Abstract
PURPOSE:To expand the application temperature range of the detecting device by judging a liquid level position corresponding to variation in the temperature of a temperature detecting element. CONSTITUTION:The temperature detecting element 4 indicates a basic temperature variation cycle where the temperature returns almost to starting temperature from a nearly saturation state of a temperature rise by the intermittent voltage application and application stop of a voltage applying means 20 (heating means). Then an arithmetic means 14 calculates the temperature deviation of the temperature detecting element 4 between the start and end of a period in the same intermittent cycle. Further, a deciding means 17 compares the temperature deviation with a threshold value for liquid level position decision making which is set by a threshold value setting means 16 to decide whether the liquid level position is above or below the temperature detecting element 4. Even if the heating value of the temperature detecting element 4 varies with its temperature to cause both air and liquid temperature deviations to vary, the misdetection of the liquid level position is eliminated since the threshold value setting means 16 sets a value between the temperature deviation in both air and liquid atmospheres, thereby expanding the application temperature range of the device.
