[Prior Art] In a press mold or the like for press-forming a steel plate, such as the body of an automobile, the surface of the protrusion of the mold that comes into contact with the steel plate needs to be polished smooth. If the protrusions of the mold are insufficiently polished, friction between the protrusions of the mold and the steel plate will increase, causing problems such as the steel plate being torn during press forming. For this reason, abrasive paper or abrasive cloth has conventionally been used as a polishing tool. Then, using these abrasive papers and abrasive cloths, the worker presses the abrasive paper with the palm of his hand or the tips of his fingers, etc. to polish the protrusions of the mold, and then changes the abrasive paper sequentially from coarse to fine abrasive paper, and finally It was polished until it became a mirror-like smooth surface. Conventional polishing tools such as abrasive paper and cloth are pressed by the operator's palm or fingertips, and the pressing force is used to polish the mold, so it is not possible to polish a large area at once, and the force acting on the abrasive paper It was difficult to finish the surface with a smooth surface because the surface was not uniform. In addition, polishing required skill and was a difficult task. Furthermore, with conventional polishing tools, it is relatively difficult to use the entire surface of the polishing paper, resulting in a lot of waste.

[Detailed Description of the Structure of the Invention] The curved body constituting the polishing tool of the present invention is made of a soft elastic material. Soft elastic materials include rubber, soft plastics, or foams of rubber and plastics, which deform elastically when pressed by hand, and the curved object itself easily deforms along the pressed surface. A material that returns to its original shape when pressure is removed is suitable. When the curved body is a foam, large deformations can be easily obtained. Specifically, as the rubber, natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, EPR, urethane rubber, etc. can be used, and as the soft plastic, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, etc. can be used.

The abrasive particles are held so as to be uniformly distributed and exposed on at least the surface of the curved body. For example, an adhesive layer may be provided on the outer peripheral surface of the curved body, and the abrasive particles may be fixed and held via this adhesive layer.

Furthermore, abrasive particles may be dispersed throughout the curved surface. In this case, granular abrasive material inevitably appears on the surface of the curved body.

[Effects of the Invention] Since the polishing tool of the present invention has a curved surface of a size that can be grasped, it is convenient for an operator to directly grasp the polishing tool and slide the polishing tool against the mold surface. .
Further, the polishing tool pressed against the mold surface by the operator is elastically deformed by the pressing force of the operator, comes into close contact with the mold surface, and presses the mold surface with the force required for elastic deformation.

When the polishing tool of the present invention is spherical, its outer surface is the same in all parts. Therefore, by sequentially changing the surface of the polishing tool pressed against the mold surface, the entire surface of the polishing tool can be used uniformly. Also, when the polishing tool is rugby ball-shaped, by holding the center part of the rugby ball-shaped polishing tool with your hand and rubbing the center part against the mold surface, polishing can be performed in a relatively wide state. It becomes possible. Therefore, a relatively large area can be easily polished at one time. In addition, if the abrasive particles are fixed and held on the surface of the curved surface through an adhesive layer, the surface layer that has worn out due to use can be regenerated with the adhesive and the abrasive particles, and the same curved surface can be used semi-permanently. It can be used as a polishing tool. Furthermore, if the abrasive particles are dispersed and held throughout the curved surface, the abrasive tool can be used for a long time until it wears out and becomes smaller due to use.

Example 1 A central sectional view of a polishing tool according to a first example of the present invention is shown in FIG. This polishing tool is composed of a spherical curved body 1 made of rubber and a surface coating layer 2 uniformly formed over the entire outer peripheral surface of the curved body 1. The size of this polishing tool is approximately the same size as a tennis ball, and can fit in the palm of a human hand. The curved body 1 is made of soft urethane rubber. The surface coating layer 2 is composed of an adhesive applied to the outer peripheral surface of the curved surface body 1 and abrasive particles scattered and fixed on the surface of the adhesive. Note that the abrasive particles are preferably fixed in an exposed state on the surface of the surface coating layer 2. However, it may be embedded in the surface coating layer 2. In addition, when the abrasive particles are embedded in the surface coating layer 2, it is preferable that the intervals between the abrasive particles are far apart in order to maintain the flexibility of the surface coating layer 2.

The polishing tool of this embodiment has the above structure. This polishing tool is pressed against the protrusion of the mold W by the hand of an operator, as shown in FIG. 2, which shows a cross section of the tool in use. This pressing force deforms the polishing tool into a shape that follows the outer peripheral surface of the protrusion of the mold W, as shown in FIG. In this state, the pressing force required to deform the polishing tool acts on the outer peripheral surface of the mold W. In this state, the polishing tool is moved by the operator in a direction perpendicular to the plane of FIG. 2 to polish the surface of the protrusion of the mold W.
For the polishing work, prepare several types of polishing tools ranging from coarse to fine polishing materials, and gradually replace the polishing tool using the coarse abrasive with the polishing tool using the finer abrasive to polish the surface of the mold W. This creates a smooth surface that is almost mirror-like.

Embodiment 3 A polishing tool according to a third embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG.
Similar to the polishing tool shown in FIG. 3, this polishing tool has polishing particles dispersed throughout the curved surface. The polishing tool of this embodiment differs from the polishing tool shown in FIG. 3 in that its shape is a rugby ball shape. This polishing tool is shaped like a rugby ball and is held with its long axis perpendicular to the polishing direction. The polishing tool is moved to polish the mold over a wide area at once.
