Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve purification efficiency for exhaust gas by collecting almost whole amt. of the exhaust gas, and to moderate thermal influence on a lower combustion section by dispersing radiation heat by constituting a catalyst body by covering a top surface of a cylindrical honeycomb catalyst cylinder with a crown plate having a rear surface projected downward. CONSTITUTION:Combustion exhaust gas (indicated by solid line arrow marks G) flows from an combustion cylinder 4 toward an upper crown plate 2, and is dispersed toward to periphery by a projected part 3 and reaches a catalyst cylinder 1. The catalyst cylinder 1 can have a large area by adjusting the height of a combustion cylinder 4. The combustion exhaust gas is purified completely in the catalyst cylinder 1 and discharged. From the viewpoint of heat flow (as expressed by broken line arrow marks R), radiant heat supplied by the combustion cylinder 4, and radiant heat supplied by the projected part 3 are dispersed toward the periphery by an inclined wall surface of the projected part 3 and liberated. By this constitution, a large catalyst surface can be housed in a small space and a flow of exhaust gas is guided with divided streams and low pressure loss while keeping high percentage of collection efficiency without influencing adverse thermal effect on a low combustion section permitting also increase of heat radiation onto peripheral constructions.
