像剤溜り1aの現像剤は、筒状部材6及びスクリ

工合に還流するようになる。そして、外側を流れ
ている現像剤が現像剤除去部材4と現像剤規制部
材5の間の磁気ブラシスリーブ2の表面に付着し
て、現像剤規制部材5を通過し、像担持体Zの表
面を摺擦することにより像担持体Z面上の静電像
が現像される。一方、補給されるトナーは、スク
リユーコンベヤ8の矢印方向の回転によつてスク
リユー推進式回転部材7の軸の中空部分7a内を
左から右に運ばれ、中空部分7aの行き止り部分
に設けた開口7bから筒状部材6の内側に送り込
まれる。したがつて、補給トナーは、筒状部材6
の内側を流れる現像剤と合流してスクリユー推進
式回転部材7により送られることになり、筒状部
材6の内側右端を出るときには十分に現像剤と混
合されるから、混合不十分な状態で磁気ブラシス
リーブ2に供給されることがなくなる。なお、ス
クリユー推進式回転部材7の第2図の筒状部材6
の左端より外側に出ている推進翼部分7cは現像
剤溜り1aの現像剤を筒状部材6の内側に送り込
む還流の補助手段をなしており、筒状部材6の軸
部に設けた還流の補助手段6bと共に還流が円滑
に行われるようにしている。また、第1図の断面
図では、筒状部材6がその軸部の回転とともに回
転するように、筒状部材6を軸部に支持固定する
支持部材については、その支持部材によつて筒状
部材6がその軸部に支持されれば足りるために省
略して示している。第2図の断面図では、その支
持部材を含む断面形状を示した。即ち、筒状部材
6の軸方向両端部に、筒状部材6をその軸部に支
持する支持部材を図に示した。この支持部材は、
勿論前述のように筒状部材6と軸部とを支持固定
するものであれば充分であり、また筒状部材6の
軸方向両端の部分は支持部材が設けられた部分を
除いた部分に開口部が形成されるように構成され
ていることは勿論である。例えば、図面上にはそ
の詳細について示してはいないけれども、第2図
において、筒状部材6の左端と右端には、各々筒
状部材6の外側の現像剤が内側に送り込まれる入
口をなす開口と、内側の現像剤が外側に送り出さ
れる出口をなす開口とが設けられ、それら開口を
現像剤が通過するようにして現像剤の還流路が構
成されている。また、第2図に示した還流の補助
手段6bは筒状部材6の外周の還流促進翼6aと
同方向のスパイラル翼からなつているが、それを
例えば軸を含む放射状板からなるものにしても十
分な還流円滑化作用が得られるし、また、筒状部
材6の左端より外側に出ている推進翼部分7cの
代りに軸を含む放射状板の外方が現像剤を中心部
に掻き込むように彎曲している形の掻き込み板を
設けても還流円滑化作用が得られる。さらに、ス
クリユー推進式回転部材7の推進撹拌翼あるいは
筒状部材6の外周の還流促進翼6aには、第3図
乃至第5図に示たような種々の形状、構造のもの
を用いることができる。そして、第4図や第5図
に示した形状、構造のものを用いると、第3図の
形状、構造のものを用いるよりも撹拌作用が増大

その周りに現像剤を第2図の右から左に流動させ
るスクリユーコンベヤ等の搬送手段を設けるよう
にしてもよい。回転する筒状部材6の内側にも推
進翼を設けてスクリユー推進式回転部材7を省略
するようにした現像装置は、装置がコンパクトに

れる付近での現像剤の滞留が防止され、現像剤が
一方向に還流して流れの衝突が起らないから、還
流速度を上げても現像剤の劣化すことが少なく、
したがつて画質向上のために粒径の小さい現像剤
(例えばキヤリヤの平均粒径10〜20μ、トナーの
平均粒径数μと云つたような従来の現像装置では
混合不足や劣化の起り易い現像剤)も効果的に用
いることができ、しかも装置が小型にできると云
