には鋭利な角部や縁部が多く、内視鏡を挿入、引
抜する際に挿入部の外面がこれらの鋭利な部分に
よつて損傷を受ける不具合があつた。そして従来
はこのような損傷を防止するために挿入部の外周
を金属細線を編組した可撓性の管で被覆すること
がなされている。

いる。そして、この挿入部2の先端部、基端部お
よび中間部にはそれぞれ保護管取付部6,7,8
が設けられており、これらの保護管取付部6,
7,8は挿入部2の外径よりわずかに大きな外径
を有している。そして、この挿入部2の外周には
中空管状の保護管9が着脱自在に取付けられてい
る。この保護管9は金属細線を中空管状に編組し
たものであつて、上記挿入部2の外周面との間に
わずかの間隙が形成されるように構成されてい
る。またこの保護管9の先端部、基端部および中
間部には上記挿入部2の保護管取付部6,7,8
に対応してそれぞれ環状取付部10,11,12
が形成されている。そして、上記先端部の取付部
10は挿入部2の先端部の保護管取付部6の外周
に嵌合するとともにその先端側に係合している。
また中間部の取付部12は中間部の保護管取付部
8の外周に嵌合するとともに取付部12を貫通し
て保護管取付部8に螺装された固定螺子13……
によつて軸方向に固定されている。また、基端部
の取付部11は基端部の保護管取付部7の外周に
軸方向に摺動自在に嵌合するとともに操作部1の
先端部に螺合した引張調整部材14に回転自在に
嵌合している。そしてこの引張調整部材14を螺
進させることにより保護管9の基端部を引張り、
保護管9の基端部と中間部との間に張力を与え、
この部分の剛性を調節することができるように構
成されている。

ツトエンジンや熱交換器等内部に鋭利な部分のあ
るものを検査する場合には、挿入部2に上記保護
管9を装着した状態で検査をおこなう。そしてこ
の保護管9は金属細線を編組したものであるから
鋭利な部分に接触しても損傷を受けることがな
く、挿入部2は確実に保護される。また、引張調
整部材14を螺進させて保護管9の中間部と基端
部との間に張力を与えてこの部分のみの剛性を大
きくし、先端側部分のみを屈曲させるようにする
こともでき、挿入等を容易にすることができる。
なお、内部に鋭利な部分のあるジエツトエンジン
等の機器では一般にその内部は清浄であるので、
腐食性の薬品等が付着することはなく、このよう
な保護管9を用いてもこれが腐食されるようなこ
とはない。次に化学性薬品や汚物の容器等の内部
を検査する場合には引張調整部材14および固定
螺子13……外し、保護管9を取外して検査をお
こなう。そして、一般に化学薬品や汚物の容器や
配管等の内部には当然のことながら鋭利な部分は
なく、保護管9を取外しても挿入部2が損傷を受
けるようなことはない。そして、この場合には保
護管9が取外されており、また挿入部2の表面は
耐薬品性の合成樹脂材料で滑らかに被覆されてい
るので薬品、汚物等が付着しても腐食されること
はなく、またそれらを拭き取ることも容易であ
る。なお、内部に鋭利な部分があり、かつ内部に
腐食性の化学薬品等のある機器を検査する場合に
は保護管9を取付けて検査をなし、検査が終了し
たらただちに保護管9を取外し、この保護管9を
洗浄するとともに挿入部2に付着した化学薬品等
を拭き取ればよい。この場合保護管9は挿入部2
から取外してこれのみを洗浄できるので、その洗
