<Prior art> Conventionally, automatic document reading devices have been designed to pick up a document with a paper feed roller or the like, separate it one by one using a friction member, etc., and then sandwich the documents between a pair of rollers and convey them one by one. However, those that read manuscripts are common and widely used.

Devices that use friction members, roller pairs, etc. use friction to carry out conveyance, so it is difficult to prevent double feeding, the document is easily damaged, and the surface of the document is stained.
It has many drawbacks, such as slippage on art paper or coated paper with a low surface friction coefficient, and meandering caused by unbalanced roller shapes during the conveyance process.

First, when an instruction is given to start reading a document, the double-feed prevention claw 14 rotates to a predetermined position, and at the same time, the document suction device 12, which was in the standby position, rotates to a predetermined position, and then the paper feed base plate 11 is moved to a predetermined position. (a). Next, the document suction device 12 uses the suction port provided on the bottom surface to suction and pull up the uppermost document P to a predetermined paper feeding position shown in FIG. At this time, if the document you are trying to pull up cannot be attracted due to some reason (for example, suction force between sheets due to static electricity, etc.), increase the suction force,
By repeating the suction operation again, the document is reliably suctioned. Whether or not the document has been suctioned is determined using a pressure detection means (not shown). When the above operation is performed, the double feeding prevention claw 14 partially catches the corner of the document being pulled up by the document suction device 12, so that the uppermost document P to be fed and the next document P are separated. If the adhesion force between the sheets due to static electricity or the like acting between the two originals P' is relatively weak, it serves to prevent two originals from being pulled up by the original suction device 12 at the same time. At this time, if the adsorption force between the sheets acting between the uppermost original P and the next original P' is extremely large, the double feeding prevention claw 14
In some cases, two or more pieces may be pulled up at once because they cannot be separated. In this example, the document P′ which is the next highest document and the document P″ which is the next highest document are shown separated.Document suction device 12
finishes the document suction operation, and then the double feed prevention claw 14
returns to the standby position, the suction port at the tip of the double feed prevention device 13 starts suctioning, continues the suction operation and moves forward until the document suction device 12 approaches the bottom surface of the document P' that is being suctioned. It sucks the document P', moves back slightly to a predetermined position, and then stops the suction operation. After the document P' is separated from the suction port of the double-feed prevention device 13, the double-feed prevention device 13 returns to the standby position (d in the figure). Therefore, the original P' falls onto the original P''.
In addition, if only one document is attracted to the document suction device 12, the suction force of the double feed prevention device 13 is set to be weaker than the suction force of the document suction device 12. There is no inconvenience to withdraw money. Detection of whether or not the double feed prevention device 13 has attracted a document is performed using a pressure detection means (not shown), as described above. If there are two or more originals, the suctioned originals are removed sequentially or all at once by this operation, and the double-feed prevention device 13 continues until the number of originals suctioned by the original suction device 12 is one. The above operation is repeated until only the top original P to be transported is left. At this time, the document feeder GF is in the standby position and is not in operation. Next, after confirming with the detection means that the uppermost document P to be conveyed by the document suction device 12 has been lifted up, as shown in FIG.
A solenoid (not shown) opens the document gripping plate 23, and the document conveyance device GF further starts moving forward (movement in the direction of arrow E in the figure). This forward movement stops when the edge of the uppermost document P is detected by a document edge detection sensor (not shown) provided on a part of the document holding plate 23, and the solenoid is released. Due to the action of a spring member (not shown), the document gripping plate 23 is closed as shown by the broken line in FIG. The uppermost original P held between the original holding plates 23 in the manner described above is conveyed in the direction shown by arrow E in FIG. I am made to do so. This operation is performed by a position detection means (not shown). Then, in order to make it easier for the reading surface of the original to come into contact with the upper surface of the platen glass 2, the original holding plate 23 is rotated by a certain angle by a drive device (not shown) while holding the original P. That is, the tip of the document gripping plate 23 is connected to the platen glass 2.
It rotates until it comes into almost contact with the upper surface of (g in the same figure), and is stopped by a position detection means (not shown). Thereafter, the document pressure plate 31 is lowered (g in the same figure), the document P is pressurized, the image reading operation of the document P is performed by the document reading device 1, and after the reading operation is completed, the document pressure plate is raised (in the same figure). Figure g). As shown in FIG.
The document is rotated around the document and the document is reversed. The inverted original P is conveyed to the back side reading position of the original as shown by i in the figure. Here, as described above, the document pressure plate 31 is lowered with the tip of the document gripping plate 23 almost in contact with the upper surface of the platen glass 2, and the back image reading operation of the document P is performed, and then the document pressure plate 31 is raised. (Figure j). The arm 22 then rotates in the direction of the arrow F and enters the state shown in the figure k. During this rotation, the document holding plate 23 is opened by a solenoid (not shown) and the document P is placed on the platen glass 2.

Next, the document feeder GF returns to the standby position, and in the same procedure as described above, the end of the next document P' is placed on the document gripping plate 2.
3, the document P' is conveyed in the direction shown by arrow E in FIG. At this time, the paper discharge claw 25 is rotated in the direction indicated by arrow H in FIG. 1 by a solenoid (not shown). Therefore, when the original P' is conveyed to the original reading position, the original P on the platen glass 2 is accommodated in the tray 51 by the ejection claw 25. (Figure m). At this point, the solenoid described above is released and the paper discharge claw 25 is pulled up by a spring member (not shown). Thereafter, the document having images on both sides is read in the same manner as described above, and the next conveyance operation begins.

<Effects> As described above, according to the double-sided document automatic reading device according to the present invention, the double-feed prevention effect is improved by the functions of the double-feed prevention claw, the double-feed prevention device, etc., and the document is grasped and conveyed. Unlike conventional devices that use friction members to transport originals, this system reliably transports originals without staining or damaging them, and automatically reads both sides of the original, even if the original has images on both sides. be able to. Furthermore, by making each device into a unit or block, repair and maintenance of the device becomes easier.
