lowest reproducing head 8 are compared by a comparator circuit (not shown), and the drive shaft 22 of the motor 23 is moved in a predetermined direction at a predetermined angle in accordance with the difference signal from the comparator circuit. Rotates and stops. As a result, the eccentric cam 21 fitted on the drive shaft 22 rotates, and the arm 2 slidingly contacts the eccentric cam 21.
The arm 20 is rotated about the support shaft 19 by vertically rotating the sliding hole 20b drilled in the arm 20, and the connecting shaft 18 that slides in sliding contact with the sliding hole 20a of the arm 20 is rotated vertically. The head base 13 is driven together with the connecting shaft 18. head base 13
Since it is mounted on a support stand 17 fixed to a main body board (not shown) by a pair of leaf springs 15 and 16, it can move vertically while remaining almost horizontal.

That is, to explain the reason why the head base 13 moves up and down while keeping it almost horizontal, the support stand 17 and the head base 13 are supported by a pair of leaf springs 15 and 16 at the top and bottom.
Since they are connected by a pair of leaf springs 15 and 1, the virtual center line 14a of the screw fixing on the support stand 17 side and the virtual center line 14b of the screw fixing on the head base 13 side are connected by the pair of leaf springs 15,1.
The length is regulated by 6. Here, since the pair of leaf springs 15 and 16 are made of the same material and have the same dimensions, the deformation of the leaf spring 15 and the deformation of the leaf spring 16 are equal. Therefore, the screw fixing virtual center line 14a on the support stand 17 side and the screw fixing virtual center line 14b on the head base 13 side can be kept parallel, so that the support stand 17 is fixed horizontally to the main body board. The head base 13 also moves up and down while keeping it horizontal.

As a result, the combination head 1 fixed to the head base 13 is also moved substantially horizontally in the vertical direction. At this time, flanges 11a and 11 are placed at the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape 4 to restrict the magnetic tape 4 through a small gap.
Posts 11 and 1 with b and 12a and 12b arranged in parallel
2, the vertical movement of the magnetic tape 4 is almost restricted, so the combination head is able to control the amount of width variation of the magnetic tape 4 (the width of compact cassette audio tapes currently on the market is 3.76 to 3.80).
mm. ) If the magnetic tape 4 is moved up and down by a maximum of 0.04 mm, it is set at the reference position. In addition to the above-mentioned head moving means 24, it is also possible to move the head by means of a piezoelectric element or the like.

Effects of the Invention As described above, the present invention can easily detect the optimum recording and reproducing position by simply forming the recording and reproducing heads that detect the relative position with respect to the magnetic tape at the same time when forming the recording and reproducing heads of the combination head. The positional relationship with the tape can be controlled. Furthermore, since the present invention does not require a means for detecting the position of the magnetic tape on the tape running path, the number of parts can be reduced and the running path can be simplified, and the magnetic tape running resistance due to the running path can be reduced by reducing the number of members that come into sliding contact with the magnetic tape. This suppresses an increase in stress on the magnetic tape sliding contact surface (magnetic surface). Conventionally, a method has been considered in which the recording head and the reproducing head are separated and the reproducing head is moved relative to the track recorded by the fixed recording head. Because the magnetic tape is mechanically regulated, if there is a change in the width of the magnetic tape or a change in the regulated position, the recorded track will have deviations or waviness due to width fluctuations or changes in the regulated position, which will greatly increase the amount of playback head movement. It is the cause of this. However, in the combination head of the present invention, since the recording head and the reproducing head are integrally formed, the reproducing head detects the misalignment of the magnetic tape with respect to the recorded track during recording, and the recorded track is located at the optimum position. In addition to being able to control the movement of the various combination heads, even when playing back magnetic tapes recorded with this device, the recording and playback is performed using the top and bottom heads for detecting the tape position, thereby ensuring optimal performance at all times. The playback head can be controlled to move to a desired tape position. In the above embodiment, a means for controlling the relative position of the combination head and the magnetic tape by detecting the positions of the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape was shown. It is also possible to control the relative position of the combination head and the magnetic tape by comparing the recording/reproducing output level with a reference signal level.

Furthermore, the control method based on the position detection of the upper and lower ends of the present invention has the following advantages over the control method using the position detection of the upper end or the lower end. That is, when position control is performed using the upper end or the lower end, the head position is controlled along the end surface of the magnetic tape, so recording or reproduction is performed along changes in the end surface. Therefore, when the magnetic tape is reversed and recording is performed in the upper and lower halves along the lower end surface, for example, a space is required in the center of the magnetic tape to prevent overlapping recording due to fluctuations in the upper and lower ends. However, the control means that detects the position of the upper and lower ends always detects fluctuations in the upper and lower ends and performs position control, so the combination head is always controlled to move to the center position of the amount of change in the upper and lower ends of the magnetic tape. Therefore, even when the magnetic tape is reversed and recorded on the upper and lower halves, the center position of the upper and lower ends does not change, so there is no need for space to prevent overlapping recording at the center position of the magnetic tape. It is.
