本発明はトリフエニルメタン系色素であるクリ
スタルバイオレツト（別名ゲンチアナバイオレツ
ト）およびメチレンブルーを成分として含有する
ことを特徴とする豚伝染性萎縮性鼻炎に対する治
療・予防剤に関する。従来より豚の呼吸器系疾病には抗生物質等を投
与する方法が採用されてきているが、耐性菌問題
などから更に新しい治療・予防剤の開発が期待さ
れているのが業界の現状である。本発明は、例えば0.01〜2.5％のクリスタルバ
イオレツト（ゲンチアナバイオレツト）と0.001
〜１％のメチレンブルーの混合溶液をスプレー法
等で豚体に投与することにより達成できる。そして、当該治療・予防効果はクリスタルバイ
オレツト（ゲンチアナバイオレツト）単独でも得
ることができるが、治瘉速度、予防効果を向上さ
せるためにはメチレンブルーの併用が望ましく、
さらに効果向上の達成には界面活性剤の併用が好
ましい。以下にその試験結果を実施例として記す。実施例１豚伝染性萎縮性鼻炎に羅患した仔豚並びにその
母豚にハンドスプレーを用いて鼻腔を中心に顔面
に向つてクリスタルバイオレツト0.04％、メチレ
ンブルー0.004％の混合水溶液を３〜４ml噴霧し
て観察を行なつた。発症仔豚並びに母豚は別房に隔離し、上記混合
水溶液を朝夕１日２回、８日間スプレーを最微粒
子用に調節して噴霧したところ、噴霧開始３日目
頃より臨床症状は徐々に軽減され、５日目には臨
床症状は全く認められなくなり、さらに３日目の
継続噴霧によりその後の頭骸顔面の変形の発生、
成長遅延は観察されなかつた。実施例２従前より重度の豚伝染性萎縮性鼻炎が出現して
いた養豚場（種雌豚65頭の一貫経営）において、
本発明の効果確認を行なつた。試験方法として
は、初生から30日齢まで、仔豚に対して各薬剤の
水溶液（表１参照）250mlを１日１回、１腹（約
10頭）当り30秒間保温箱中で細微粒子として噴霧
した。効果判定は常法により鼻甲介の病変の程度で行
ない、正常〜完全萎縮までの段階を０〜５に区分
