The fender mirror must be adjusted to the optimal position for optical rear visibility based on the driver's eye position. Conventionally, this adjustment was done manually by directly adjusting the angle of the fender mirror up and down and left and right.
Generally, adjustments are made using an electric system that adjusts the angle of the fender mirror vertically and horizontally by operating an adjustment knob on the instrument panel.

In addition, technology for automatically adjusting fender mirrors, etc. based on changes in seat position and angle was developed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 57-
It is disclosed in Publication No. 60943. This device uses a microcomputer to calculate the position of the driver's eyes (X, Y) by detecting the distance the seat moves forward and back and the distance the headrest moves up and down. Therefore, in order to determine the eye position according to the sitting height of each person, it is necessary to adjust the headrest vertical movement each time, which is extremely troublesome, and the electrical and mechanical control mechanism is complicated. The cost will be high.

Incidentally, the angle of the rearview mirror provided in the vehicle interior is adjusted based on the position of the driver's eyes so that rear visibility can be properly obtained. The present invention is characterized in that, in conjunction with the adjustment of the rearview mirror, the fender mirror is automatically adjusted to the optimal position for optical rear visibility for the driver.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. 1a and 1b are left and right fender mirrors, 2
Numerals a and 2b are electric motors that move the fender mirrors 1a and 1b vertically and horizontally by means of clutches 3a and 3b. This fender mirror 1a, 1b
is similar to the conventional electric type, but in the present invention, the rearview mirror 4 is equipped with a vertical sensor 6 and a horizontal sensor 7 for detecting the set position of the rearview mirror 4, which is adjusted based on the position of the driver's eyes 5. In addition, the fender mirror 1 is calculated based on the position of the driver's eyes by calculating the signals detected by both sensors 6 and 7.
A fender mirror controller 8 is provided to control the optical rear view points a and 1b to optimal positions.

Since the present invention is constructed as described above, the driver adjusts the rearview mirror 4 to the optimum position, that is, sets it in accordance with the position of the driver's eyes. Therefore, the sensors 6 and 7 that detect the angular displacement of the set rearview mirror 4 correspond to detecting the position of the driver's eyes 5.

The detection signals in the vertical and horizontal directions from the sensors 6 and 7 are input to the fender mirror controller 8, and the fender mirror controller 8 adjusts the position of the driver's eyes 5 to the fender mirrors 1a and 1.

In this way, the present invention automatically adjusts the angle of the fender mirror in conjunction with the optimum value for the rear visibility for the driver by adjusting and setting the rearview mirror to the driver's eye position. This eliminates the need to adjust the fender mirror independently, and the rearview mirror is adjusted so that it corresponds to the position of the driver's eyes based on the fore-aft position and sitting height of the seat after the driver is seated. The fender mirror can be properly adjusted only by adjusting the rearview mirror, and the configuration is simple, which has the advantage of reducing costs.
