Description
本発明は水性ボールペン用インキ組成物に関す
る。
水性ボールペン用インキは、キヤツプオフ性
(ボールペンのキヤツプを外した状態で長時間に
わたり筆記可能である性質)に優れていること、
所定球径のボールに対応して均一太さの滑らかな
筆記を可能とする適度の粘性又は流動性を有して
いること、筆記速度が大きくなつてもインキ切れ
を生じないこと、筆記後にペン先にインキカスを
残存させないこと、長期にわたり保存安定性に優
れていること、ボールペンの金属部品に対する腐
食性を有しないこと等の性質を具備する必要があ
る。しかしながら、これ等の性質のあるものは互
に相反する要素を含んでおり、例えばキヤツプオ
フ性に優れた公知のインキは、粘性が高くインキ
切れを生じやすい傾向がある。従つて、現存のイ
ンキには多くの改善の余地があり、新しいインキ
の出現が望まれている。
本発明者は、上記の如き現状に留意しつつ種々
実験及び研究を重ねた結果、特定量のキサンタン
ガムを水性ボールペン用インキに加える場合に
は、前記の諸性質を全て具備したインキが得られ
ることを見出した。即ち、本発明は、キサンタン
ガムを0.20〜0.45重量%含有することを特徴とす
る水性ボールペン用インキ組成物に係る。
本発明で使用するキサンタンガムは、分子量
500万〜1000万程度の水溶性高分子多糖類である。
キサンタンガムの使用量は、インキ組成物中0.20
〜0.45重量%とする。キサンタンガムの量が0.20
重量%未満の場合には、滑らかな筆記が行なわれ
難く、一方0.45重量%を上回る場合には、インキ
の粘度が上昇してペン先からのインキの流出が阻
害される傾向を生ずる。キサンタンガムの含有量
は、インキ組成物中0.30〜0.40重量%とすること
がより好ましい。
本発明の水性ボールペン用インキ組成物中のキ
キンタンガム以外の成分は、公知の水性ボールペ
ン用インキ中の各成分と特に異なるところはな
い。即ち、本発明インキ組成物は、例えば、水又
は水とアルコール、グリコールエーテル等からな
る水性媒体5〜40重量%、水溶性又は水分散性着
色剤0.1〜15重量%、界面活性剤、防腐剤、PH調
整剤、防錆剤等の添加剤0〜10重量%及びキサン
タンガム0.20〜0.45重量%により構成される。キ
サンタンガム以外の成分を例示すれば、以下の通
りである。

ナフタレンスルホン酸ホルマリン縮合物、
ジアルキルスルホコハク酸エステル又はその
ソーダ塩等のアニオン系界面活性剤。

水性媒体成分としては、多価アルコール及びグ
リコールエーテルがより好ましい。
上記各成分中アルコール、グリコールエーテル
等の水性媒体成分の量は、インキ組成物の5〜40
重量%を占める割合とすることが好ましい。この
量が40重量%を上回る場合には、粘度が上昇し、
且つ筆記時に滲みを生ずる傾向があり、一方5重
量%未満では、インキ組成物の保存性及びキヤツ
プオフ性が低下する。
尚、キサンタンガムを必須の成分とする本発明
インキ組成物は、上記の組成に限定されるもので
はなく、上記以外の成分を含む組成も本発明の範
囲に包含されるものである。
本発明のインキ組成物は、例えば次の様にして
製造される。室温で撹拌されている水にキサンタ
ンガムを徐々に加え、完全に溶解させた後、多価
アルコール及び/又はグリコールエーテル等の水
性媒体成分、着色剤並びに他の添加剤を加え、こ
れ等を溶解又は均一に分散させる。
尚、本発明インキ組成物は、保存安定性に優
れ、長期にわたつて適度の粘性及び流動性を発揮
する。従つて、該インキ組成物は、第1図に示す
如くボールペン本体1に逆流防止部3、インキ導
体5、ペン先部7及びボール9を備え、中間中空
部11をインキ収容部とするいわゆる“インキフ
リー”タイプの水性ボールペン用のインキとし
て、極めて有用である。
実施例1〜9及び比較例1〜2
第1表及び第2表に示す各原料を使用してイン
キ組成物を調製した。尚、第1表及び第2表にお
いて、「→」とあるのは「左に同じ」なることを
示す。

ペン先部7…ポリアセタール製で、直径1.5mm、
長さ7mmのインキ導出孔を有する。
インキ導体5…ポリエステル繊維束を樹脂加工し
たもので、直径3mm、長さ5mm、空隙率60%
である。
インキタンク11…ポリプロピレン製で、内径3

フ性、インキの流出性、速記性及びインキカスの
いずれについても○であつた。更に、前記ボール
ペンを用いて筆跡の乾燥性(上質紙に「V」の字
を筆記後、指触乾燥するまでの時間を測定する)
を調べたところ、実施例10では35秒、実施例11で
は20秒、実施例12では15秒であつたが、ジアルキ
ルスルホコハク酸エステル又は(及び)そのソー
ダ塩を使用せず水を62.6重量%とした場合の乾燥
