されていても水が玉軸受の内部に迄浸透するよう
になり、玉軸受の寿命が著しく低いものとなつて
しまう欠点を有する。

玉軸受を使用した理由は、回転槽内の被洗濯物に
よるスラスト荷重を容易に受けることができ、ま
た上部の軸受に大きな荷重が作用するとして強固
な軸受を上部に用いるようにしていたものである
が、今回研究の結果軸受に作用する荷重が明解に
なり、その結果によると、従来用いられていた玉
軸受は、必要とする寿命が約1000時間であるのに
対して数10倍の寿命を有することが判明し、従つ
て、すべり軸受11,11の使用が可能となり、
すべり軸受11,11の設計に必要な面圧P及び
すべり速度vの算定も可能となつた。そして、す
べり軸受11,11として含油軸受を使用するこ
とにより油は常に軸受内部から表面にしみ出して
くるためシール16から水が漏れて軸支え部4と
脱水軸9との間に水が浸入した場合でも、該すべ
り軸受11,11の内部に水が浸透することが防
止され、水の浸透により寿命が低下するようなこ
ともない。また、すべり軸受11,11を設けた
ことにより、玉軸受のような転動音の発生がなく
騒音を著しく低減できるとともに隙間を充分小さ
く設定し得てガタなく回転させることができ振動
を著しく低減できる。
