Conventionally, in electrophotographic copying machines, it is well known that in order to improve transfer efficiency or cleaning efficiency, the entire surface of the image support is exposed to light after development and before transfer, or after separation and before cleaning to erase charges on the surface of the image support. ing. For example, in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 56-60473,
It is described as a technique for controlling the light amount of an exposure lamp provided in front of a transfer section or a cleaning section according to the amount of toner attached to a photoreceptor that is an image support, and is also disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 57 Japanese Patent No. 104170 describes a technique for exposing the entire surface of a photoreceptor to light that does not contain spectral components that cause fatigue to the photoreceptor after development.

題点があつた。 In a conventional electrophotographic copying machine, an exposure device for removing electric charge, which exposes the entire surface to light to erase charges from the surface of an image support, is installed at the periphery of the image support. Dust and scattered toner float around the image support, and these floating objects are charged with static electricity.
Therefore, the light emitting surface of the exposure device for static elimination is contaminated by the floating matter attached thereto. If the light-emitting surface is contaminated, the amount of exposure decreases, making it impossible to obtain a predetermined amount of exposure and making it impossible to erase the charge on the surface of the image support. Therefore, in the past, a dustproof glass was removably provided in front of the light emitting surface so that it could be periodically removed for cleaning. However, since the cleaning work is troublesome, copying work is often performed with the dust-proof glass contaminated, and there is a problem in that the transfer efficiency or cleaning efficiency is reduced due to a reduction in the exposure amount.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an exposure device for static elimination that can automatically clean a light-transmitting member without the need for periodic removal and cleaning of the light-transmitting member as in conventional devices.

When the exposure device for static elimination is installed downstream of the developing section, even if floating dust or scattered toner adheres to the transparent member of the exposure device for static elimination, the transparent member will rotate.
In addition, since the cleaning member is in contact with the transparent member,
Dust and scattered toner adhering to the transparent member are automatically removed. Therefore, a new cleaned surface of the transparent member is present in front of the light source,
The surface of the image support is exposed to light without underexposure, and static electricity is removed as required. Furthermore, since the transparent member is automatically cleaned, there is no need to periodically remove and clean it.
