In general, hot stamping foils are those in which a release layer, a release layer, an intermediate layer, a vapor deposition layer, and an adhesive layer are laminated in this order on a base film, or those that consist of a release layer, an intermediate layer, and an adhesive layer. Various types of materials are known, including those consisting of a layer and an adhesive layer, and those consisting of a single layer.

The following material compositions for these base materials and each layer are generally used. Examples of the base film include films such as polyethylene terephthalate, cellophane, and nylon, and paper.
As the release layer, wax, rosin, acrylic resin, cellulose resin, chlorinated rubber, maleic acid resin, etc. are generally used. In addition, pigments, plasticizers, etc. may be appropriately added to these.

The transfer film thus obtained is heated and pressed using a foil stamping machine or the like to transfer the coating resin layer, but at this time it is required to be easily separated from the base film.

Further, to explain the release layer in detail, the cohesive force of the release layer itself and the adhesive force with the base film greatly influence the separation of the foil. Therefore, in general there are: (b) Perform melting and peeling using wax. (b) Peeling is performed using a resin with good peelability during heat transfer from the base film.

However, method (a) causes dust to occur in the prints transferred at high temperature and pressure, and the foil separation is also poor, making it unsuitable for high-speed transfer (less than 1 second). (The dust phenomenon is a phenomenon in which only the edges of the transferred image are transferred, and the center is not transferred at all or only incompletely, leaving the center as a white spot. In the case of , for example, the central band of one line of a stroke is removed and only the edges on both sides are transferred, creating two parallel line-shaped transferred images that look like rails.) Also, the transferred material was easily rubbed and smudged.

Method (b) has even worse separation of foil than (b). For this reason, fillers and plasticizers have been added to this, but they have reached their limits.

The hot stamping foil of the present invention is composed of a release layer and an adhesive layer sequentially laminated on a base film, and the release layer is at least one selected from the group consisting of acrylic resin, cellulose resin, and styrene/maleic anhydride resin. It is characterized by being in a white state, consisting of one type of pigment and a pigment.

Here, the term "whitening state" refers to a state in which the release layer becomes cloudy due to precipitation of resin components in the coating film.
Blushing generally occurs in two cases: One is that when a resin solution in an organic solvent is applied, the solvent evaporates rapidly and the temperature of the coating film falls below the dew point, causing moisture in the air to condense on the surface of the undried coating film, which causes the coating to deteriorate. This happens when water dissolves into the film and resin components precipitate, or when the condensed water evaporates, air gets into the film, causing the paint film to become cloudy. The other is that when a resin is dissolved and applied in a mixed solvent consisting of a resin's affinity solvent and a resin non-solvent that dries more slowly, as the solvent evaporates, the remaining solvent's ability to dissolve the resin decreases. However, this may cause the resin to precipitate into the coating film, causing the coating film to become cloudy. The whitened state referred to in the present invention is tentatively specified as the latter case, that is, the state that occurs when a mixed solvent is used, but as long as such a whitened state results, the hot stamping foil of the present invention can be used in its manufacture. It is not limited by the method.

Since the hot stamping foil of the present invention has a peeling layer in a whitened state, its mechanical strength is low.
Good foil separation.
